Wanted to try some Indian food in Barcelona and glad we came across this place. Very lovely aesthetic on the inside and they even Serve the food in those metal plates which was nice. Portion size itself was fairly decent and I'm glad we ordered just the right amount of food for the group. The Chicken Dal (chicken dhansak I think they called it) was very unique! First time I've had a dish that was chicken and dal together and it was really nice. Loved the Chicken Tikka too! Lamb Rogan Josh actually came quite salty! Like it was unbelievably saw me so we told the server and they were quick to replace it. Even got us an extra dessert to make up at the end. Pudina Paratha was also quite nice! Flaky and just the right amount of flavor in there. Got the Gulab Jamun For dessert and it was the perfect amount of sweetness. I usually feel they end up getting too sugary sweet but this was perfect! They brought us one on the house and now that we had two on the table one of them was notably different from the other. I think it was just that it was extremely hot! Can I start off by saying I want to pack this place up and take it home with me. Coming from California I've had my good share of Indian food, but nothing beats the Indian food, like this place here. I was having a night in and decided to place an order for my friends and I for dinner and got some dishes. I don't know if it was because I was new to the app Glovo but a few dishes I wanted were part of a promotion and I ended up getting them half off. I placed the ordered and was told the establishment would handle the delivery. Within minutes I got a notification letting me know when the delivery would get there and exactly 40 minutes later it was. The chicken tikka masala was bright in hue and flavorful. It tasted so creamy and authentic. Not like "Americanized" Indian food. With that being said, the chicken was very moist, and the tomato sauce that covered it was so rich and delicious the extent of my vocabulary won't be able to describe its justice. The channa masala was also such a delight. I've never had this dish and I'm so glad I have nothing to compare it to. All I know is that the chick peas were soft, flavorful and not too oily. I feel as though I've been spoiled by this dish and when I get back to the states no other channa masala would compare. The naan bread here is denser and more flat than the ones I've had. I normally like it fluffy but this style made them a little chewier and I actually liked the texture a lot. It was great to dip in all the sauces. The chicken biryani was good as well. I loved the flavors, chunk of chicken, cashew and even the eggs. The mango lassi was definitely out of this world! So rich, creamy and they used really good yogurt! I actually saved some to enjoy later because I didn't want to finish it in one go. Overall the flavors and dishes were well made, well packaged and was perfect! Superb Indian cuisine! Mayura is truly the best of the best. Walked in without a reservation and the host was able to seat me immediately. I think I lucked out since people tend to eat later and I arrived a bit early for dinner. Nevertheless, it was an amazing experience. I have to first mention the ambience because wowza! Felt like I had just entered into some kind of Indian palace honestly. Talk about stylish! Loved the golden walls and red drapes with the colorful pillows and seat cushions on the sofas. The pretty water fountain near the entrance is not to be missed either. Gorgeous colorful chandeliers and lighting. Just absolutely stunning. Their wine, cocktail, and spirits list is extensive. They have several vegetarian and vegan options available that are clearly marked. You can order a la carte or choose from several different options on their tasting menu. I decided to with the dhaba tasting menu which features Indian tapas, a main dish + sides and dessert. The dhaba tasting menu came with the following: *Pappad: Light and tasty! Almost like a super thin flatbread or a lightly crunchy tortilla. They pair well with all of the dipping sauces provided. My first time ever trying this and I enjoyed it. *Pakora: Really good! I'm usually not a fan of pakora as I find it to be too salty and crunchy, but this one was virtually perfect. It was crispy without being too crunchy and lightly battered. *Samosa: Delicious! It was prepared almost like a wonton and looked as such which was different for me, but really I liked it. *Naan: Not fluffy and actually pretty thin and crispy, but still good. *Lemon rice: What you would expect of lemon rice. Fluffy with a nice lemony essence. *Chicken tikka masala: Wonderful! Thick and tender chicken breast pieces that are nicely seasoned and bathing in the creamiest and most fragrant tikka masala sauce. Couldn't get enough of the sauce. Ended up dipping almost everything in it. *Mango lassi: Sweet, thick, and the perfect way to close out a delicious meal. Not too heavy but still filling. I love mango lassi so I figured this one would be a winner. Also enjoyed my dinner with a few glasses on Grenache which tasted fabulous. Service was excellent and I even chatted with