I took a Leather Earrings Craft Workshop with May on 12/4/21. It. Was. Amazing!!! The other students were fabulous company, and I can't say enough great things about May as an artist, teacher, and facilitator. She is so friendly and warm. She had beautiful materials. She provided excellent guidance and suggestions when needed. And she knew just what we needed to keep the flow of the class. We got to do the fun stuff, selecting, cutting, and arranging materials, while she punched holes, added jump rings, and earring hooks. We all were able to make several beautiful sets of earrings to keep or gift. They looked amazing. It was wonderful to be creative and focused for a few hours. I LOVE to craft, but sometimes you want to experiment without purchasing all the tools and materials necessary to complete a project. This workshop was the perfect example of a class that allowed me to be completely creative without having to worry about purchasing materials and tools, learning about using those materials and tools, and then storing those materials and tools indefinitely in my garage (adding to my husband's great sadness over the state of our garage). This class happened during COVID, and I felt very safe. Everyone was wearing masks. read more

May made a custom necklace for me that incorporated a cherished family memento. Both the necklace and the experience were awesome! She was easy to work with, communicative and talented. She provided me with mock-ups and listened to feedback. She took great care with every detail down to the chain! Finally, we met up to try on the final piece, and she was sweet and warm. I had been holding onto a bullet-casing from my grandfather's funeral for 15 years. I always wanted to turn it into a necklace to wear close to my heart, but it was challenging to find the right artist. I had bought one of May's necklaces previously and it was my favorite piece of jewelry, so finally I looked up May and asked if she would make a custom piece to showcase my memento. She said yes!! She took such care to honor my grandfather's memory adding winged touches to show what an angel he is. Now I have a beautiful necklace and a reminder of my amazing Gramps! read more

May hosted a painting class for my work team this year and the results were amazing. May is an engaging teacher and exceptional artist who was able to walk about 25 of us (with very limited painting experience) through the process. The end results were shockingly good considering our lack of experience and talent! I stepped out of my comfort zone yesterday, and took a painting class by myself. It was a small class that I really appreciated because I was able to connect with May when I needed help or ideas. May is a wonderful teacher - patient and very knowledgeable about the mediums she works with. I took her belt class and took home more than just an awesome belt. I have a new appreciation for leather, and all that goes into crafting a leather piece. From the tooling to the dying to adding the hardware - we did it all!
