After signing a contract in April, and paying the 50% they refused to proceed with the job of replacing our sliding glass doors, unless we paid an additional 25% ($5000) above the agreed price. This bait and switch tactic is unprofessional and unethical. They have my deposit, leaving me frustrated and out of pocket. Cover and move your own stuff. Fitted sheets and towels work well. It's windy here. They are eager to please and the work is as good as it probably gets. It's a tough business and these guys are in it to win it. Communication is key. Speak up and they will respond. However, 3 screens were either damaged or not in the shipment, so they had to come back. When they did, it was at 7 pm and they apologized for having to pressure us for some money we had withheld. A window spring is still missing and we will negotiate with them to receive the entire shipment before we settle the bill. Stay tuned. Also, I am unable to remove stars on Yelp. We had a whole house of 35 impact windows and 3 sets of sliders installed. They did a phenomenal job and were installed in just under 3 days. The quality of the window construction is better than the rest. A bit more expensive, but if you want your house to hold up in a 200mph wind scenario, it's worth it. Beware of the company!, Max Guard windows were scheduled for installation in Nov 2020 with a$50,000 deposit, install started in Feb 2021 due to delivery issues. The installation started out great, with friendly workers, but ended up horrible after weeks of sloppy installation and sliding doors not fitted correctly. My house was so covered in the dust for more than two weeks that my guest had to move out due to breathing problems. The A/ C filters were completely blocked. I wrote a 2-page list of things to be addressed but for the most part, was ignored. Repairs were done slowly, intermittently, and mostly substandard with the second serviceman having to do what the first did wrong, a demand for payment in full was demanded each time. SOME OF THE ISSUES: Exterior doors installed and damaged: shower door installed with clear glass-they replaced it after a year but the lock has never worked- I can't open the door and am still waiting for it to be fixed: slider doors installed too loose and A/C loss is so bad that my electric bills are much higher than before: frogs, lizards, and salamanders come in thru the gaps, pressure cleaning water comes in thru the tracks: Door latches are hard to operate except for one of the six doors. One door gap was fixed but now the door doesn't operate smoothly,; my expensive shade was damaged during the repair, the exterior was horribly finished, then they refinished and still is not done professionally with stucco but a metal band that is out of character and crooked. One repair was done on the outside with a wooden baseboard that warped and should never be used; Installer tried to use pine studs to frame the sliders instead of pressure-treated wood. I stopped them and got pressure-treated wood myself for them to use but am not sure they did as they had to tear out what was already done wrong and I had to go to work. Beware as the contract says: not when the job is done; but, when the inspection is completed by the building inspector, payment in full is due regardless of all kinds of issues. My job never would have passed inspection, was not complete or correct yet they insisted on payment in full and said the rest would be completed as warranty work. The inspection was bogus as the inspector never came thru the inside or outside of the house but signed off from the distance of my barn where the installer was waiting for him. I recently discovered that because of COVID they could have the installer just meet the inspector. It has been two years since the job started and a year since the inspection.I held back $5,000 out of a $105,000 job and was threatened that they would not make corrections or finish unless I paid the balance in advance. Maxguard would not make things right or replace the doors unless I paid them first. I paid $2500 when they replaced the damaged doors, and held back $2500 to be paid when all was done. I'm still waiting and praying they will make the sliding doors right and have my locks working. I don't mind paying the balance, I just want a job that is complete. I feel abused and taken advantage of due to COVID, my age, and being single. I am in my 70s, I am frightened that my house has been damaged beyond my ability to repair, and my anxiety is overwhelming. I have been threatened with a lawsuit and lien if I do not pay even though things are not correctly done. It takes months to get them to come and do a single thing, they harass me each time for the balance even though they don't finish and don't return for weeks. None of the locks they put on my doors work correctly. It would cost me more than what I am withholding to make the needed adjustments and repairs. I am hoping by posting this they will do what is right and treat me and others as valued customers. At least others may be able to avoid such a never-ending nightmare. I could include more photos and horrors but surely this is enough to justify a complaint. read more

