This is my local grocery store, but I only visit it when I need something right away or if I forgot…read moresomething at the regular (bigger) grocery store I usually go to. Likes: *Staff is friendly, but super Quebecer so prepare yourself if you don't speak French. ;) *Booze is CHEAP, and half of it is actually refrigerated. Whoop! *Most items come from Quebec, which is nice. Local products are important to me. *They carry the usual basic stuff, but they also have a small shelf with tahini, lentils and other indian goods. :) *Whenver they have sales, they're usually great. *They only sometimes carry non-refrigerated soy milk. But when they do, it's usually on sale for two for $4, so I'm happy when they have some. *This store takes back your empties, given they're not hard liquor bottles. Cans must be disposed of in the machine at the front entrance, but glass beer bottles can be dropped off at the customer service desk for refunds. *The store is clean and well maintained, although it could use some better lighting and a fresh coat of paint. *There is ample parking space here. Dislike(s): *The veggies are overpriced (for the most part), and for some reason they don't carry fresh cilantro even if there is a sign for it, and they sell every other type of herb, except for cilantro. (???) *The entire store, to me, is slightly overpriced. I'm not sure why... maybe because it's indepentely owned and not as big as the others? Who knows... *Prices on vegan basics, such as chickpeas, tahini and black beans are sold at much higher prices than I'm ready to pay. For example: A 19oz. can of chickpeas, on sale... sells for $1.19 plus tax. Like, woah. Tofu is sold at $3.99 for a block, regular price. Most specialty stores (like La Boîte à Grains, which is a 5-minute drive away) sell the same tofu for $2.99... and they're a specialty store... so I tend to only buy it here if I'm stuck. I know it's just a dollar... but hey, every dollar counts when your grocery bill runs up to about $80! All in all this is a pretty quiet and basic grocery store, with everything an omnivore could be looking for (meat, cheese, eggs, milk and bread)... but if you're a vegan like me, I really don't recommend you choose this store as your regular go-to place. Not only is everything a little pricey, they often don't have decent looking vegetables or decently-priced veg options, let alone a good selection... don't think you'll be able to find many options for fake meats here. If you're vegan and you need a grocery store for veggies close to this one, choose the Maxi near the Promenades. They have HUGE tubs of Tahini for the same price as the much smaller jars at this Provigo, and their produce is MADs cheaper and they have a WAY better selection. Just saying.
