We made it out one last time this season to the Cider Mill. At the end of November when you stop in, it is usually way less busy and it definitely was nice to not wait in line outside to get in. However, there is less products inside so that's the trade off. We were still able to get all the favorites. We got a dozen of the cider donuts and they were absolutely delicious as always. We also stocked up on apple cider and even picked up some of the last jars of jam and pancake mix. It was nice to have the whole place essentially to ourselves to end the season. We also had some slushies and coffees as well which was a nice cheers to next year when we will go to opening day again. read more

I ordered a pie for Christmas and they gave me the wrong one and the woman who took my order over the phone got it wrong and the baker was a asshole treating people as if your bothering them slapping pies in a box to go. Only 3 because each time I've come here my cider slushie has been different. First time the cider slushie was perfect in regards to consistency. My 2nd time this season, I was pretty much handed a cup of cider as the place was so busy hay the cider didn't have a chance to get to the temp it needed to become slush. 3rd time the cider came out of the machine so thick that it looked like it was soft serve ice cream and the woman only filled my cup 3/4 of the way until I asked for it to be filled. I usually get the doughnuts made with apple cider, but I always have to get one or two of the sprinkle topped doughnuts because it takes me back to my childhood. Came here on a weekday morning on a rainy day and there was no line thank goodness. We were excited to try these apple cider donuts as it seems like it's pretty popular among the locals. The donuts we got were pretty good and stayed moist for several days but it didn't seem fresh or warm. It had a hint of apple cider flavor. I'm not a fan of apple cider but I ordered the apple cider slushy anyway. It was way too sweet and tasted exactly like what you would expect except icey and cold. The warm coffee is the same one you could make in the office in their carafes so nothing special. Arrived at 1pm on Saturday from Buffalo proper and was prepared for a line based on warnings from friends. With social distancing and limited people in the store, took about 40 minutes to make it into the store. Much of the social distancing is self-regulated as the employees seem very busy. Definitely plan ahead and come early if you don't want to wait in line or visit on the weekday. I felt like a kid in a candy shop: something to smell, pick up, or order the moment you walk through the doors until you cash out. I left with a couple of donuts, a mini berry pie, half a gallon of cider, and an apple slushie. It was a great start to my day and would definitely return. So this review isn't really on the store, but on one particular product. As the Covid quarantine lingers on, I found myself cleaning out some kitchen drawers. I came across a packet of Mayer Bros Buffalo Wing bread. Not even recalling when I bought it, the use by date was July 2020. All you need is a can of beer so I dusted it off and figured why not. Going to the Mayer Bros Cider Mill is an annual tradition that I'm grateful we were able to maintain this year, despite all the local closures from COVID. Stanchions were placed for customers to form a queue along the parking lot to the left of the entrance, but social distancing wasn't necessarily enforced. Markings were placed on the floor to encourage standing 6' apart, but again, this wasn't necessarily enforced. As for the mill itself, they offer delicious baked goods including apple pies, cake donuts with granulated sugar, powdered sugar, cinnamon sugar, cream cheese frosting, chocolate frosting, and sprinkle-topped, as well as apple cider donuts with all the same topping options. There are donuts with a chopped nut topping, for those with allergies to be aware of. Aside from baked goods, they offer cider in a variety of sizes, and, a customer-favorite, the cider slushie! There's also a refrigerated section of local cheeses and other delicacies, including caramel apples. Along the interior section of the store are old-fashioned candies like C Howard's Violet candy & different flavors of stick candy. I also spotted bags of sanded Horehound candies for purchase. My heart feels so full every time I visit Mayer Bros. I've been visiting for years and there's been some exciting recent updates I've noticed. Huge example, there's a side parking lot many people never knew about because it was never connected to the shop. They poured a beautiful concrete sidewalk and now it's much safer walking away from the street. (Also recommend using this lot because the spots against the street are extremely stressful backing out of) They're open everyday 6am-8pm. Extremely flexible hours for busy families. They opened in August this year and that was super exciting. Had all typical products and they're fabulous. They have a large selection of fresh baked good, but I can't possibly leave there without getting a cider slushie. They're extremely about the environment and support reducing and recycling. You can bring in a reusable cup the size near the size of their slushie cups and they'll fill those for you. Also for sale are tons of cute gift ideas, recipe ideas, and cider jugs to take home.
