So, we made our way back up to the upper lake, where bait is permitted. The upper lake was fairly crowded and a bit noisy (sound really carries there), but it's a beautiful spot overall--small, peaceful, and scenic. We stayed for about two hours, didn't catch anything, but did spot a few fish swimming around. Still a pleasant visit!

Yet the 25th(today) is my 54th birthday & I was ready to be home for the week. We came home very rested with plenty of beautiful pics & cool experiences to tell friends & family.

I've been to Lynx Lake a few times, and this recent visit was pretty similar to my past…read moreexperiences. I'm giving it a 3-star review mainly because the lake has recently been drained and they want it to refill naturally, so it's unclear when water levels will return to normal. There is also a $5 day-use fee to enter the park. You can pay cash or card. Currently, the park opens at 7:00 AM and the gates close at 5:00 PM. The trail around the lake is about 2.5 miles and offers a few different routes, including at least one path that leads to a small waterfall (or what would be a waterfall if the lake wasn't drained). The west side of the lake is more paved and level, making it easier for walking, while the east side is more rugged with a dirt trail. One thing to add, the bathrooms were clean, but they had smell in them was hard to ignore and really unpleasant. Overall, it's still a nice area for a casual walk around the lake, especially if you're in the area.

Nice lil park in a small community but open to anyone wishing a place to relax a bit or take a…read morestroll around the well made path around it to get in some exercise or take your dog, cat, turtle or whatever you might have as a pet. Haha. There is a separate area for dogs to exercise without running out in front of a vehicle or anything and getting hurt. I'd bet it'd be ok to take your pup around on the trail as your walk so long as your a responsible pet owner and cleans up after it should an accident be made. There are a few grills for use, and a gazebo in the event one of Arizona finest sunny, instantly pouring rain, then back to sunshine all within a short amount of time type of day. Plus there is actual restrooms on site and not just port-a-potties. There is a park keeper whom does a great job at keeping out park in great shape. He puts out the American Flags, and POW flags all along the parks edge during the days we are to be in remembrance of our fallen etc. There's a Basketball court available as well, or so there used to be. It wasn't used very much that I'm aware of so it might just be an empty area. So please use the park as it's meant to be and that way we'll all get to benefit from it for many years to come.

One of the trails passes through an area with several bird houses while another trail has historical plaques commemorating important woman scientists. There are also a number of poetry plaques scattered along the trails and an interesting bridge over a water catchment area. The trails are partially shaded if you go in the morning.

If you want to rock hunt and experience a remote mining area with classic high desert landscape,…read more the portion of Black Canyon Trail starting at the intersection of Antelope Creek Rd and Crown King Forest Rd 59 is a great trail. The parking area is easy to access from the I-17 by taking the Bloody Basin exit, driving 3 miles west on a good dirt road, then heading south for 2.7 miles on Antelope Creek Rd (179), take a left at the fork and drive 1.3 more miles and turn left at a stop sign and another immediate left to park at a round water tank and corral. The hike heads across FR 59 following a single track, signed trail to the south. Numerous mountain bike tracks were seen on the trail, though on a Friday we did not see any cyclists or other hikers. There are numerous outcrops of quartz and iron rich rocks that are fun to search through, and excellent views to the Bradshaws and the valleys to the east and south. Walk as far as you like on the easy trail. As you return to your vehicle, take a detour to the old Hidden Treasure Mine a short distance up a Jeep trail. There is a rusted tank, some pipes and an old Adobe structure to look at, though no rock hunting. Give the old talus piles a miss as they have clearly been used to target practice with a lot of scattered glass bottles and rusted tin cans. Before leaving the area walk around the corral to the south where there is a lovely pond with a few old sycamores and water reeds. We did not see a pump, so the water may be from a natural spring.
