This location is under new management, and apparently the new manager needs to be trained better. We ordered 1 calzone and 1 cheese dipper then proceeded to wait 2.5 hours for our food. At the 2 hour mark we called to cancel the order and the representative told us we could not cancel because it had left the store. They refused to give a refund and instead offered a discount on the pizza, which was never applied to the order. When it arrived it was Lukewarm and unpalatable. As a food service manager myself I find this lack of respect, communication, and care to be completely unacceptable. We will no longer patronize this business. read more

I ate here for dinner, and the food was less than mediocre. I have had food from other Mazzios and remember really enjoying their salad bar. We went in, it there were maybe 4 other tables occupied, yet it took about 10 minutes to get waited on. I ended up stepping away for a brief moment, and the second I sat down, the waitress asked if I needed another moment to look at the menu. I didn't say it, but I really wanted to say, "Of course I do, you just seen me sit down," but I'm not one of those people. We get 2 salad bars, and we chose to share a ham and cheese hoagie with fries. We got through maybe half of our salads and started getting upset stomachs. It wasn't horrible, but enough for us to stop. 35 minutes later, our sandwich arrives. I ate the flavorless fries and then went to take my first bite and noticed the chicken on it. It was the same color as the bread, so I almost didn't notice it. I called the server over and nicely pointed out the cross-contamination issue. I said, "we ordered a ham and cheese sandwich, and this is chicken." She agreed and asked if we wanted to speak to someone. We never did end up speaking to someone - but you could definitely see the tension on the waitresses face. I assured her that it wasn't her fault, that she did nothing wrong, and she eased up. It was obvious she was relatively new, and my mom and I have spent many years waiting, so we understood the struggle well. When we went to leave, they tried making us pay for the sandwich, and then they offered to remake it. "No thanks." In hindsight, the waitresses could use more training, but they were very nice. If you want to risk getting very sick, then by all means, go to Mazzio's in Sedalia. I don't know how you get chicken on your bread while making a ham and cheese sandwich unless you're not using gloves and washing your hands, not cleaning your work station or not switching your gloves but I take cross contamination pretty seriously. 0 of 5 - do NOT recommend. read more

If I could rate lower I would. This restaurant needs to be very urgently evaluated or simply shut down. There was trash all over the place and dirty dishes and trays everywhere. The food was tasteless and very bland. Almost immediately after eating it my stomach started hurting and I had to fight to keep the food down. I would say this is a step down from pizza hut. I stopped by with my wife for the lunch buffet, it was packed in there but I was not pleased. The pizza had good toppings and good cheese, but it was lacking in the sauce department. I feel that the type of bread the sauce are the key ingredients of a good pizza without that the pizza can only be so good. And well there was hardly any sauce on the pizza. I tried several types of bread, from hand tossed, to thin and crispy to pan pizza. I did not care for the thin and crispy, but the others were good. If you do not care about they type of a sauce a pizza has, then you should really enjoy this place. If the rest of the pizza wasn't quality, I would give this place two stars. The place was busy, and the wait staff was pushed, but I don't think it was their necessarily their fault. The weather was bad outside, so they might have been short staffed because of that. We stopped in around 1:30 on 7/4/22 and they were pretty busy. There was only one front end staff getting drinks and checking people out. Alot of items on the salad bar were almost completely empty and the pizza looked as though it had been sitting out awhile. Not once did they refill anything while we were there and when we asked if they were going to put out some more cheese bread, we were told they were not as they just got through the rush. There are signs that refer to it as an "endless buffet" but if you are eating old pizza and not refilling pizza as new customers come in, these signs are misleading. $23 for 2 people in these conditions is over priced in my opinion. read more

This is actually my favorite pizza in Sedalia. Not because it's good pizza. It's an acquired taste, like McDonalds or Burger King. My favorite the thin crust pepperoni or the taco pizza. I've been eating these since I was a kid. It's the service that makes this place suck. In particular the buffet. The buffet sneaks up on them every day at 11am. They have only a couple pizzas out and there are 40 people waiting to eat. When a new pizza is set out the crowd surrounds it like buzzards on a fresh kill. You have to run for it or you'll miss out. Then they bring out stupid pizzas. One day they brought out 3 cheese pizzas in a row. Hey cheese is alright, but we're adults and we would like some variety. They've even brought out half cheese and half cheese/jalapeno pizzas. What genius put this on the buffet? Now, children love cheese pizza. And the image of a 3 year old accidentally getting a jalapeno or even some pepper juice that may have come into contact would be catastrophic. The manager is a grouchy ass who always has a scowl on his face. He's probably unhappy because every day is a new surprise. Suprise!!! It's another buffet at lunch. Didn't see that coming! We haven't made any pizzas. As long as people will pay to eat there they will continue the poor buffet service. What can you do? Post a negative review on Yelp. C'mon make some pizzas! Smile when you're working. We're paying for this. 3-5 year olds should eat free at the buffet. They eat one piece of cheese bread and then want dessert. That's not worth 5 dollars. Didn't feel good so I ordered pizza. My delivery driver was a sweetheart. He was so polite and very patient with me. I'm in a campground park and I gave the wrong directions to my camper. He called and found me I explained I had a headache and got my left/right confused so he ended up on the wrong side. I got a salad. -it was fresh lettuce ( not much you can say about a side salad). Mazzio's Pizza is some of the best pizza I have ever eaten. Now a friend of mine asked me to go out to Sedalia with him a while back to try "The best pizza I've ever had in my life." Now that's a lot of buildup for food to live up to, but then I bit down into the pizza and I was nothing but pleased about it. The pizza was delightful, I am a bit of snob when it comes to cheese to crust to sauce ratios on my pizza and this was the perfect combination of flavor profiles for each. The cheese was awesome, their sauce was so flavorful but not overpowering. It is the sort of thing that you do not get tired of eating despite the depth of the flavors. Now all of that being said this rating is mainly based on the pizza and the service. The waitresses were all pleasant and very nice. The only problem is the actual physical location. Its clearly the hull of some long dead fast food joint refurbished as a pizza place. However small price to pay. When me and my friend had finished eating we both ordered Large pizzas to go despite having spent about 1.5 hours eating the same pizza that's how good it was. There is also some good news that one is open in harrisonville so I don't have to drive super far to get it anymore. I will review that place to so as not to be uneven in the praise or disdain of this chain by location! read more

