Apparently SAS is a family-owned American shoe manufacturer based in Texas that "specializes in handcrafted men's and women's shoes, focusing on comfort." OK. Sounds good. The store is company owned and sells only SAS. It's a clean, quiet, attractive and well-organized shop. The service was very friendly, and the shoes I looked at seemed very well constructed, with traditional styling. The prices on the shoes I looked at were a bit higher, IMO, for a brand that isn't in the public eye: about $175 for an athletic shoe. But then, most athletic shoes are made in China. I discovered the brand is available everywhere online, including Amazon & Zappos, so I'm going to do some price research. I would like to buy from a brick-and-mortar, but initial impressions are these may be a bit pricey and perhaps uncompetitive. I guess we'll see...

I came here because none of the other local sporting goods stores carried Thermacells. I'll give them 2-stars because they had the product in stock and after asking three employees, the last one finally knew what I was talking about. Price of Thermacell at Dicks was a few percent over MSRP just like most of their inventory. I'm guessing their overhead is fairly high as any of their locations charge above and beyond MSRP. Even their "sales" aren't really sales. Like I said, I only came here because I needed a Thermacell. The girl running the cash registered was terribly inconvenienced that I had to purchase an item and interrupt whatever-the-hell-it-was-she-was-pretending-to-do. No idea why anyone would shop here.
