Dr. Jacobs nailed it though. Within a day of wearing my new lenses, my eyes had completely adjusted. My eyes are more relaxed, and it's easier for me to focus thanks to the new prescription. Dr. Jacobs also has a great support staff. Mattie in the front desk is wonderful. I will be back next year for my annual eye exam.

(Surgery date…read more- May 2021) The knowledge and experience Dr. Mazaheri exhibits is expansive and reassuring, especially to people like me who have (had) a heavy eye glass prescription (-9.25 and -11). I went in as a borderline unsuitable candidate for PRK and he was confident I could get near perfect vision. No one should promise you perfect vision as every case is different, and eyes react to surgery differently. But the hope always remains for perfect vision, and, in most cases, people do reach 20/20 or better with PRK and LASIK. I was completely expecting to leave with a light prescription, and I was fine with that because the correction was so huge. My main goal was to stop wearing coke bottle glasses! I will have to wear driving glasses at some point, but that's it. I'm not using them now as I'm still in the recovery phase which can last a few more months. My vision ended up being around 20/25 after 5 months, which is suitable to me. It continues to get better as I heal. I still need reading glasses (LASIK cannot solve this as a whole) as nearly everyone over 45 needs them, however I was surprised that my reading glasses magnification level went down as well, which is a relief. That was a nice surprise. Dr. M. also caught some potential problems with my eyes that other yearly optometrist appointments missed, so I'm happily following up on that with a retina specialist. Dr. Mazerheri is very thorough, and on my surgery day, we checked my vision (to get the right numbers into the computer), no less than 4 times on different machines. The staff prepped me well for recovery over the weekend after the surgery and I never had any questions because they left anything out. The staff is super nice, accommodating, and they have their office running like a well-oiled machine. The only thing I disliked about the entire experience has nothing to do with Dr. M. The building his office is in has a couple issues (Campbell office). The doors are VERY heavy, and elderly people can have difficulty opening them. The building owner needs to put a couple thousand into updating and fixing the women's restroom because it had badly torn wallpaper and the toilets rocked.

I have tried to visit him for check…read moreups every year that I've lived in DFW and I am never disappointed in the quality of care and service provided by the doctor or anyone on his team. When my procedure was first done, the recovery time for the eye on which he did Lasik felt like no time at all. After decades of glasses and contacts, I was able to open my eyes when I woke up in the morning and be able to see clearly and not chastise myself for sleeping in my contacts. The PRK-eye had a longer recovery time, but even after all these years, my vision has not deteriorated and I have not experienced any issues or side effects from the procedure or the care I've received since then. Anytime a glasses-wearer I know tells me they are contemplating Lasik, I always recommend Dr. Mazaheri. I believe in the quality of his care but also the comfort of being able to go back to the same doctor who performed the surgery, who can remember me even after years of living out of state. I know others who went to other Lasik centers and never saw the same doctor twice. I want my doctor to know me and know my vision history and to be supportive of maintaining my eye health and the excellent outcome of his surgical work.

