Oooooh dat chicken that I had for lunch today was pretty good. I was out searching for another food…read moretruck, and then this place caught my attention. I was still a little hesitant until this nice woman came along and vouched for the food. I had no idea about what to order, but as soon as I saw her food come out I was sold. I told the guys to give me exactly what she had, which included a quarter chicken, corn, and potatoes. I got back up to my office and enjoyed all of it. The chicken was well done and well seasoned, the corn was tasty, and the potatoes were better than what I was expecting. Can't really explain it but they were like roasted and mashed at the same time.. whatever it was it was great! Oh and that sweet orange sauce that they gave me took the chicken to another level. Insert fire emojis Lastly, the guys working the truck were some of the coolest food truck people that I've ever interacted with. Combine that with good food and you can def count on my coming back again.

Well...I meant to take a picture of my lunch. Really, I did. But...it was gone too fast…read more.. Today was my second time at Ooh Dat. Both times I've ordered the same thing - a quarter dark meat with one side. It comes with basmati rice (which you can sub out for a different side) and a choice of a salad, coleslaw, and corn. I've chosen the coleslaw both times - I find it so unique, with its cabbage and basil-like dressing. Definitely NOT your usual slaw. I will try the corn one of these days, though. On to the chicken - They give you a good amount of chicken and it is very, very juicy. I can't comment about the skin (I don't eat the skin, I take it off...I know to some of you that's a sin!) but my co-workers have previously commented that it is nicely seasoned. They also provide you with a mild barbeque sauce, and today they gave me a new sauce, which was curry-based. It's slightly thicker than the barbeque sauce, which while it has good flavor, is a bit thinner (it complements, not overpowers, the chicken). I alternated between both sauces today. I have to also complement the owner/manager - I had exactly $8 in cash (keep forgetting about the taxes for food trucks!) so he let me go without paying the $.80, that was really nice of him. I'll be sure to give it back to him next time! Overall, a solid, filling meal, and I would return!

There are lots of hand-made craft and unique gift items (ramen stall, truffle stall, cat & dog stalls, as well as plenty of jewelry, chocolate, candle, toys, ornament, and crafts stalls). I bought a Ramen bowl from Japan for hubby, Truffle butter @ Truffist, and dark chocolate Oreos (the dark chocolate pretzels aren't that good) @Capital City Jar, kudos for being a long-time vendor! I also got an overpriced $40 onesie @SOL, the material was very soft and made in the U.S. In terms of the hot chocolate stalls, the Truffle stall and the S'mores N More are my favorite. The Marshmallows are gigantic and should have mixed them in! I got a pack of 6 marshmallows and picked out the flavors - Rainbow, Cookies and Cream, and Toffee Marshmallows. The Racklette sandwich was delicious - you must try it! It was so fascinating to watch the melty swiss cheese get scooped off the big truckle cheese wheel and sandwiches into a soft baguette roll. The Churros with Dulce Leche filling are a must - I always get the every year! Kudos for being a long-time vendor! The Dirty Habit Chalet boozy is a bit gimmicky. I paid $17 for Whiskey and Cider, I wish it was served warm and the service was lukewarm. The air-fried Gnocchi from Carmine's was a complete miss and a total disappointment. The Gnocchi lacked the crispy edges and pillowy soft juicy center. The texture was completely off from the air fryer. Excited to go back next year for some more gifts and delicious goodies and sweet treats!

And each year I always end up bypassing it because after a long day at work, the last thing I want to do is be jammed in with a bunch of other people going from booth to booth. I finally took the time to visit here and probably picked one of the worst times to visit, during a hockey game. With the influx of people coming into the area for the game and the arena right there, it made navigating to and through a nightmare. The downside here, and it is probably the only downside, are the amounts of other people. They will do one of two things. One, forget about their awareness to where they are. By this I mean that they will forget they are not the only person here at the holiday market. Two, the other people will either push you along, or walk at a glacial pace. Jamming up crosswalks and entrances to the main area. Two things you cannot control and you just have to go with the flow here. I will say it is lively and welcoming. Once you do make it into the stall area you will have to take your time to sift through what there is to offer. From gifts to food, you can find it all here. Live music is a usual draw as well which lends to the magical feel that you are in the middle of a DC street and don't have to worry about a thing. All of the vendors are local, so this is a big shop small venue. Offering you everything you can think of as a gift for a special somebody. Definitely worth a look around the holiday season.

