Well it's been over a year since we've moved to Placer County and we are still on the search for a…read morehome church. We've visited a lot of churches in the Rocklin/Roseville area and liked a lot of aspects of different churches, but never felt completely at home. Four weeks ago, we decided to see if any churches around this area had a Saturday evening service. There were two we were deciding between, but this church started 30 minutes later, which gave us some extra time to get ready. I was a little apprehensive when we got there, because you never quite know what to expect when walking into a new church. While we were going from the parking lot to the church entrance, we were greeted by a tall gentleman who shook our hands and chatted with us. Turns out he's one of the pastors here. I think his name is Mark. He was so friendly and fun to talk to. After a few minutes of chatting, he pointed towards another guy closer to the front door who he introduced as another pastor. So we get to the other pastor who introduces himself and we start chatting. We tell him briefly about our church search and he tells us that he knows how hard that can be, and he asks if he could pray for us. I figured that meant he'd pray for us later when he got home (especially since there are so many people going into the sanctuary before service starts). But nope, he prayed for us right then and there! I thought that was the coolest thing. I know praying isn't that huge of a deal, but for a pastor of a large church to just drop everything and pray for a couple of strangers he just met....well, I thought it was pretty awesome. So we walk into the sanctuary and I look around. It's a lot of younger people---maybe in their teens, twenties, early thirties? It reminded me a lot of my youth group days. I wasn't sure how comfortable I'd feel there. The music was about to start and several people gathered in front of the stage. My husband whispered to me, "They have a mosh pit???" I was still apprehensive but then the music started and I was BLOWN AWAY. The worship team that day was simply amazing. You know a group has such God-given talent when they can bring you to that heart of worship and you can tune them out, close your eyes, and just worship freely. Their musical skills were very impressive too. Everything, musically, just blended so perfectly together. Probably one of the best worship teams I've heard in a local church. I honestly felt like I was in a concert like Chris Tomlin or Hillsong, with professional musicians (maybe they are). I know it's a good sign when I have to pull out Kleenex during the worship time. Then Pastor Bob Hasty (?) came out to speak and his sermon was convicting, challenging but also very interesting. I left that church service that night and was on a spiritual high all week. I couldn't wait to go back the following week. Songs that we sang stayed in my mind all week, and I was so thankful for that church service. We've been back three more times after that, and there have been weeks where it's mind-blowing like that first week, but also times that have been just...ok. [To be honest, if we had come on weeks 2 and 4, I'm not sure I'd have been as excited to come back. Sometimes when some women lead worship, the dancing, moving, yelling, and carrying on gets very distracting and you're no longer able to just focus on the worship.] If you're visiting this church, you need to stop by when that particular worship team (I'll have to get that guy's name) is leading worship. He has such a gift, and I'm thankful for those two weeks where he led worship for us. Not sure how often he and his team leads....maybe every other week? All the pastors we have met are such amazing men of God. Service starts and ends on time, and everyone is so friendly and caring. They even give first-timers a great devotional book! Their child care services are excellent also! I invited our friend to come, and she brought her 5-year-old daughter to their "Jungle" area. Check in was smooth and her daughter LOVED being there. As we were leaving, she said to her mom, "Can we come back again?" You know child care workers (especially that one girl with the cool purple/blue hair) have done a great job when you have kids wanting to come back to church. It's wonderful to find such a Spirit-filled church in the area that also has Saturday evening services! Wow!

Agree with the other 1 star poster here. The church has serious major issues with "cliques" and we…read morealso didn't feel like we fit in even tho we tried for a year+ u literally have to join the highschool clique all over again to get "on the in" and we didn't like that. Plus during the transition periods between pastors only the "in cliques" knew what was happening behind the scenes and they left the congregation in the dark, very akward to say the least. We pray and hope that the Rock has changed, but also have learned that people are human and if it isn't the place for you then move on! Some times it's sad when the church doesn't realize they have the wrong people in certain positions who are not best for the overall body- because I will say there are authentic people there, but I think they get drowned out by the people who are louder. We wish we had family there but again, very clique and just feels like highschool again, and why? It's supposed to be a church.