one of managers who told me that he had lived in the US for some years. I can see why this spot is highly regarded. After 4 days of tapas, we are craving for some spicy food and OMG! This place is definitely one of my favorite spots in Barcelona! We walked in without a reservation and luckily they have a table for us since it's already 2pm. But I would recommend making a reservation. Service is on point, everyone we talked to speaks good English and they are nice! Ambiance is relaxing and casual. I would come back for sure! Update: we went back yesterday 12/23/2022. This is the most reviewed Indian restaurant in the area so we decided to try something for dinner here. The ambience of the restaurant was good and were seated in the back room of the restaurant. We ordered the vegetarian platter and two mango lassis which came out to 38-40 Euros. I personally don't think that the food was all that great/worth that much $$$. The only items that seemed fresh/warm were the rotis and tiny bowl of dal. Everything else was pretty much room temperature. We literally only drank our lassis and ate the 4 pieces of roti with the dal. I also want to point out that the paneer was extreeeeeeemly dry. You can inspect my attached photos and videos to see if the cheese looks melted enough or if there is any steam coming up from the food haha (both no and no hahaha). We were highly recommended this restaurant by a friend on our visit to Spain so we made an effort to come here for lunch. The taste of the food was more towards non-Indian (not spicy at all). If we were aware we would have requested to up the spice level a bit. They were nice enough to be patient with us as we got there a bit late for lunch and were there till the time they closed to get ready for dinner rush. The ambience was nice and so was the seating as cushions and sofas were comfy however not ideal to have an Indian meal. For a first dining experience in Barcelona, this place didn't disappoint! Food:9/10- For €12.50 I got a meal that consisted of spaghetti, fish, rice, bread, dessert, and a drink! So much food for such a great price. The fish did have the bones in it which didn't take away from the taste, just a little annoying Service: 10/10- the servers know both Spanish and English, maybe more, so communication was super simple. We went to Mayura for lunch and were pleasantly surprised by the ambiance. The seating is cozy and we got a seat right next to the window. Service: SUCKS!!! I mean it took the waitress 5-10 minutes to even bring out the menu and offer us something to drink. When we ordered an additional item, it took them 20 minutes to bring it out (we were already done with lunch by that time). Food: The only option to order was the 'Thali'. I know it doesn't compare much, but I did come with high expectations because of the reviews left on here. I ordered the chicken tikki masala and my friend ordered the only chicken entree with the chili pepper next to it. We both ordered it to the spiciest level. Our waiter said "Are you sure?"He asked us 3 times. I was expecting some fire chicken, but instead my chicken lacked flavor and was nowhere near spicy. Same as my friend's. We also got garlic and plan nann. That too, was bland. Overall, the whole thing lacked flavor. The restaurant is bright and cute but the bench seats make it so awkward to eat with a friend, especially a tall one. I will say that the service was like America's though. The portions were just the right size to leave you stuffed as you walk out if you have had an appetizer and entree. They have an extensive and interesting drink menu, but I had my meal with a couple mango lassis. As far as price, I think it is a good value for what you get. One thing that also stands out from other Barcelona restaurants is the decor. It is nicely appointed in a comfortable atmosphere. There is a mix of contemporary and traditional. I highly recommend. To start off, I was shocked that the majority of the lunch menu was not Indian food. The Indian food was so-so and the wrong dessert was delivered. That'd be no big deal. When paying by credit card I requested (very politely and in Spanish) to be charged in Euros which was done. However a local English speaking guide was also nearby and mocked to the cashier my request. The cashier then rolled his eyes back to agree with the guide's mocking. I'll definitely not be back. And sorry if that English speaking guide has no clue that yes, fact, US credit cards are often charged in US Dollars rather than Euros so that the local bank charges a steeper conversion rate than my US bank. The choice of Euro vs US dollars is a standard question that pops up on the point of sale device. That English "guide" is clueless, not me. 1st of all, the address mentioned in yelp is inaccurate. 2nd, the dining space is good, nice atmosphere with a little fountain in the middle surrounded by candles. Food is average or below average, I have been in many other places which have better taste with less price. I would come over here just in one case that I want some of Indian taste and I have been away for along time from my preferred restaurants.
