Matthew photographed two huge events for our family and he did a truly spectacular job. He came early and got every moment of our events. He is an artist. I love the way he got pictures of everyone being normal and he managed to get our little quirky moments that became our favorite pictures. He is so polite and gracious. Most of the time we didn't even realize he was capturing us being ourselves. When I look at the pictures, I start crying because they are such momentous events that I couldn't really focus at the time. We love Matthew so much, I wouldn't hesitate to have him as a guest who happens to be the most artistic photographer we could ever find. Matthew, thank you for capturing us being ourselves and somehow capturing all our love and affection. You are amazing and I will treasure these pictures forever. If anyone even mentions a beautiful professional photographer, your name immediately comes up. You are wonderful!!! We could not have asked for more. Sending you my warmest regards! read more

Matt has been taking my family's pictures since my husband and I were engaged ten years ago. Since then he has captured my family in every stage and he is the only photographer that we will use. He is fast to respond and get your pictures back to you. He is also just a pretty nice guy to be around. read more

I wish I could put into words the wonderfulness of Mathews photos. I will be back to review again when they come out with a new uber delicious word that appropriately describes my pleasure at Matt's talent. Until then, I'll continue to enjoy the fabulously playful portraits of me and my teenagers before they crossed the icy line from teenager to TEENAGER! I shall always have those lovely portraits, so that I may remember those days. Mathew made us all feel so comfortable. I let him be creative and he let me have a few silly poses which I am sure were completely against his artistic nature... Keep up the great work MJP! read more

I recently hired Matthew James Photographers to shoot my holiday card photos with my husband and my 2 dogs. It was the first time we had done professional photos since our wedding 3 years ago, so we were admittedly rusty. Plus add 2 dogs in the mix! But Matthew was extremely professional, made us feel comfortable, and got some amazing pictures that I know we will cherish. I particularly love his laid-back style and candid shots. He was very affordable, and the pictures came in lovely personalized packaging. The turnaround time was about a month (it was their busy season), and initially we were sent different pictures than the ones we selected, but Matt was prompt in sending the right ones the next day. All in all, a great experience. Would highly recommend for any special occasions or portraiture. read more

Matt and Dannie are an incredible team! We worked with them for both our engagement pictures and our wedding. We are so incredibly happy with all of the pictures we have received from both events! Matt and Dannie did an amazing job of capturing the natural moments between my husband and I and our friends and family. When we started thinking about the feel of our photos, my husband and I agreed, we really wanted them to have a natural, not too posed or over-exposed feel. When we found Matt & Dannie, we knew we had struck gold! We are so incredibly happy with our decision to work with Matt and Dannie. Our pictures are stunning and I cannot wait to share them! read more

MJP photographed mine and my wife wedding over the summer, as well as some engagement photos. We looked and spoke to countless number of photographers in the area..near and far. We found something about the both of them that made us chose them right away, and we could not have made a better decision. They are the nicest, friendliest, while professional photographers and people I have ever been around. They are so detail oriented and made us feel very comfortable when it comes to taking photos. They made us laugh so much and really helped the structure of our wedding. All the photos are absolutely amazing and we are so fortunate to have chosen them to shoot our big day!! We owe a lot fo thanks and gratitude to both Matt and Dannie. You two were the best and we appreciate everything you did for the both of us...above and beyond!! Thanks again you two, and cheers!!!! -The Morrison's read more

These guys are the best photographers EVER!! I say it every time I see any picture that Matt has taken for us. He captured every moment of our wedding and each picture takes us right back to it. Truly everlasting pictures. He is super easy to work with and always has that eye for the best shot. Such an awesome guy and awesome company to work with. I have continued to use him for family pictures and look forward to him capturing more special moments for us. read more

A friend recommended Matt to my fiancé and me and I'm INCREDIBLY thankful she did! When I first contacted Matt requesting details on his engagement+wedding package, he was quick to respond, easy to communicate with, and very detailed and helpful in his responses. His responses alone really showed his attentiveness and desire to make your photographer-hunt as easy as possible. After contacting a variety of photographers in the Bay Area, we decided to go with Matt because of his very affordable and reasonable package pricing. If anything, you're getting a GREAT DEAL for Matt's caliber! Matt recommended a few places for our engagement shoot and was very patient with our indecisiveness in where to shoot. In the end, he was very flexible and was willing to drive super far to shoot where we wanted to have it done! He even went the extra mile and scouted out the area prior to our appointed time to meet. During our shoot, he was very easy-going, very discerning in when to instruct us to pose or let us do our own thing, and in the end was the pro he promised to be. He has a good eye for where to shoot so pictures will turn out well and we couldn't be happier being with Matt throughout our time together! Another great thing about Matt is that he never made us feel uncomfortable and was very accommodating to all the special requests we had made. We briefly mentioned to him in an email exchange that we love epic pictures, and epic he very much delivered! We love the variety of pictures he produced at the end. We really appreciated the different types of shots which captured different angles of our personalities, as well as different angles landscape and scenery-wise. We received our pictures just a few weeks after our shoot and couldn't be happier with the timing. We're excited for our wedding day and the great pictures we know Matt will help deliver to us! read more

Best photographer I know! His portfolio includes so many different locations, types of venues, and lighting situations, showcasing his ability to put together the best set of photographs to remember your special day! But that doesn't tell the whole story...he is communicative, creative, and always keeps his clients best interest at the heart of his work! And he has many suggestions for engagement session locations! Check him out today! read more

