There's something that just gets you ready for Fall like a trip to the Cider Mill. We ventured over and took a look inside at all the new stock for the year. There is way more than just cider and donuts here. We found the donuts we came for which was the win for me. We also found kettle corn, candy apples, cheese curds, and some apple cider slushies. All of which looked delicious and later on were definitely delicious. The donuts are the main star of the show for me here. Something about an apple cider donut just screams Fall for me and they're so good, I feel like I could eat a dozen by myself. They also have a bunch of Fall and Halloween decor here for sale which is right around the corner so we checked out all that too. 2 At best I spent $80.00 bucks for an apple pie apple cider apple butter a dozen donuts and 2 things of fudge. The donuts were pretty good the apple butter was ok. The fudge was really good. But the apple cider was so bad and must of been made months ago it tasted like apple cider vinegar yuk . The apple pie was so sweet you could not tell ther was anything else than sugar in that pie. The service from the donut girl did not like working here her pushy attitude proved it. So I tossed out the pie and tossed out the vinegar (Apple cider) in the trash next time I'll save the gas and the money and go to Walmart for better quality and same rude service. read more

Went on a Friday afternoon and still was in line for 15 minutes but who is complaining nobody ! It's cider time at Mayer Brothers cider Mills. my daughter loves there Vidalia onion steak sauce and she got River Rat jalapeno cheese. I ordered a pie for Christmas and they gave me the wrong one and the woman who took my order over the phone got it wrong and the baker was a asshole treating people as if your bothering them slapping pies in a box to go. I came in from Niagara Falls planning h on bringing the pie for dessert but that didn't happen because the incompetent people presently there don't care for the customers in which in fact if your in the hospitality industry, "the customer is always right. .....well not at Mayer bro. The first of my fall festivities! Every year we have to make a stop here for cider and donuts. We got a 1/2 dozen donuts, and I love that they have vanilla donuts and apple donuts. I LOVE the apple donuts. The cream cheese one is delicious. The staff works hard to get the lines moving quickly. This is my family's favorite place!! We moved away from Buffalo a couple of years ago, but we make it a priority to visit Mayor Bros whenever we are up North! Every time I come here I say "why don't we come here more often?" And then I buy two dozen donuts and realize - oh yeah, that's why. I am admittedly NOT a donut person, but somehow this place manages to make me into one. As someone who doesn't even indulge in Paula's when its offered, it's shocking to me that I am as obsessed as I am, but there's just something about the Cider Mill that makes my heart beat a little faster. There is nearly always a lime out the door when you stop in on the weekend but it moves very quickly so no worries there. The donuts are all amazing. Only 3 because each time I've come here my cider slushie has been different. First time the cider slushie was perfect in regards to consistency. My 2nd time this season, I was pretty much handed a cup of cider as the place was so busy hay the cider didn't have a chance to get to the temp it needed to become slush. 3rd time the cider came out of the machine so thick that it looked like it was soft serve ice cream and the woman only filled my cup 3/4 of the way until I asked for it to be filled. I asked for three gave three specific ones I wanted, and she only gave me two. Not what I wanted. And of course I got charged for three. This place is overpriced and overrated. Skip it! I've seen the lines of people flocking to this destination on the weekends that have been posting on Insta. The answer is no. I would not be caught up in that even though these are the most delicious doughnuts in the area, and I would fight you on that. Forget Paula's, they will do in a pinch. I crave these doughnuts from Mayer Bros, and because they are only available during a short season, I try to get out there at least twice. This was my first go around. I arrived on a Wednesday and was in and out in about 10 minutes. The doughnuts are moist and delicious. The flavor is out of this world. I usually get the doughnuts made with apple cider, but I always have to get one or two of the sprinkle topped doughnuts because it takes me back to my childhood. But who am I really kidding, who doesn't like sprinkles a top their doughnuts? I wish they made these with apple cider in it. I also picked up some dip packets where you just add sour cream. Came here on a weekday morning on a rainy day and there was no line thank goodness. We were excited to try these apple cider donuts as it seems like it's