Let me start by saying The Old Bill could not receive any less than 5*!!…read moreThis can only be described as Oldham's little hidden gem! Nicely situated just outside of Oldham town centre and approx 100yrds from Oldham central tram stop this well presented family run bistro is outstanding! The very second you enter your greeted by the head of the Bissolati family, Paolo! His warm welcome and cheeky charm for the ladies and flamboyant men will have you chuckling in minuets! Shortly after being seated Paolo will always head over and ask how you are and what you've recently been up to whilst hinting and suggesting his favourite dishes! You can not visit The Old bill without starting your meal off with the sexy garlic mushrooms as a starter! Words can't start to describe the taste the second they hit your palette (and I'm not being rude here) :P For main wether it's, pasta, pizza, chicken, lamb or stake you want the flavours of every dish will leave you wanting to come back the very next evening for more! The English Cuisine with and Italian twist to it will keep you firmly in your seat! Dessert and or coffee is a treat for the eyes, that's if you've room for dessert after your meal... Paolo offers an early bird menu at The Old Bill! Also due to it's popularity, often services on a weekend night are split into two! Book early if you plan to come and not a few nights before hand :)

Its a chain but there is only eight of them and they're all around the north - a truly Mancunian establishment then whilst remaining truly Italian in its good quality food. This used to be the standard dinner out when I was younger; you know a treat for the family every once in a while. And it delivers all the friendly, totally unpretentious atmosphere, quick service and range of dishes that such a treat needs. How could it be pretentious I suppose but still, you know what I mean. The building here is really elegant and cool - both inside and out. The restaurant is really spacious and it does really feel like you are in Italy by the sea somewhere: cream walls, light wooden chairs and plants everywhere. Everyone around here knows that San Rocco serves up good Italian food at a good price and you really should always trust the locals.

The food is great too love the (very unitallian) rollmop starter, the wood fired pizzas are superb, perfect handmade pasta that's making my mouth water just thinking about it, very nice house wine! For some reason since growing up I've always thought of this place being a little scruffy (outside view) and I don't really know why. But I heard from a friend that kids can make there own Pizza, so I decided to try it out one night with the family. Once inside I noticed to my surprise that the restaurant was busy and apparently is always busy. It has a very Italian feel to the restaurant with most of the staff either being or looking Italian. 1st up while waiting for a table was a round of drinks at the bar. x1 Bottle of Peroni, x1 glass of white wine & x1 glass of pure orange juice = £9.20 which for me I found expensive (this is Oldham after all). There was live music in the dining area which was nice & all the staff where very nice and made time to have a bit of fun with our daughter. We ordered the "Make your own pizza" for the our daughter which came with a fresh dough pizza base and a tomato sauce with 3 toppings to choose out of a selection. We choose Sweetcorn, Ham & Mushroom. A hat is also given to the child to wear while making the Pizza. Myself and my partner had a X2 starters & X2 mains. The starters were nice but nothing special. And we both had Pizzas but if I'm really honest if I had gone to any kebab & pizza shop on Yorkshire street and ordered a pizza I'm guessing it would have looked and tasted the same. I wasn't really impressed with the food i ordered (maybe the other italian meat & pastas is be better ?) In the end add another glass of white wine and the bill was £40 which I thought was over priced for what we got. Would I go again. Yes but I don't think it will be for a while.

We called into Noi Quattro for lunch after a friend recommended it, and found the place completely deserted. I've no idea why it was so quiet, but it is tucked a little out of the way and I suspect the nearby Mackie Mayor swallows up a lot of passing trade. The venue is large and modern, very nicely decorated. We were seated in the window which gave us a great view. The menu had a good variety of pizzas on it (several of which catered to vegans) and there were a couple of specials up on the board... I went for a mushroom pizza, Sparky went for an anchovy and olive one. Both were really delicious and we washed them down with a couple of beers. Pizzas here are truly authentically neapolitan - let's be honest, most people will compare these pizzas with those offered by Rudy's, and they are easily on the same level. I gave Rudy's 5 stars, and I'm giving Noi Quattro 5 stars too. The pizzas are really delicious and I really don't understand why people weren't queueing out of the door here like they do at Rudy's.

The pizzas were all well cooked and full of flavour. I particularly liked the base. The waiter was especially lovely to our 3 year old kid and went out of his way to talk to him about what he'd been up to today. The place was bright and airy and it had a good feel to it. There was one table with four swings around it. There's plenty of regular seating too. I'd definitely come again for a pizza fix.
