We had to wait for about 10-15 mins to get into the restaurant, with the cue behind us leading down the stairs. Once in, the service was going pretty slow, even though there is a big selection of dishes to try, and they were constantly bringing more out, the sheer amount of people in the restaurant meant they couldn't keep up enough dishes for everyone to have some... we often just missed out with empty carts coming back past us. Over the hour and a half we were there, I think we tried almost everything... But that included periods of time where we were waiting for more to come out. In saying that, all the dished we had were delicious!! And the popular demand meant that when they were served, they were red hot and super fresh!! I loved the BBQ pork, all the steamed dumplings and the Chinese broccoli is always a favorite as the serves are huge!! For dessert we tried the mango pancakes which are served chilled with fresh mango and thickened cream stuffing... We also had the coconut balls which is really my kind of food... Shredded coconut around chewy dough filled with a thick custard! Yummy!!

Why should you come here? It has a bar. It has karaoke. The staff are great. There are usually Christmas decorations up all year round. And the Chinese food is good too!! (But really- you should have been sold on the previous 4 points) This is a family run, family friendly establishment which I have been going to for years. It's the kind of place where the staff get to know you and will seat you at your favourite table and put up with your shenanigans if you're a 3yr old kid breaking stuff or a 23yr old kid breaking stuff. The food is tasty. I've never had a bad dish. Nothing fancy. It's what you'd expect from a Chinese restaurant in the burbs. Worth noting is the fully stoked bar. Including cocktails. Whatever you want they will generally have so no worries there either. Above all else- this place does karaoke!!!! The song books aren't the most up to date and are come in old display folders like you had in school- but really who wants to choose some new pop garbage when you can kick it old school with 'take on me' or '99 red balloons?' For me, the Pièce de résistance is the fact that you get old midi files playing along with you and the video clip is an old man fishing or a seagul. You can also bring your own karaoke DVDs and they'll be happy to play that! In all seriousness, if you are after a high tech new age karaoke joint with lasers and the latest songs-go to the strike bowling place. BUT! if you are after a good fun family joint where you can drunkenly sing 'killing in the name of' to a 6yr olds birthday and nobody cares- look no further.

Our meal tonight of the combination wonton soup was disgusting. Whilst the ingredients in the combination appeared fresh the base for the soup was tasteless, bland and as close to dirty dishwater as you could get. Both soups ended in the bin. I like the décor, it has Chinese lanterns hanging outside which is very cute and internally the place has a nice style. The service is also efficient and friendly. What I did not like however was the fact that for a restaurant called Top Barbeque, they have a very limited selection of Barbeque dishes and they are all either pork or duck. Most of the dishes are braised and I don't particularly like braised food, so it does not leave much to choose from. We had the salt and pepper chicken and beef in black bean sauce, neither of which particularly excited me. Just not my thing I'm afraid.
