In addition, area is provided for the many Clerk of Court operations including Sheriff security and holding spaces, office space for the Solicitor, Public Defender, Probation & Parole, Juvenile Justice, and Guardian ad Litem, and such. The largest courtroom on the second floor has seating for 241 people. Spartanburg County was created in 1785, though there were settlements in the area as early as 1761, primarily Scotch-Irish from Pennsylvania and Virginia. The city was known only as the "court-house village" until it was incorporated in 1831 and Spartanburg was created. It is in the geographic center of the county. The current structure replaces the fourth courthouse which had been built in 1891. The first three were in Morgan Square. There is a huge parking lot though many of the best spaces seem to be reserved for court employees and police. Once you do find parking, expect the usual security to enter the building. Desk to the left with books to the right at a diagonal. Had to print some stuff and was easily accommodated. Kinkos would have charged me $.49 per page, but the library charges only $.10. Plus I don't have to pay to use the computer. The system never seems to be able to print remotely from a laptop, which is a pain, but there are always empty computers to jump on.

The front of the marker reads, "The first office of the National Association of Soil Conservation Districts (NASCD) was located in the Montgomery Building on N. Church St. from 1946 to 1947. Soil conservation, with its focus on reducing erosion and flooding, became a nationwide effort during the Depression and gained additional funding and resources after World War II." And on the reverse, "The NASCD, organized in Chicago in 1946, elected E.C. McArthur of Gaffney, S.C., its first president. McArthur was instrumental in creating the NASCD as a national voice for soil conservation districts. T.S. Buie, director of the Southeast Office of the Soil Conservation Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, provided space here for the NASCD office." They are good neighbors and stay mainly involved with each other! I do find some of the things they do to be a bit contradictory. Who hasn't been visited by a couple of their young disciples well dressed and riding bicycles? And guess what? They do a high level of recruiting and witnessing that other faiths could learn some lessons about! I do find some of their beliefs a bit odd however! The JW's are strongly encouraged not to join groups outside of their faith and are discouraged from attaining higher education- college! Blood transfusions are not permitted even to save a person's life! In this I beg to differ! Like I said earlier in this review; you could do worse for neighbors! At least these people intend to do you no harm! I would advise anyone approached by these folks to ask them to return in a couple in months; that is if this religion interest you.
