When we arrived, there's a security gate entrance. The fee is $20 per vehicle and you pay on your way out. Debit or credit options are available only. The property is very big and you could stop at various areas to take photos. We went to the main temple and there's a gong outside that you can strike with the wooden stick. If you are looking for some spiritual retreat then perhaps this place may check off some boxes. It is full of tourists however most of the visitors were respectful. There's a gift shop and small cafe serving some light food. The rest rooms are only portable toilets and no toilet paper. Try to use the washroom before you visit. Overall beautiful place of serenity and peace. My family really enjoyed the visit.

It was a clear but very hot day, limiting our exploration of the outdoor areas. What we saw, however, was nothing short of spectacular. The many statues had intricate details. The clear skies were picture perfect. Exploring the main structure offered relief from the extreme heat. It was truly beautiful and colourful but photography wasn't allowed. The steps going up the front of the building may seem daunting but there's an entrance behind them, and an elevator to take you to the upper level. I wish I could have taken pictures inside the temple. It was majestically beautiful and colourful. The decor was traditional, with modern technology at work, such as lighting, climate control, elevator, etc. There is a restaurant in the main structure, offering vegetarian delights, and lots of seating. There's another counter offering beverages and light snacks. A gift shop offered lots of souvenirs. There aren't enough words to describe the beauty of this place. You'll have to visit in person. It's about an hour NE of Pickering. Be prepared to do a lot of walking. Just go, it's worth it! 4.5/5.0

So here is a capture of both experiences…read more Prepandemic, there are offering of inscents and donation box and access to the museum, you can walk through all the rooms freely and go to the bookstore. The place can be a bit busy but not crowded on weekends. In the basement the bell would rig every hour with a vegetarian serve that is good for around $7 and you can go for seconds if theres still something-food tray style nothing fancy but very tasty. During pandemic, restrictions to the main room, no access to inscents and no access to other rooms or museum. No access to vegetarian lunch. What's fun is if you go to the washroom on the main floor you will pass a bulletin board with all the.politicians who passed through in person (or virtually during pandemic). Presently access if by appointment and the staff check for You Can Go app clearance. :)

You may want to hit the big bell 3 times. You may want to write your wish or greeting to your family and put it in a specific area. It is the temple which owns 'Wu Tai Shan' in Peterborough and have more statue to see. There are monks that pray in the morning and afternoon. There are indoor parking too.

The Avalokiteshvara is magnificant. Spent time in the Temple grounds, had non-caffeinated buckwheat tea in the serene and peaceful tea-room and it just re-set and recalibrated my senses and inner-balance. There are Dharma wheels which are turning, a water ball/fountain and many books of scripture, locked away in exquisite bookcases, with intricate Chinese design. The Dharma Hall was busy, but quiet. My only deep regret - that I have not attended this Temple earlier.

Also they should update the fact that their downtown location is shut down on Yelp and google. On a bright note their is a lot of seniors and it seems very social so I might try this again elsewhere.

Some cost no money and some have a minimal charge. Very open about it, and its inexpensive when there is a charge (less than a movie ticket, which is my benchmark). It is open to everyone, Buddhists and non Buddhists alike. They teach you to meditate at your own pace, and if you don't go back nobody calls you or emails you.
