    Food for 4! Delicious!
    Rebecca A.

After 4 days of tapas, we are craving for some spicy food and OMG! This place is definitely one of my favorite spots in Barcelona! We walked in without a reservation and luckily they have a table for us since it's already 2pm. But I would recommend making a reservation. Service is on point, everyone we talked to speaks good English and they are nice! Ambiance is relaxing and casual. I would come back for sure! Update: we went back yesterday 12/23/2022. The gentleman who served us was Sham. He got us in again for lunch and we enjoyed our lunch again! We ordered the Chicken Curry, Chicken Korma, Chicken tikka masala and tandoori chicken. Most dishes comes with basmati rice AND naan. And their chai is absolutely delicious!

Excellent and authentic Indian food. From the time we ordered to the food on our table was under 10 minutes. The naan was buttery and crisp. The shahi paneer was flavorful, spicy and delicious. Basmati rice was flagrant and cooked perfectly. Make sure you get a Taj Mahal beer ;). All topped off with an order of the gajjar (carrot) halwa and vanilla ice cream topped with pistachio. The perfect balance of hot and cold sweets.

The food was excellent! The service was attentive and friendly. I ordered butter chicken with garlic naan and I would definitely get it again. I also ordered the magnetic mango cocktail for dessert and it was the perfect way to end the night :)

Authentic,Great Service, Great Prices! What more could you ask for.... beautiful, colorful, clean, inviting environment. My husband doesn't Love Indian food as much as I do but he enjoyed every bite

    Tandoori platter

We ordered tandoori meat tasting platter, everything but the lamb chops was good. Lamb chops were dry and chewy not even sure if it was lamb, maybe goat? Mango majestic cocktail is basically mango raas with tequila so didn't care for that. Butter chicken was sweet even after ordering it spicy but not bad tasting.

This is the most reviewed Indian restaurant in the area so we decided to try something for dinner here. The ambience of the restaurant was good and were seated in the back room of the restaurant. We ordered the vegetarian platter and two mango lassis which came out to 38-40 Euros. I personally don't think that the food was all that great/worth that much $$$. The only items that seemed fresh/warm were the rotis and tiny bowl of dal. Everything else was pretty much room temperature. We literally only drank our lassis and ate the 4 pieces of roti with the dal. I also want to point out that the paneer was extreeeeeeemly dry. You can inspect my attached photos and videos to see if the cheese looks melted enough or if there is any steam coming up from the food haha (both no and no hahaha). On the bright side, the mango lassi was really good. I would come back probably just for that...maybe.

We were highly recommended this restaurant by a friend on our visit to Spain so we made an effort to come here for lunch. The taste of the food was more towards non-Indian (not spicy at all). If we were aware we would have requested to up the spice level a bit. They were nice enough to be patient with us as we got there a bit late for lunch and were there till the time they closed to get ready for dinner rush. The ambience was nice and so was the seating as cushions and sofas were comfy however not ideal to have an Indian meal. Being in Spain (or any European countries), you should not expect any customer service but here they weren't bad just not attentive.

For a first dining experience in Barcelona, this place didn't disappoint! Food:9/10- For €12.50 I got a meal that consisted of spaghetti, fish, rice, bread, dessert, and a drink! So much food for such a great price. The fish did have the bones in it which didn't take away from the taste, just a little annoying Service: 10/10- the servers know both Spanish and English, maybe more, so communication was super simple. They made sure we were taken care of! Environment: 10/10- The seating was cushioned, with pillows behind for comfort! Calm music added to the serene atmosphere! Price: 10/10- Can't beat €12.50 for a huge meal

Ambiance is great and nice servers. Very helpful and multi-lingual. Service is pretty normal in BCN--long wait for cheque, have to flag then down for things. But sill attentive. The food was fine but not memorable. BIG PROBLEM is, the prices on the menu were different from cheque. Salad with shrimp & bacon-VERY GOOD! I recommend. Listed for two at €11 but on the bill it was €13,90 or €13,something Pakora tapas-pretty good. Listed for €7 and was €8 or €9 on the bill Paneer Tikka-basically just fried cheese dish. Better to mix this with something like lamb or veggies. Listed for €8 I think and was charged €9,something. I can't remember exact prices but I know they were all €1-3 more than listed and that's before tax. We didn't want to ruin the evening by arguing over a bill. It was a nice ambience and good service. But really, keep the bill honest! Also the music is terrible, even for Indian music. Too much whistles in the songs and screeching. I've been to India, it's not like that

Absolutely amazing Indian food, great ambiance, good service. We had the lamb biryani (slow-cooked lamb with rice and spices) and the aloo saag; both very flavorful and well prepared. Great Indian food in there heart of Barcelona; would love to go back.

However, we have enjoyed some great pastries here-churros y chocolaté at CHOCOLATERÍA 1902 and napolitanas at La Malorquina in Madrid. After all that, we needed something spicy. The winner of the best food we've eaten in Spain so far is Swagatam! This little gem is tucked a ten-minute walk from La Perdrera and two doors down from our Airbnb. Swagatam really brought the spice! As you can see from the picture our meal came with four house-made sauces and two house-made seasoned salts. My wife fearing over-spicing, went with mild chicken curry. I ordered medium chicken curry and my daughter medium chicken tikka masala. All appropriately spicy. I was happy to kick mine up with sauce number 4. We really enjoyed our meal. Not only was the food delicious, the owner, Lal, has been the kindest person we met in Spain and Portugal so far. To be fair, he could top the nice list in any country. He's just a positive, happy dude with a great outlook and attitude. He is a friend to all. The service was great and the prices reasonable too. Great quality and presentation. He brought my wife and I a shot of limoncello (we had to politely turn down since we don't drink) and a mango lassi for our daughter when we had finished our meal. Lal is a gracious host, for sure. We recommend a meal at Swagatam the next time you are at the northwest end of the Passeig de Gràcia.

We picked up some take out (enough of the tapas already) and it was a great change of pace with fantastic food. We ended up getting the kofte, chicken, vegetable biryani and two naan (garlic and meat) for about 18€. The food was homemade, fresh and delicious. The meat naan which is completely new to me was delicious filled with ground beef and the meatballs so tender. A good amount of food for the money. We asked for medium spice and it was what I would call medium. Con: it did take about 45 minutes to get the food. I'm not sure if they were out of something or what the hold up was, but damn that's a long time. I also saw a few people stroll in after us and get their food fairly quickly. Second, I can't guarantee the cleanliness of the place. The very nice owner was definitely coughing up a lung and then handed us the bag, let's just hope he wasn't handling any of the food. I mean this happens everywhere, but I was watching it go down for 45 minutes so that's why I bring it up. Overall, if you're looking for non-Spanish food which is kind of hard to find, surprisingly in BCN, this spot is super authentic Pakistani, cheap and delicious. Cash only! They also changed their name to Village Spice or along those lines!
