Mattawoman Creek flows through Prince Georges and Charles counties offering 30 miles of coastal tributary to the tidal Potomac River of which 7 miles are a tidal freshwater estuary. Located in the northern part of the Chesapeake Bay, it consists of marshes, wetlands, freshwater and tidal water. For a closer look, explore the creek by boat, bike ride and/or foot trails. It is a great spot for birdwatching offering more than twenty different waterfowl.
