Went in for annual inspection. They claimed my front brake pads and rotors needed to be replaced, stating at first the rotors were "delaminating", then that there was 1/4" of rust round the edges. They even took me back to the shop to supposedly show me what they were seeing. I've been maintaining my own vehicles for 20 years. Rotors always have some surface rust. There was nothing unusual or worn out. When I asked for them to point me to the specific inspection criteria that was failing, they could not. Then they changed the story that the rotors were "pitted". Nothing they claimed was wrong with my breaks is an actual inspection failure. See PA PUB 45 for actual requirements. Rotors fail when they have .015" deep groove. Mine were no where near that, and they didn't even measure. This was clearly just a money grab to turn a $30 inspection into a $450 brake job. read more

I mean they mounted the tires and that good but they used inside the wheel clamps which are only for steel wheels on my new rather expensive forged aluminum wheels which you use outside clamps on. This is common tire technician knowledge. I mean super basic type stuff. You literally learn this the first week on the job because I was the one who use to teach people this when I worked for coach ( the tire machine company they use ). Did it destroy my wheels? No but they all have huge teeth marks in four places on each of them. It's not the end of the world but be better especially considering you guys charge the most out of anywhere in the area of the poconos. I paid $210 to have four wheels off the car mounted to new tires that where off the car too. That's bonkers! Everywhere else it's $25 a wheel. read more

If I could give negative stars, I would. I had my tires replaced 12/31, and in 1/4 they flew off of my truck. If it wasn't for the RV I had on my truck to stabilize the uncontrollable swerving, I would've been killed. Mavis is Currently going through a class action lawsuit. They replaced the brakes on an limo, and the brakes ended up failing and that event ended up with 20 people dead. They tried to get the case dismissed and thankfully it was denied. I added a link down below for anyone that wants to verify the lawsuit. The attempted dismissal is not even a year old. I would stay far away from this company. Attempted to get in touch with the district manager dozens of times and he says that he will call me in a few minutes or that afternoon and never does via the secretary. READ UPDATE AT THE BOTTOM****** We had no choice but to have our car towed there a few months ago. It had died in a parking lot and we were stranded, could not get it started. Roadside assistance showed up and said it seemed to be the alternator. We had the car towed to mavis and had them put in a "new" alternator. We had some other things done to the car as well totalling 1800 dollars. A few days later we got the car back and within a couple of days started having problems again. The car was sitting for a while because we could not have the car towed again. mavis said the new alternator was under warrantee and they would fix it but we had to pay a ridiculous amount of money in labor for a problem they had supposedly fixed. We ended up getting a mechanic to come to our home to look at the car, he said that the alternator was the problem. When he got the parts in, he came over to fix the car; come to find out mavis never even changed the alternator as the one we watched the mechanic pull out of the car was extremely rusted and corroded, the mechanic was pretty certain it was the original alternator that was still in the car. I will never go there and never trust them again 2000 dollars later...do yourself a favor and just dont..stay away from them! UPDATE!!! The one who commented having me call them was a complete waste of time. The regional managers lack of professionalism shows why mavis feels ok to screw people the way they do. NOT ONLY did they NOT replace the alternator they charged us for, but they charged us for a battery as well they never replaced.. The regional manager doug is a disgrace, basically told me that we have no proof to back our claims..ok. We shall see, didnt realize this part wasnt in the review but they also called my father (who paid for everything over the phone since he lives in fl..probably why they had no fear of taking advantage..that the car had no overflow tank)..instead of having them do it he bought one in florida and drove it 1600 miles up here, took it to another mechanic to find out that not only did the car already have an overflow, but there was nothing wrong with it..so I now have an appointment to have the mechanic( that ACTUALLY DID the work that MAVIS charged us for and DIDNT DO) look at the invoice and look at everything else in the car that was supposedly done to see whether or not we got screwed with that too..this could have went completely differently but the lack of respect and sensitivity to this issue shown by their regional manager not only to me this afternoon but to my father is DISGUSTING!! However, after I took a better look I just needed to get brand new front tires and they were able to put on the new tires immediately. I had to get my car towed one night and unfortunately this was the closest shop. Insurance handled a lot of claim here, but when my car was "done" I went to pick it up and the replacement hubcaps I ordered were not on the car, my battery was dead, and the plastic they put in the car to keep it clean was everywhere. They told me to take my car and they would call me when my hubcaps were in. ONE WHOLE MONTH LATER I haven't heard anything from them and when I inquired about my hubcaps they hadn't even ordered them yet! Unacceptable. They blamed it on someone being let go who was handling my claim. I dropped my car off to them around March 20th. It's now May 8th and I still have no hubcaps on my car. read more

Worst customer service ever!!!! It seemed like the guy picked and choice who he wanted to be nice with. He was super rude to me, unprofessional, and not helpful. If anything he seemed like he was encouraging me to reconsider if I should service my car here. I only came in for an inspection which I called in to schedule an appointment and was waiting for over 3 hours. When I would question how much longer I would get a irritated look and was told that my car was next but not sure how long cause they only had one person working on inspections. Then my car was taken in and still waited another 2 hours. I was there for a total of 5 hours without any sympathy of being patient and only to get an inspection. Don't I wish I could give it 0 stars. Not sure what is going on at this location; and not sure anyone cares (except maybe the customer service rep, that has gotten me in touch with district manager, John). We had our car here, estimate, insurance, and when we picked it up.. the previous manager (we dealt with) mysterious gone and no one knew anything about our car. We picked it up (thought it was done).. low and behold, 2 wheel covers NOT done but clearly paid for and on invoice. We took the car; told they were going to order... fast forward MONTHS; heard nothing.. took a major tantrum to get in touch with someone. They wanted us to purchase the wheel covers and then they "reimburse" (LOL).. I insisted they ordered. John (district manager) did facilitate that HOWEVER, the wheel covers didn't fit for tires and rims THEY installed. The shop wanted to ZIP TIE (yes, ZIP time) the one that wouldn't fit. I gave them one star because 0 stars was not an option. I took my SUV there because there was a slight smell of burning coming from my rear tire and was told by my daughters ever so knowledgeable boyfriend that it is the caliper freezing up. I priced the caliper at 3 different auto stores and none of them were more than $70.00 so I figured around $100 in labor and that would be it. I took it to STS and after a complete brake check they told me that in fact that what it was and only that, every thing else was 100%. Whew, finally a break(no pun intended) or so I thought, NOPE, quoted me $307.00?? WHAT?? They said the part is $130.00 plus the charge for "bleeding the system" and labor. They can go scratch. I called Ray Price Honda and they only wanted $100.00 (I had the part, $70.00) but couldn't wait till Monday. Had the job done by Owen's Mobile Service (570)730-9961 found on Craigs List, he was at my house within 1/2 an hour and the job took 20 min. DONE AND DONE RIGHT!! Thank you Owens.