Mjp took the perfect wedding photographs for us. My husband and I don't like being the center of attention and they were able to capture gorgeous candid raw shots. They made you feel like you have known them forever and Matthew has stayed a friend to this day. Highly recommend read more

I've become quite the photography snob after going to them, because i just cant find anyone better than them. The standard has been set so high. They pay attention to detail, listen to suggestions, and are just all around amazing. They have an eye to make an awesome photo and always succeed to take unique pictures. They are not going to give you "standard" pictures, which is what i love. If i wanted that i would just go to picture people or sears. I love them as people and as professionals and i will never go to anyone else. read more

Matt and Dannie photographed both our engagement session and our wedding. They were amazing right from the beginning. As soon as we met them we knew they were down to earth, and that we could be natural and comfortable in their presence. They were always flexible and easy to get a hold of, and really listened to what we wanted. The photographs are stunning (confirmed by friends, family, coworkers, and strangers!). They really captured the natural beauty of the venue where we got married, and the personality of all those involved in the wedding. Best of all, I didn't even really notice they were there and yet they captured all the best moments. Finally, Dannie came to the rescue and fixed my wedding dress when the bustle broke. Life saver! read more

MJP did my maternity family portraits and my son's 6 month portraits. I'm in LOVE with the photographs. I have since had a few of them canvassed. This couple has the skills, creativity, style and vision to create and capture beautiful moments. read more

Matt did an amazing job with our wedding photos! He is super friendly and worked with us to make sure everything went smoothly on the day of the wedding. We had some miscommunication, so he took the time to personally video chat with us to smooth out all the details. His willingness and patience made all the difference. In the end, he gave us a great deal and we are so happy with how all the photos turned out! Would highly recommend him if you are looking for a good wedding photographer! read more

This review is long delayed but I cannot go on another day and not say how awesome Matthew is! I hired Matthew to cover my in laws' 50th Wedding Anniversary vow renewal and the pictures were just super amazing. Not only that but the final product of the CD he sent us was really pretty as well! Matthew was a joy to work with and he was patient with all of our family! Great Job Matthew! read more

As soon as my husband and I got engaged, I booked Matt to do our engagement and wedding photos. He's done a bunch of mutual friends weddings and I was always blown away with how good the photos came out. Photo sessions can be super awkward, especially when you have to kiss, and stare into each other's eyes, while a man with a camera is capturing your every move. Matt made the whole session super fun, cracked jokes, and made us both very comfortable. Our favorite photos are the ones where he caught us laughing at his jokes, because it's really pure happiness on our faces. I couldn't be more happy with our engagement and wedding photos, they are beautiful! Excited to expand our family, and continue using Matt for all our family photos. True professional, and an awesome guy! Thanks Matt! read more

Matthew James has taken our family photographs for the past 7 years. He's photographed me and my husband and our dogs, my two pregnancies and the newborns, our kids first birthdays and our yearly family photos including our extended family. I only wish he did my wedding, actually if I ever renew my vows he'll be the one to do it, I might actually do it just so he can photograph it. No matter what the occasion is MJP is there to capture it in stunning pictures, he gets the shot every time. read more

When my husband and I were planning our wedding we knew we wanted to hire a phenomenal photographer for our special day. With Matthew James Photographer (MJP) we got that and so much more. Matt and Dannie's work is absolutely amazing! Matt and Dannie were with my husband and I the entire day; they even joined us at the after party. As far as I am concerned Matt and Dannie went above and beyond what your average run of the mill wedding photographer would have done. Since the wedding I alone have done two additional photo shoots with Matt and Dannie. If my husband and I were to plan our wedding over again we would pick MJP in a heartbeat. Bottom line, their work is amazing. You will not be disappointed. read more

We love this young woman, an amazing talent worth getting to know..

MJP is awesome!! They have a unique style and eye for a great "photo". They can capture moments that no one sees our could imagine seeing. When I look at not only the session they did of our 8 month old (at the time), but sessions of others... their keen eye and creativity is not comparable! I wish they could follow our family around and just capture our life through their lens! Amazing!! If only I knew them when we got married!! Our 10 year anniversary we will have to do it again just so they can take our photos! Look forward to a long professional and personal relationship with MJP!! read more

Let's just say I will never go anywhere else! To say they're amazing is an understatement. Not to mention that Matt & Dannie's baby, Scarlett, is a little chunk of cuteness :) They have never disappointed me & every time they take our pictures they are coming up with new ways to capture my babies & take beautiful portraits of them! EVERYONE that comes across our family portraits wants to know who did them! Not only are they awesome photographers, but awesome people as well :) read more

Matt and Dannie were absolutely amazing to work with! We hired them for our wedding and decided to do an engagement session which was a great trial run. They were so easy and comfortable to work with and they let us be ourselves with just enough guidance to get some great photos. We were able to use some photos from our engagement session for our save the dates and wedding website and loved all the moments they captured at our wedding. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a more naturally beautiful photo session. read more

I was slightly disappointed with the photos we received from Matthew James Photographer. We asked for many candid photos to be taken of the reception, and he delivered on this very well, his photos of our young family members are adorable. Day of I felt like he didn't listen to or get a feel for us very well, we were obviously and verbally uncomfortable with some of the poses he asked us to do, and ended up with only 2 photos where we are even looking at the camera. His partner Dannie is really nice. There are very few 'standard' wedding photos of family members and the bridal party, which initially was fine with me, but the ones that we have are not very impressive, and frankly the standard photos are the ones you hang on to anyway! Post wedding I notified him of our new address to send the photo disc to, he sent it to the wrong one anyway, with the same misspelling of our name that occurred on the proofs- of which I had informed him of. read more