To preface: I have worn glasses for 17 years and contact lenses for 13 years…read more Hands down, this was the worst experience I have ever had at an optometrist's office. Here were the highlights (or lowlights if you will) of my experience: 1. On my first appointment I arrived on time and it was 45 minutes before I even saw Dr. Linda. I had the first appointment of the day and I had scheduled it that way intentionally so that I could minimize my time away from work. The technician who ran the initial tests and showed me to my room saw the doctor come in and commented, "She's late again". 2. I had both an eye examination and a contact fitting evaluation.. I was given a contact lens prescription and a trial pair with less power than mine because they did not have my high power lenses in stock (this is typical in my experience). I put in the lenses and immediately mentioned that they right lens did not fit well. In response, I was told that it sometimes takes up to 15 minutes for the contact lens to settle. I was then told that I could check out at the front desk. I looked at the doctor in surprise and asked, "Are you not going to look at the fit of my contact lenses?". I was told to try them out for a week and if they didn't work I could come back. 2A. Unsurprising, the right contact lens indeed did not work out. So I had to make another appointment and come in again. After the 2nd appointment, I asked if another trial pair would be ordered. I was told that they could order another pair and then was pressured into purchasing a year supply right then. I responded that I was not comfortable with buying a year supply before I had even tried my new lens after which a few more attempts were made to get me to purchase a year supply. 2B. I picked up my 2nd trial pair of lenses and when I got home, I discovered they were not the right prescription. I called and the woman who answered the phone first tried to convince me that they were correct (which they were not) and then agreed to ship the 3rd pair to my apartment. 3. I also ordered two pairs of lenses after my initial examination, one for glasses and one for sunglasses. After the time frame for their arrival had elapsed, I called the office and was told that they had arrived that day and I could come pick them up. 30 minutes later, they called me back and I was told that while adjusting my glasses, they had scratched one of the lenses past the point of being able to use it. They did apologize and told me they would expedite the order of the replacement lens and that it would arrive on Monday of the following week. I called on Tuesday of the following week when I had not heard from Optix. I was told that my lens was in. I responded that I would pick them up on Thursday when I was there for my follow up contact lens fitting from 2A. 3A. When I arrived on Thursday, I again booked the earliest appointment available (8:45). Dr. LInda walked into the front door of the office at 9:00 with shopping bags and gave me an unfazed greeting. I was shortly after led into a waiting room. I left the room and asked if I could get my glasses fitted (with the replacement lens and all) while I waited. I was then told that the lens had not arrived. Not only had they NOT been expedited but I was falsely told that they had arrived when I called. So it took me one more trip to be able to get everything that I had ordered. 4. When I first saw Dr. Linda, she suggested daily contact lenses. I mentioned at 3 times during the appointment that I was worried they were cost-prohibitive for the frequency in which I use my contact lenses. Despite this, I was told they were ordering a trial pair of dailies for me in my prescription. I asked what the price was compared to my monthly contacts and they were indeed more than I wanted to pay. When I expressed this and asked for a trial pair of my old lenses I was treated with contempt and the response "So you're NOT interested in daily contact lenses at all?". No... 5. I was charged for a special mapping of the eye. I have seen these services offered at other places when you fill out your paperwork but there was always an opt-in/opt-out option. Not at Optix. I said that I did not agree to this service and they referred me to the sheet I signed saying that I was responsible for anything that my insurance did not pay. I agreed with this to an extent, but pointed out that on my examination sheet (which was left on the table) the box saying 'Patient declined mapping' (or something to that effect) was not checked and was not even mentioned to me. After I said this the receptionist reached over and took the paper saying, "That's for office use, not patient use." However, in the end they agreed to not charge me for the mapping. I will never be returning to Optix EyeCare & Gallery or Dr. Linda Fain Hatton. It was absolutely the worst service I have received. If you value your time and your money, do not go here.

The first time I went, I thought it might be a one time thing. Nope. Every. Single. Time. I ended up needing cataract surgery, and everything went smoothly. After having cataract surgery in Nov/Dec, 2020 with Dr. Claire Chu I needed a follow-up procedure…read morecalled a Posterior Capsulotomy also known as a YAG. I've read that about one third of cataract patients require this follow-up laser procedure. Most need it within 6 months of the cataract surgery. I had noticed that my vision had deteriorated since my cataract surgery 3 years ago. During an annual vision exam with my optometrist he said I needed a YAG and so I went back to visit Dr. Chu. She confirmed that I did indeed need it and it was scheduled for one eye the following week and the other eye the week after. She even provided a recommendation for over the counter moisture eye drops and a coupon to use when purchasing them! Dr. Chu answered all of my questions and during the laser procedure talked me through exactly what was happening. My eye was dilated and moisture eye drops were given. The procedure was done while I was sitting in a chair with the head and chin pressed forward in their machine. There is a clicking sound and it feels like little BB's are being shot at the back of my head. It's not painful at all, just a weird sensation. I highly recommend Dr. Chu at Newman & Taub. I have used her services for a total of 4 procedures- cataract surgery and posterior capsulotomies in both eyes. I have complete confidence in her. She is friendly, professional and competent.

When I arrived, the check-in process was easy and done on an iPad, again explained by Brian. Sarah, the technician, helped me with the eye measurements, explaining what she was doing along the way and answering all my questions. Finally, Dr Johnson saw me, addressed all my questions and made some recommendations. Never pushy, never rushed, never salesy and extremely pleasant to talk to. I had to email again a week later to get a response, which was no, they won't accommodate my medical request. Ok, then. I'll be going to another eye doctor down the road and will be taking my husband and our business with me. The owner replied below, but I have no idea why she inserted that she is a minority as that has zero to do with my review. How odd to use your ethnicity status as a reply to a potential customer's poor experience with your company. She was more concerned with emphasizing that I am not a patient (which, I never would be after my experience with them), instead of addressing my complaint in my review which was related to the encounter I had with her rude staff member from the second I walked in the door to the fact that I had to email multiple times in order to get a response from them. She is correct that I was referred to them by my husband, but he was so upset after hearing about my experience that he now refuses to go back to their facility. We found a wonderful eye doctor called Premier just down the street. They were incredibly thorough and much less expensive than Bespoke (who charges $175 for an eye exam).