Started install in November. Still waiting for parts For three windows. maxguard got their money and they haven't made an attempt to make it right since. Co owner, Peter, even came out. Said he would make it right. That was two months ago. they left two rather large holes on both sides of the inside of our front door for us to fix. This is after the wrong front door showed up, French doors installed backwards, one French door didn't lock correctly, months and months of repairs, new ultra lifts, lift assists, and we are still waiting for parts for three windows. No attempt to fix the holes by the front door. I am so discouraged by the whole process, very dissatisfied with Maxguard. On top of all of the above, installers left and dumped their garbage in the yard for us to clean up. Also, I told the owner that I was not signing the paperwork until it's all done. Peter's response "you can't expect perfection and you have to honor the contract since inspection passed". Peter also said that he has won all the cases that went to court. Beware of this company. There is no white glove treatment of your house or property. They hire unskilled and unqualified installers. There is not one thing that was done right. Installers are not qualified to do any finish work, drywall or stucco. Stucco had to be re-done on our three french doors. Sanded off the 3D effect and re-stucco. All the drywall work around windows had to be re-done. Finish work on inside door trim had to be re-done. Be very aware of hiring this company. Still waiting for entry door trim, 4th time. They did not order proper trim from manufacture, instead someone tried to pass off Home Depot trim that they painted to try to match door. Deceptive and dishonest. read more

We got several quote for hurricane windows and doors, max guard was the most expensive, however we went with them anyway figuring they were a quality shop. The workers could not community in English, they scratched my floors , got caulk on my furniture and bed pillows. No response on that to date regarding those issues. The door was not installed right and therefore not level, they tried to "fix" it. Made a bigger mess and had to get manufacture to give them a new The workman ship was very poor, operation manager said he was going to fire the guys that did the installation. Them why are you sending them to my house? The finish work is very poor can't even measure right! I had to point out issues and tell them what to clean and what drywall repair needed fixed. Don't waste your money with these guys who don't care at all about your home! It all seemed great up front, even got over 50% off (which brought the price to what it should be in the first place, hah). Windows were okay but have some bent frame pieces and aren't nearly as nice as the ones in the showroom. Doors came with all wrong and mis-matched hardware, and 11 months later it's still not resolved. My exterior doors don't operate properly and despite a half dozen "fixes" from MaxGuard, they still require two hands to lock because they don't line up. One tech bolted the door using a zip tie, so these guys are real classy. The door company rep from Advisar Doors came out and said all the doors were not up to standard and would be replaced. He even criticized MaxGuard's install of the sliders and windows. Then after a few weeks of crickets, he ignored my attempts to reach him and MaxGuard claims he never said that. Besides that, during the install they broke a marble window sill and damaged several of my walls, inside and out. I just want my doors to work properly and have the hardware I ordered. MaxGuard just keeps giving me lip service and does not care about doing what they were paid to do. Stay away from MaxGuard! read more

The installers, those guys are one point! They went way above what the standards are to put my windows in. They left my house clean & my yard too!It was a huge job and they came in on schedule! We ordered 4 exterior doors, and ALL the doors have been replaced 3-4 times because their contractors ruined them putting them in. It's been SO frustrating. Maxguard also lied to us about having the licensure to enclose our patio with windows and doors. After lying to us that the project manager was being overseen by a GC, they in fact didn't have a GC at all on the project and the job had to be demoed and started again WITH a GC. We are going on 2 years of work being done and redone by them and they still don't have it right, or done. They've been reported to the state, and the city is watching them closely. If you don't know anything about installation or construction, they WILL take advantage of you. Don't let these clowns in your home! Their turnover rate for all the employees and contractors in this company is faster than a Chik-fil-a drive through. No one wants to work for them with all the headaches they create because of their negligence. Doug was quick to come out and personally show us the windows and all the options they offered. After meeting with him we had high hopes that this would be a smooth process. Perhaps we were unlucky, but the initial crew they sent to measure our windows, measured incorrectly. Then a different, second, crew was sent to do the actual installation, but the incorrect measurements then further delayed the installation process because once they began because they had to make adjustments. The work took about a week to complete and the final product is a mess cosmetically (very messy caulking work and they left things various things unfinished, screens came ripped). They began at beginning of March, it is now April and they still have not resolved all the issues. We had spoken to them about coming out today 4/9, but after calling them they said otherwise and now will be coming at a later date. In conclusion, this is a rather expensive job to accept this. read more