pretty popular among the locals. The donuts we got were pretty good and stayed moist for several days but it didn't seem fresh or warm. The apple cider donuts with cinnamon sugar were the best as well as the glazed apple cider donuts. It's a pretty soft dense cakey donut. They had an plain one which wasn't too sweet. It had a hint of apple cider flavor. I'm not a fan of apple cider but I ordered the apple cider slushy anyway. It was way too sweet and tasted exactly like what you would expect except icey and cold. The warm coffee is the same one you could make in the office in their carafes so nothing special. One of the most wonderful fall activities you can partake in: grabbing some deliciousness at Mayer Bros. Arrived at 1pm on Saturday from Buffalo proper and was prepared for a line based on warnings from friends. With social distancing and limited people in the store, took about 40 minutes to make it into the store. Much of the social distancing is self-regulated as the employees seem very busy. Definitely plan ahead and come early if you don't want to wait in line or visit on the weekday. I felt like a kid in a candy shop: something to smell, pick up, or order the moment you walk through the doors until you cash out. I left with a couple of donuts, a mini berry pie, half a gallon of cider, and an apple slushie. It was a great start to my day and would definitely return. Parking: plenty in front and in 2 nearby lots within a 30 sec walk of the entrance. read more

A fall favorite! I am so happy the cider mill had been opening earlier in the season! I need to get my fix before I leave for school in the fall! Holy moly though, this place is a huge piece of my childhood. Going to the cider mill, grabbing donuts and a cider slushy and riding their complementary horse ride. Such a great tradition. I always make sure to grab an apple cider donut when I'm here, they sure are tasty and in my opinion better than the regular ones. So this review isn't really on the store, but on one particular product. As the Covid quarantine lingers on, I found myself cleaning out some kitchen drawers. I came across a packet of Mayer Bros Buffalo Wing bread. Not even recalling when I bought it, the use by date was July 2020. All you need is a can of beer so I dusted it off and figured why not. Theses things couldn't be easier if they tried. Add beer, stir, bake. It came out perfectly! My only grumble is I would have liked a little more heat in the dough. Going to the Mayer Bros Cider Mill is an annual tradition that I'm grateful we were able to maintain this year, despite all the local closures from COVID. Stanchions were placed for customers to form a queue along the parking lot to the left of the entrance, but social distancing wasn't necessarily enforced. Markings were placed on the floor to encourage standing 6' apart, but again, this wasn't necessarily enforced. As for the mill itself, they offer delicious baked goods including apple pies, cake donuts with granulated sugar, powdered sugar, cinnamon sugar, cream cheese frosting, chocolate frosting, and sprinkle-topped, as well as apple cider donuts with all the same topping options. There are donuts with a chopped nut topping, for those with allergies to be aware of. Aside from baked goods, they offer cider in a variety of sizes, and, a customer-favorite, the cider slushie! There's also a refrigerated section of local cheeses and other delicacies, including caramel apples. Along the interior section of the store are old-fashioned candies like C Howard's Violet candy & different flavors of stick candy. I also spotted bags of sanded Horehound candies for purchase. I may have been here decades ago. I'm pretty sure that I have. Anyhow. While I like apple cider, I don't live for it. No doubt that it's tasty however tomato juice is my preferred beverage of juice choice. Stopped in last week to purchase some local/season related food choices. Didn't think they would have a major effect on my future purchases - but they did. Donuts/frycakes. WOW!!!! I don't really eat these however the three that I purchased were history by evening. Moist. Tasty. OMG - so good! The pie (6 inch) was good. I was not a fan of the crust to filling ratio however I will survive. The filling was not super sweet and not too thick. Come fall time there is only one donut for me (sorry not Paula's) and I'm willing to stand in that line to get it. But, don't worry, the line moves fast as they are always staffed appropriately this time of year and there are lots of goodies to admire along the way! Some of the selections of donuts are made with their cider and even the smallest of appetites can put away a couple without getting that sick sugar tummy ache . They no longer serve free samples of cider (too many bees, kids are too soft now, I dodged those bees for years) but you gotta splurge and get a frozen cider slushee, they are refreshing and pair well with the baked goods!
