My motor…read morewas getting oil in my water separator and I had a broken plastic fuel vent on the side of the hull. Another shop had quoted $1550 for motor tune up and valve. Turns out the issue was a simple check valve that allowed oil to flow back into the water separator. EC changed out the valve, the separator filter and a new fuel filter and installed a new custom flush mounted vent valve.. Cost a fraction of what the first company was quoting, saved well over $1000 and the boat runs like a top now. I can't say enough good things about Rudy at Cruzan Marine. After dealing with other mechanics who…read morewere giving me the runaround and trying to sell unnecessary work, finding Rudy was a huge relief. Rudy is knowledgeable, honest, and extremely good at diagnosing problems. Instead of guessing or replacing random parts, he actually takes the time to understand what's going on and explain it clearly. What really sets him apart is that he's not a salesman -- he's a true mechanic. He tells you what needs to be done, what doesn't, and why. In my case he identified several issues that other mechanics either missed or handled poorly and fixed them the right way. He communicates well, shows up when he says he will, and clearly takes pride in doing things properly. On top of that he's friendly, straightforward, and just a genuinely good person to deal with. If you own a boat and need a mechanic, do yourself a favor and call Rudy first. It will save you time, money, and a lot of frustration. Highly recommended!
