I am giving detail, because billing confrontations seem to be a common theme on the negative…read morereviews. Billing staff is confrontational and rude. I questioned an estimate that didn't align with my insurance benefits and they kept explaining to me why they were correct rather than having a conversation. After I requested it, they reluctantly agreed to a preauth. They were about $60 off and I was about $2 off from what the preauth came back as. They never contacted me with the information had to get it from Aetna. This didn't surprise me, as they made a whole production and were wrong. I sent a letter to the dentist asking if he wanted me to come back or not, because I did not want trouble at the office. What I received back was a noncommittal letter back that billing is hard and some other nonsense that didn't address the question. At this point I had no intention of going back. On august 8, I received the letter I had expected, terminating the relationship. They are required by law to send this, so it was totally fine. I actually already went to a different dentist. However it is worth sharing that the letter said, there were a couple of instances where I complained about my coverage and have complained about their fee. To be clear, I had only been once before, for a cleaning, which was mostly covered, outside of a few dollars. Also, I didn't think their fees were unreasonable, they were pretty normal for an out of network dentist. Finally, I don't know why on earth I would "complain about my coverage" to a provider? The provider has nothing to do with that. This simply didn't happen. Bottom line, they are angry about a negative review without wanting to take ownership of how and why it happened. The main thing for me, (and this is more for the business, because I know they read these,) is my review are the facts of my experience. If I am being untruthful, you have recourse, but I'm not, and we both know that. It is disappointing to have you try and pass accountability. I do have a couple of suggestions. If you are concerned with the quality of the reviews you receive, use them as an opportunity to improve. Alternatively, if it bothers you that much to have a customer describe their experience, turn off reviews. I would have been happy to remove it if someone would have called to have a discussion, but that isn't how you chose to handle it. Hope this review helps anyone who reads.

You can always tell when people actually do. Now, the rest of my experience, absolutely terrible. Enough to make me say "f this" if I didn't care about my teeth. Dr. Bourgeois did not make me feel cared about or taken care of AT ALL. She just immediately brought up the most expensive option and that's about it. Didn't ask about my other issues, nothing. Drove 45 minutes for something that took not even 10. Meanwhile, my mum's appointment was thorough, and with plenty of options. So, don't know what the deal was there but I felt it and it made an impact. My mum and I scheduled our appointments for the same day but had to come back the following day for hers due to a system outage at this location. I wasn't even in the chair for 10 minutes and my options were "here's a $5k bridge or another option that's extreme." I just went to another dentist not even two weeks ago that recommended a root canal, not a whole procedure that's the down payment of a damn car. I understand it's just the greed and cruelty of the American healthcare system but that doesn't make it any better and it doesn't excuse how I was made to feel during my appointment. People hate the dentist for very valid reasons and these practices know that but ultimately, no matter how outwardly friendly, their goal is to get as much money out of you as possible. The payment plans are not payment plans that are made to work for you, it's just how they wanna break them up. So, after my experience here I've accepted that pretty much all dentists are the same and I will always hate going. It doesn't matter how much they pretend to care. Exhausting and I don't even have to get much done. Just tired of the dog and pony show you have to go through to just take care of basic bones. Due to the way I felt here, like it wasn't worth giving me any real options and because of Dr. B's indifferent attitude (you never really know if it's race related or not sometimes), I'll continue to shop around until I find a dentist office who at least has dentists who truly care to listen and understand not just push the most expensive options possible and basically say "f off."

Instead, I'm sitting here, still bleeding, waiting for my husband to bring some home) I will never return to this office and hope Dr. Denney in DeSoto County has open spots. I will likely need decent follow up care. I don't usually leave negative reviews, but I felt it was important to share my experience so others can be aware. To be honest, two stars feels a little generous. I just had a tooth extraction at this office, and the overall care felt rushed and careless. They had me fill out all this paperwork online, and somehow none of my info made it into my file? The dentist performed the procedure without placing a bib or any protective covering, which is something I've never experienced at any medical or dental appointment before. After the extraction and stitches, I was left to clean up the blood on my face and neck. If I had not had a bottle of water with me, I wouldn't have been able to do even that. The sink didn't work. While they did avoid getting any on my clothing, it was unsettling to leave visibly messy without any effort to clean me up. I was prescribed pain medication and antibiotics, but the post-op instructions were minimal--I was only told not to use a straw and to chew on the other side for a while. No written instructions were provided, and there was no clear explanation of what to expect during recovery or when to call if something seemed wrong. While nothing about the procedure felt unsafe, the overall experience felt haphazard and lacking in basic patient care and professionalism. I hope this office takes steps to improve how they communicate with and care for their patients.

(My Dad is 93 years old) They gave him an appointment, with a cost of $79.00 as a new patient. (I assumed that was a discount for the cleaning). When I took him, they took x-rays and when that was done, they call my sister and myself back to show us what they saw. He had plaque buildup, and needed to use a special mouthwash for a short period of time, which I understood. But they informed us that it would take two visits to clean his teeth. supposedly, his plaque was that bad. I thought ok, it had been 3.5 years since his last cleaning. (That visit was with a different dentist, whom he had seen for years.) When they gave me the appointment date and times, they also gave me the price for the two cleanings. $1,288.00 was the cost! YES, YOU READ THAT RIGHT!! $1,288.00. I would have to be crazy to pay that much for cleaning! I called his old dentist, they saw him the next morning, took x-ray and cleaned ALL HIS TEETH IN THAT ONE VISIT! COST: $215.00! If you are wise, avoid going to American Family Dentist in Collierville, Tennessee. I do not know what other American Family Clinics charge. but check before going!

My dentist Andy although from Mississippi is both a New England Patriots fan and a HUGE Red Sox fan who attends games at Fenway!! I say that makes him one of the truly good ones, and my wife has been his patient for some time now and she's a big fan and her dental health has never been better.