If you want the TL;DR: Stop reading and order food…read more Thanks again fellow yelpers. As I was frigidly walking down the street, looking at food truck after food truck. I remembered the misfortune of not checking here before I ordered. This time, I checked a handful and then came across the reviews for Royal Chicken & Gyro. 2018 is looking up! The yellow truck is one of the most nondescript food trucks I've seen in a while, and one of the best experiences I've had. As I walked up, a nice woman greeted me. She was very nice, as was the other woman in the truck. I then asked the first woman what the combo over rice was. She explained that it was chicken and gyro meat over rice. She then went on to explain that gyro was beef and lamb mixed together. Being a meat lover, I decided that is what I would have, but let me back up for a moment. I have a problem. I generally order the most expensive thing on the menu (food-wise and proportional for 1-2 people). I love seafood, weird food, and more importantly, really good food. Back to the review at hand...So, I order the most expensive thing on the menu: Chicken and Gyro over rice. It was $10. It comes with chick peas (if you want) and a salad in a recyclable clamshell divided container. I asked for no napkins/plasticware seeing as I have those in my office. Let me say that all of the food (save the salad) was cooked very well. It was all very flavorful. The tzatziki sauce is wonderful as was the hot sauce. The meats were bigger than bite size, but not too big, and tender. Really everything about this meal was great including the chick peas and even the salad dressing. I'm even not one for salad dressing usually. The rice was also a good complement to the great flavors of the meat. I would recommend going to this food truck if you see it. You will not be disappointed. I will definitely return here if I see that yellow Royal Chicken & Gyro truck again. A random interesting note, roughly half of the food pictures have keyboards in the background.

Great service and very reasonable menu; not too many options like other food trucks. Very friendly…read moreand kind. Food was delicious!

Not only was there diversity within the items listed above but it brought out a diverse crowd--I'm sure every identity was present at the festival making for good vibes. Food wise, there was a range of vendors that included food from across the Black diaspora (Jamaican, Haitian, Southern soul food), American cuisine, Bar food from H Street bars & restaurants, sushi & other Asian cuisine , among other fun food trucks. The music I experienced spread across multiple genres (African, r&b, reggae, hip hop, country, and pop) and was put forth by live musicians, DJs, and drag queens. Since I ALWAYS check to see what my fellow Yelpers recommend, I already knew what I wanted and that was 1 of each of their veggie/vegan, Classic, and BBQ chicken meatballs with sides of roasted cauliflower and mac and cheese. Out of the three meatballs, my absolute favs were the veggie/vegan and the bbq chicken. The vegan/veggie meatball was indeed a little soft texture wise; however, the taste blew my mind. The seasonings and veggies throughout made me do a double take. The BBQ chicken was again seasoned really well and the sweet BBQ sauce was a nice touch! Onto the sides -- the roasted cauliflower was the bomb.com! I never thought of myself as a cauliflower lover, but after trying this I def would get it again! Again, the cauliflower was very well seasond and roasted just right - not too crunchy and not mushy, mushy, but kinda soft how I prefer my veggies. The mac and cheese was ok, nothing stood out to me about it. In my opinion, it could've used some pepper (I didn't have any at my desk smh); however, the cheese was plentiful and gooey! I did love the thick noodles that were used vs traditional elbow noodles. All in all, I def will be on the look out for Ball or Nothing in my area and will most def will get the veggie/vegan and BBQ chicken meatballs with cauliflower. Seeing that they have other sides, I cannot wait to try those as well.

I came across this meatball truck and there were so many things on the menu I wanted to try that I got distracted and didn't even look at the price. I wound up choosing one of each type of meatball (classic, veggie, Buffalo chicken), roasted cauliflower, and mac and cheese. The total came to around $13, which sounded a bit pricey but the portions are huge and well worth it. I liked the classic meatball best followed by the Buffalo chicken; was not that into the veggie one. It was a bit mushy and tasted like a kale burger. Sides were solid and matched well with the meatballs. The box is compostable which is a great plus! Will definitely look for it again.
