When reviewing this dealership website, their mission and vision couldn't be further from the truth. An employee of the company reached out to us as they were interested in purchasing our vehicle. Well, they made an offer which was agreed to, only to then need to go to the GM who reduced that figure by $1,000. Obviously, a typical car dealership deceitful tactic. Well, it was disturbing enough that I sent an email to the GM, who is also the owner. Guess what, he didn't even respond. Great service and very nice people! My Subaru Forester's transmission blew and I went to Matthews to buy a 2012 Subaru Outback with 16,000 miles that I had found on an internet search. It was $3,000 below the Blue Book value and had a clean carfax. The car was very clean and as exactly as advertised on their website. Our salesman, Vince, was non-pushy, professional and easy to talk to. While we were there, my mom test drove a 2013 Outback which was also around $3,000 below the blue book value and she ended up trading in her old Outback and buying that one. She got a great deal on her turn-in. The financing was easy and we both drove off with new (isn) Subarus. Both my mom and I were very happy with their customer service. bought my car in october, wouldn't pass this years inspection one reason I knew about the tint but it needed all new tires. needed front breaks, also needed rear breaks just a few months after.. the cars stalled out on me I had it towed found out a sensor went bad. The battery needed to be changed it was so bad it had my car lights in the dash doing weird things.. I had it checked they said that battery's been on its last limb for a long time. long story short bought the car for 23,000$ 25,000$ after taxes (trade in now is 14-17,000) and I thought it was a little high they showed me where they got the numbers ok no problem however.. they put I lived in pa then fixed it on the computers when I called about my title not coming in then I re call and they said their computer shows NY so now it's my problem to get ahold of the DMV and for only having this car for 8 month... I've had to put 2,500$ into it. just make sure to double check tires and possibly have someone else look at the functions and battery because they didn't seem to care when I called about the tires or anything else.. I love my car it was a fast easy purchase.. but this is the worst experience I've ever had owning a used car for less than a year. read more

Honestly if I could rate zero stars I would. Coming from someone previously in the car business, this was the most unprofessional "car dealership" I've ever stepped foot in. As soon as I got there I test drive the car I wanted to buy, thought oh wow that was fast. Get back, and my salesman sat me down in a corner and left me there for almost 3 hours, I talked to him maybe a total of 5 minutes!! Meanwhile he was handling other customers who came in after me. I was already approved for my loan 3 days prior so why would they have me sit there for that long when all I had to do was sign some papers?? Then the finance lady came out and was surprised with my attitude that I had, as if I didn't just sit there for 3 hours with my 6 month old. Come on lady! I understand things get busy but they didn't sell a single car from the time I got there until the time I left so there was no reason I should've been there any longer than an hour. A complete joke! I had such a great experience buying my first car from Matthews! They were extremely helpful and professional throughout the entire process, from helping me find a car that suited my needs to helping with financing and completing the final paperwork. I find the staff at Matthews to be incredibly trustworthy. They gave me a great price for my car and even made additional repairs prior to my purchasing the vehicle because they noticed that the previous owner had the car repaired incorrectly. Prior to purchasing my car, Matthews also did repairs on my father's car and oil changes and they have always done an excellent job and given me a very fair price. I find their staff to be incredibly friendly and I hope to buy all of my future cars here. I don't think anyone could ask for a better experience buying a used car. read more

My son who is 20 spoke to this company back and fourth about purchasing a truck. We saw the pictures online and the truck looked very nice! The woman that was helping him assured him the truck was "Clean" not dents no scratches...nothing! Well after a 3 hr drive, not only was the truck filthy it had scratches EVERYWHERE!!! When he saw this obviously he was extremely upset. When he asked the lady she said "I apologize, I must not have seen the scratches" Are you kidding me!!!!! They were as clear as day! He was very respectful and told her he was not willing to pay the $29,300 but was willing to negotiate. She abruptly cut him off and said there is No negotiating! Correct me if I'm wrong...isn't that what a business should do especially since first of all they not only lied about the Trucks condition but were very rude when speaking to us? I am not one to give negative feedback more of the positive kind but this struck a nerve for me! They were trying to take advantage of a young man but to their surprise...He was smart and walked away. They will NEVER get our business that's for sure! 3000 miles and the brakes from the vehicle we purchased are along the roadside somewhere. Contacted customer service and was told when they inspected the vehicle the brakes barely passed but they put a sticker on it anyway. Looks like a lick it and stick it inspection was good enough for them to put it on the lot. If your going to put your families lives on the line in one of their vehicles have an independent 3rd party inspection garage check it over before you buy. They wouldn't even offer to do the labor if I bought the parts. Remember that takeoffs are optional but landings are mandatory when purchasing a vehicle from this company!!! read more

Each year I go to Matthew's for inspection, they fail me and somehow charge me for $800 worth of stuff. This year to no surprise, my car failed inspection again. I went in and they explained that my car had many different things that needed to be fixed. However, my car runs great. So, I went somewhere else to have a second look before spending loads of money fixing anything else. The second place I went to passed my car no problem. He said the tire rods were just fine, and the body work was just fine. The service manager at Matthew's had said there was a big hole in the body work underneath, but when I went to another garage they could not find one. This switch saved me a good $800-$1000. Matthew's is building a reputation of dishonesty while ripping people off when it comes to car inspections. Tricking people into paying to 'fix' things they don't need or have a problem with. Matthew's is a thieving dishonest company desperately ripping people off. I highly recommend you do not go there for anything. read more

I had the absolute WORST experience of my life with Matthew's Motors. It started out great, but went downhill so fast. I brought my car to get an inspection done, but failed. I needed tie rods, rear brake pads and rotors, and one tire to pass inspection. I was given an estimate of $325 for all of this work. I told them I didn't have the money at the time, but would be back soon to get it done. They had absolutely no problem letting me do it another time and were super nice about it. But, when I brought it back, things went south. They called me a few days later and told me my car was done. I asked how much the bill was and was told it was $510. I was shocked that it was $200 over the estimate, but said okay and hung up. I would expect them to tell me when they called that it was higher than expected rather than me have to ask for my bill, especially since they already knew I was short on cash. Because I am a young college student, I had no clue what to do. My parent called to see why it was so much higher and was told that they "accidentally" overcharged me, which sounds like an excuse used when they're called out on their BS. They conveniently got my bill down to $373, just over my estimate. The next day, I go to pick it up, and my alignment was AWFUL. I had my steering wheel turned 45 degrees to the right and was STILL pulling into the left lane. I turned right around and told them they needed to fix it, free of charge. They did, and even offered to drop my car off at my college when it was done. 4 days later, I called to see how my car was doing. They told me it had been done for a day and they could bring it out right away. I go to meet them outside when they called me, and THEY BROUGHT ME THE WRONG CAR. I told them they had the wrong car and that they needed to go get mine. I FINALLY got my car back today, almost 2 weeks later, and everything is finally up to date. HOPEFULLY.