So, I drove to the side of their bldg. and asked an employee outside if his drive-thru was open, it was, so I pulled around again, and got ignored again. Mazzio's is a fantastic restaurant chain that specializes in Italian food in the midwest and southern United States. There are a good few specialties they offer that are worth taking advantage of, and a few that are worth steering clear of. I'll quickly hit bullet points on the chain as a whole before hitting this particular one. Mazzio's offers your always-important pizza option that is great for satisfying a group, especially with children, but they also offer salads, sandwiches, and pastas, as well as a few other things that don't fall into any category: chicken wings, mozzarella sticks, cinnamon sticks, etc. Something that's a must-try, however, is their delicious house-made ranch. On the subject of house-made, everything there is prepared fresh f As an avid and regular customer, I've grown to loe this Mazzio's in particular, and know the waitstaff and management (even a couple cooks) by name. They've sure grown to know me. Many of the people there are friendly, especially to customers that are friendly back. There are a few bad apples to spoil the bunch, sure, and people here tend to have "bad days" where they're a little grouchy, but it's nothing like the fellow who reviewed before me said. As far as the buffet goes, when the place is packed, it tends to go empty pretty rapidly. There are never "40 people at 11 a.m." who assault the buffet; the buffet opens when the store does at 10:30, and there are always at least four or five pizzas out there. Most of the lunch crowd doesn't show up until 11:45 to about 1:00, which is a time I'd avoid eating there if you don't like busy restaurants. Obviously, when there is nary an empty seat in the house, the buffet is going to get hit relatively hard, and while they do their best to keep it full, fresh, and varied, sometimes duplicate pizzas slip out and sometimes there are periods of emptiness. It usually takes about 7-8 minutes for a buffet pizza to come out when they throw it in the oven (yes, I timed it, I was curious). There are reasons this place doesn't get 5 stars. It's not the best of the best, and there are occasionally problems; people there can be a little curt or snippish sometimes, especially certain members of the waitstaff. Looked all around town for a good calzone. I had a bad experience with Mazzio's in Texas, but I was willing to give it another shot out here in Missouri. I couldn't find them anywhere else in Sedalia. I'm a calzone connoisseur and this calzone was the worst calzone I've ever had. It was basically a bunch of burnt, overly spiced, pepperoni, wrapped in bread. If there was any cheese, I didn't see it or taste it. If you want a calzone, don't do it. My husband and I stopped in at this location recently for lunch. We really enjoyed the buffet and all the pizza options I tried were great. I am especially fond of the dessert pizza options; especially the apple pie pizza. The restaurant was packed while we were there and it took a few minutes for a server to come to our table. Called over a month ago to schedule a party for my 4 year old. They saved the date, said they had us down and that was it. My ex husband even confirmed that the party was still ago, two days ago. This morning, I woke up and called Mazzio's and they said they forgot to call yesterday to cancel our party. I got heated and when I expressed how frustrated I was, the manager said verbatim, "Sorry, I should've asked the guy who shot my friend/coworker to shoot him tomorrow instead of yesterday so your kid could still have his party." The friend in question? My family member, so I found this comment tasteless and disrespectful. I was then hung up on and any further phone calls were rejected. After we got the district manager involved, the manager said he would be fine to host a private party for us as long as we served our own drinks, but the damage was done. I have never been treated like that by a manager of a food place and no matter how frustrating a situation is, you NEVER talk like that to a customer. Until the manager who was very rude is dealt with by upper management, my family, friends, and I will not be patronizing a restaurant that allows a manager to talk like that and be so thoughtless. 0/10 read more

I 100% whole heartedly agree with Shawn's review and would have put the exact same thing. Their pizza is my favorite but we were spoiled by Warrensburg. We went their every Sunday. The staff were amazing and the place was clean. Sunday buffet is packed. Then we moved to Sedalia. They don't have buffet on Sunday. The staff is rude and slow. You can sit down to eat buffet and finish your meal before they get around to asking for your drink order. Warrensburg buffet pools and splits their tips and each employee is very pleasant and offers great service. Sedalia buffet employees make you feel like you're inconveniencing them and don't share tables to provide good service. read more
