Being in the mortgage industry, I naturally have met many financial planners in the DC metropolitan area. Frankly, many have turned me off with their arrogance and others have been too overly focused on their own personal, financial beliefs to meet the needs of others. Troy is wildly different from this and his genuine concern and desire to help clients from all different stages of life is clear as day. I am very careful about where I send any client of mine and it's nice to know that I can trust they'll be taken care of, when they meet with Troy.

When my husband and…read more I were initially searching for some support with our finances, we were looking for someone who could meet us at our level and explain financial topics in ways we could understand ( HSAs, Roth IRAs, Traditional IRAs, HYSAs, etc.) We were looking for someone who help us understand our current financial picture and whether we were saving enough to be able to retire at our desired age, be able to enjoy our current hobbies of traveling, and pay for medical expenses we will have. As a woman who got married later and came to my marriage with assets, I wanted to make sure I was making smart financial decisions with regards to my investments, savings, and spending habits as I know I will take home less money than my husband. We found that in Kevin and are so grateful for his knowledge and guidance. Kevin has helped me understand my financial portfolio and adjust my investment choices to match my financial goals. He has a unique approach to providing guidance with regards to finances which involves front loading the work together with weekly meetings the first month followed by check-ins and continued financial information through articles on various financial topics. We highly recommend working with Kevin if you are looking for solid guidance around your finances.

The experience you receive at Savant tax and business services is more than just crunching numbers…read more Jim Henderson, the owner, is more concern with his clients being educated about taxes and how they fit into their overall financial health rather than taking their money. I've been going to him for more than ten years for advice and services on anything that touches taxes: financial planning, annual taxes, real estate, and estate projects. Each time, Jim pulls up a chair and listens attentively to what you want to achieve. After listening, he begins to teach and discuss options with you in real-time taking everything that you shared into consideration--just like a good financial educator. Never once has he pushed products or services. I always leave his office informed and knowing how to proceed. This year, he educated me on how President Trump's new tax law will adversely affect me next year. Last year, I did an $800 tax experiment. I hired one of the best accountants around to do my annual taxes. This accountant has many awards and received excellent Yelp reviews. I also gave Jim my taxes. Since I have a long tenure with Jim, I wanted to see if I was still receiving the best tax services. The verdict: Jim won! My federal refund alone was more than my combined state and federal refund from the award winning accountant. Jim always sits down with me after doing my taxes to show how he did the work and what I should consider for the following year. My recommendation...give him a call.
