This place is fully authentic and a small little place. The music is great and the staff is great. You can literally see them cooking from your table. I gave them a 3, but it should be 3.5 because the caldo de res( beef soup) was missing flavor. Maybe garlic or celery I'm not sure but it was missing something it was just okay. The tacos de carne asada were really good. I think they are known for their tacos and not other food. Also I asked for a Jamaica juice and got horchata. I didn't complain cause it was still really good, but it wasn't what I ordered lol. We also had a 3 leches cake and it was also ok. They have parking in the front of the restaurant but parking is tight. Lots of cars coming in and out of the shopping center. read more

They really do have good food, but I understand that the letters are silent in Spanish language, but damn their attitude meaning the manager was very nasty trying to explain there was a mixup with my order. She kept saying her language, but instead of try to help me correct myself or however it just really made me feel uncomfortable, but don't have to worry about me ordering from them over again. read more

I love this place it's right next to my work. It's a staple for authentic Mexican food. Everything taste fresh, my favorite is their house salad with chicken. But recently I had their pollo a la plancha and it's so tasty! I also love how they play Spanish music in the background. read more

Several missing items were found and reported to Grubhub but as we ate we later realized there were more items or food we paid for that never arrived. 2. A nice Mexican restaurant. I totally love the free nachos they offered as I read the menu, and the free dessert at the end, flan and chocolate cake, is quite delicious too. The waitress even packed it in the a plastic bag with spoons when I was too full to eat it there. I ordered some tacos, but was disappointed that they don't have some of the options listed. This place looks, feels, smells, sounds, and tastes authentic. I have spent three years living in Central America and this is as authentic as it gets. The staff spoke very limited English, but were friendly and understanding of this gringo in Homestead. The menu is mainly in Spanish, with some non-descriptive English subtitles. Study up on your Mexican menu items, review their menu linked on yelp, and step outside your comfort zone if you are an anglo. My first visit was for a weekday lunch - around 10. I was the only customer. I had the Huevos a la Mexicana which was a FULL plate with eggs scrambled Mexican style with green peppers and onions, rice, re-fried beans and goat cheese. Delicious it took me so long to eat this plate that the lunch crowd started to come in before I finished. I was in disbelief that there was so much quality cooked food for $7.50. I came back a week later with my family in tow for dinner. Outer building is lit up decoratively giving it the best face possible in a strip mall. The inside was appropriately lit for a dinner meal and the restaurant had more people, but not crowded or noisy. We had a variety of dinner plates, which were all delicious with generous servings. My thoughts are two fold: they have some very sweet servers here who are as hospitable as they get combined with a restaurant that is nearly spotless. I really enjoyed my meal at this Mexican restaurant. Tacos de carne asada were seasoned very nicely, the house chips come served nacho style which was different but great and the guacamole was fresh and savory. They have a small bar with all the fresh fixings you could want to put on your dish. I emphasize FRESH because it was immaculate and vibrant: fresh chopped onions, cilantro, tomatoes, limes, pico de gallo, and more. Driving through Homestead on our way to the Keys and the family all agreed on tacos for lunch and we all left satisfied. I recommend this place if you want your authentic taco fix. read more

On the way to Key West we picked up a reference to this place on yelp. It's a drive-up/sit-down restaurant in the middle of a small strip mall. We had some tacos and guacamole and chips and they were fresh and prepared quickly. Lots of juicy chicken, lime wedges, fresh onion and cilantro. Only once in a blue moon do I get this far south, but when I do, stopping for Mexican in Little Mexico makes the trip. I've tried a few other restaurants here, but so far, Maya-Mex takes the postre. Nice little place, family run, with great, affordable food. My only complaint was that the steak was a little dry. This was remedied by all the condiment options: cilantro, pico de gallo, green tomatillo salsa, pickled vegetables, and many more. The lengua tacos were also delicious. To top it off, they brought us over a complimentary rice dessert (sorry, I don't know what it's called). The waitress didn't speak English, but was extremely friendly and we managed to communicate what we wanted with ease. Next time we're in town Maya-Mex with have some return customers. read more

Stepping out of the car, it was like a scene from a Floridian version of Breaking Bad. Streets lined with chain restaurants, tired looking palm trees and tinted SUVs with chrome wheels and pickups slowly cruising round the parking lot. Maya-Mex shares a strip mall with an eclectic mix of stores, ranging from an insurance agency to a bible store and a prosthetics repairer, but we're glad we stopped here. We were the only non-Spanish speakers there that day, but it didn't matter. The staff were really friendly, we were given some complementary fried tortillas and frijoles refritos to start, and when our food came, it was great. The tostadas were huge and delicious (try holding a dinner plate sized disc up to your face and eating it delicately!) and the tacos equally good. Some gesturing from the waitress indicated that there was salad, cilantro, and various chillies available at the counter too. To top it off, they had some delicious mexican ice-creams available- chocolate with condensed milk, rice pudding and tequila amongst the flavors. This town certainly isn't a destination, but if you're traveling through, be sure to stop here. read more

The smell when you first walk in is pretty random. I think it's the smell of tortillas baking or whatever. Hours later and I still smell funky. Boy does that smell stick. Another warning: no menus. So you have to know what you like. The waitress does speak English. But if you don't know what you're getting in to. Then you might just end up getting real simple food. I got the taco de lenguas. Today my wife and I were craving for some good homemade flavors Mexican food. I recalled MayaMex as one place I've been wanting to visit for a while. It's a 30 minutes from home. Now, let me get to straight to the point. My wife ordered the typical burrito "to be on the safe side" and I chose the Mole. As appetizers we ordered a guacamole side, and they brought a small complimentary side order of chips with cheese and pico de gallo. The guacamole was ok but missed the citrus hint of the lemon. The chips serving was a very small amount but ok, nothing out if the ordinary. The main dishes were brought to us in a timely manner. The burrito was "empty inside" as my wife best described it, just lettuce inside. The flavors were not there either. In regards to my Mole, the plate consisted of chicken mole, yellow rice and beans. What can I say? The chicken was dry, the rice was flavorless, and the consistency of the Mole, as well as the taste, was that of the "Doña María" brand found in the grocery store. The beans were good and warm but tasteless. To sum it up, avoid this place by all cost. You'll be saving yourself some money and a huge disappointment. read more

Ive been to this place a lot. Overall its ok but everytime I come across the waitress Jonary I can almost always expect terrible service and unprofessionalism. I have no idea what her problem is. Its to a point that If I see her im walking right back out. For example, I always pay with a credit card here. I order the same thing everytime. When I pay with her she says its a $10 minimum of which I say I pay with cc everytime. Her response is, "Who is it that you paid with so I can get her in trouble"....Who says that.... This Mexican place is authentic, homey, and delicious. I got a barbacoa and an asada taco; both were really good, plus they had a self-serve taco topping bar.