We looked all over Roseville, Rocklin, Citrus Heights, etc. Here are a few callouts about Bridgeway that regularly bring us joy: -Our main "big church" pastors (Brian, Heather, Judah, and Lance) are incredible. They are wise, kind, humble, and remain loyal to scripture as they teach. -Hard truths are delivered with compassion. Life is weird and people are broken. Each one of us carries sin. -Bridgeway gives locally, and globally, to meaningful causes. -Our church body is diverse. (There is also a healthy mix of age ranges.) -Our pastors love Jesus and purposefully preach the gospel. You will not hear them pushing politics on the congregation or "othering" certain people groups. -If you have children, our Kidsway Program is a 10/10. Pastor Ashley is wonderful! Kiddos are placed in their own age-appropriate rooms. Staff have figured out the perfect balance of play and learning. Volunteers are vetted. Safe check in & check out procedures are on point. (And this is the only church our daughter actually enjoys attending!) -You can attend services on Saturday or Sunday. -Come as you are. Sweatshirts or flip flops will do the trick. -They always stream their services online as well, so if you can't make it in, you can still watch the sermon from home. Our Creative Arts team is top notch. -Bridgeway offers a variety of classes, community groups, and events most weeks. ~~~ *Cons:* -This is a pretty big church. To form authentic connections with others, you will likely need to volunteer or join a community group/class. -Worship can be a little loud and flashy. (The 8:00am service is mostly acoustic though. Truly divine! Their voices make me teary.) ~~~ If God brought you here, I hope you'll consider this little note as a friendly nudge to come say hi. There is truly something special about Bridgeway and its people.

I'm relatively new to Bayside and I understand there's been recent changes to the ministry team. I…read morerecently moved to the area and went to several churches in the area which simply did not sit right with me in word or atmosphere. I went to a coffee shop at the Fountains working while I sat outside. My attention was peaked when I overheard two woman nearby speaking about thier faith and I resonated with what they were saying so much that I had to ask them what church they went to as I was currently looking for a new home church. They happily invited me to sit down with them and get to know them briefly as they told me about their church. Then I tried their church at Bayside Adventure. I didn't tell them I was going as I didn't want special expectedness. I went wanting to see the real people involved at Bayside & I was genuinely, tentatively impressed with such a warm, compassionate filled presence. I love that I'm not attending a rock concert in the dark! I love that the pastoral team actively encourages you week to week to follow along in your own Bible, not just expecting you to passively listen to them. I will say, you receive what you put out, if you want to get connected- connections are easily made. If you want to keep to yourself, no intrusion is put upon you. Ive been attending, skipped a couple weeks and each time returning to happy faces that genuinely seem happy to see me and continue to be welcoming. I highly recommend this church, the children's ministry is a huge part of this church too, welcoming families, singles, empty nesters, seniors, men, and women. I would easily say there's something for everyone.

The last few days have hit us conservatives hard, been quite emotional and hopeful for God to heal…read moremy heart - so I visited Bayside church on Sunday in hopes of getting the support and prayers. That did not happen: Bayside leaders messed up big time - they did not say a prayer for Charlie Kirk's family or at least have a moment of silence to honor his memory - I left sad and heartbroken... My friends said even Catholic Churches recognized Charlie. Bayside worship leader and pastor did nothing to honor a great Christian who was martyred - I watched the memorial service on YouTube and was so touched... I haven't been to church for awhile, so the visit was truly disappointing- from worship being a performance (overly loud music, lights and video on side screens focused on drummer, etc), this was clearly not about Jesus. Too many inconsistencies in pastor's message, from saying there's true evil in this world and then saying that it's also in all of our hearts: speak for yourself dude... Pastor even joked that he was giving a Ted talk - yeah, it felt like rehearsed speech that he's getting paid for, I didn't trust his words like I believed Charlie Kirk; being a young man trying to find God - I was quite disappointed, didn't feel like this church cares about me.. At one point the pastor said that we're all selfish and our circle of friends are people who like us: does he want us to surround ourselves with people who hate us? Besides few welcoming faces at the entrance- no one came up to chat or cared enough to pray for me. I won't be back and can't recommend this church. I'm sure some churches actually practice what they preach- but not bayside leaders - they are woke liberals, as I'm sure many members are here... From 2005-2020, I served/volunteered and donated a lot of time and $$ to Bayside - no pastor ever recognized my service and donations(even Ray Johnston or Kurt Harlow whom I met) and I came to realize that this liberal mega-church business model is focused on raising $$, not care about people - it's truly a disappointing and heartbreaking experience. Mark Driscoll is right: the Gospel is going everywhere except the church - https://www.instagram.com/share/BAaI7MC-80

I live in Citrus Heights and have been attending the Family Church of Roseville for about five years. Pastor Matt Oliver and the staff are outstanding. I had been attending the standard "religious" church for years, was in Stephen Ministry for a while and I have learned more about the teachings of Christ than ever before. Matt delivers meaningful scriptures alive in today's environment. He is very articulate and "steps in" the community like no other. He is right on and brings the Knowledge of the Bible into our lives of today. He is like no other Minister or Pastor that I have heard. Sure, sometimes he gets some political satire in as it has been evident throughout history of governmental intrusions not only in our private lives but into our faith. He lives life and is not afraid to step into it and proclaim the Glory of God in all things. Although (in my opinion) the worship music is too loud most of the time and rarely get into some of the old time Gospels songs, which I love and miss, it seems to bring the Spirit of the Lord into the church as you can feel it moving about. It is definitely charismatic.
