From what I understand, this business is under new ownership. The new owner's name is Jeff, I…read morebelieve. Nice fellow. Anyway, I called them to service the garage door opener that was in my house when I bought it. They sent a guy over, who "tried" to fix it, and for whatever reason, did or could not. So then he offered to sell me a "refurbished" unit instead of a new one at a discounted rate, with a one year warranty. I appreciate saving a few bucks, so I went for it. Skip ahead to two months later, and the unit won't work. The door opens but refuses to close. I call the guy that put it in to make good on that one year warranty, and his phone isn't working. I called, texted, and couldn't get in touch with him. Peeved, I called the company back and tried to track down the guy. He had been fired, apparently, and he'd been up to no good with other customers. Yikes. So, now I'm stuck with a machine that I don't know where it actually came from, it's broken, and I've already spent $$ to try and resolve the problem, and not really up for buying another new one. The following is why these folks get a 5 star rating from me. I called, and ended up speaking to someone in the Leominster office, and gave them all the history. I wasn't sure what, if anything, they could or would do, but I didn't know what else to try, so I talked to them and told them what happened. Someone called me later from the Worcester location called me and told me that they were going to take care of me, and send a tech out to my house and to fix the machine (which was probably stolen from them). Honestly - who does that??!?! Like nobody! I really appreciated that they cared THAT much about their relationship with me to go the extra five miles. Skip ahead, skip ahead - the machine is fixed, and a very wrong was turned into a very right. I'll happily refer and do business with them for years to come. This was exemplary treatment, in a situation that wasn't that great for them, and where they didn't HAVE to do anything for me. Thumbs way up.

Hardworking, Knowledgeable & Affordable Handyman…read more Have you been searching hard for a reliable handyman who knows what the hell he is doing but you're not getting anywhere? Well so have I. A handyman is not just another contractor for large projects but he is the one which you will always need for mid-size & small projects. In a way, it's a marriage for life; therefore, you need to find the right one. For a long while, I have been investigating the top San Diego County's handymen, their Licenses, Bonds, Insurance, BBB, Background & Reviews. I hire a lot of contractors & I always investigate them thoroughly; therefore, almost all my contractors are the best of the best. Read my reviews for some of the top contractors of each field. After a lengthy research & investigation, I came up with a short list & finally it all came down to "The Traveling Toolbox" as the handyman of my choice. I give myself credit to find this fine gentleman Michael Fitzgerald, the owner of The Travelling Toolbox. He is a third generation of substantial & solid handymen. His grandfather, father, uncle & cousins were & are handymen. There were streets in El Cajon named after them because they built parts of El Cajon. The Travelling Toolbox is a family business which covers practically major parts of the Greater San Diego County. This is not yet another Bang & Bologna, fled by night handyman service but they actually have electrical & general contractor licenses with decades of experience. They do everything from simple giant TV wall installation, all the way to electrical, plumbing, tiling, kitchen cabinets, bathrooms, door installations, & remodeling. They almost do everything. No job is too small or too large for them. Why Travelling Toolbox? Michael Fitzgerald has been doing what he does since his early teens working with his father. He actually studied this stuff & trained for life. He has all the proper licenses. He is a veteran who has done 2 tours of Iraq. As a solid American patriot, it is a no brainer for me to hire veterans, especially when they are experts like Michael. Let me give you 3 examples of what Michael has done for me: * Replacing & building 2 large double door kitchen cabinet solid floors. * Replacing a half vented windowed steel exterior laundry room complete door (door, frame & casing) & laundry room wall edge moldings. * Replacing a very difficult complete exterior front double door (door, frame & casing) & painting the exterior large wooden frame molding, interior casing & grouting the edge tiles. Observations As a journalist, I observe my contractors & ask questions so I learn from them. After 5 minutes of talking to Michael, I knew that he will be my lifelong handyman. After doing a few jobs for me, he has proven me correct. Michael is an honest, hardworking, expert. He is an honorable veteran & a decent guy. Ask him to do a job for you. He will tell you if he can do it or not but if he takes the contract, he will go out of his way to satisfy you. Don't even try to beat his prices because he is very reasonable. Let's say that I am an obsessive, compulsive perfectionist. I find Michael to be very detail oriented & neat. If he passed my extremely selective taste & test, then he is good enough for you. He is my handyman for life & there's your prayer. Amen!

South End

***STAY AWAY*** I…read moregot scammed by these guys so that you don't have to. Garage door was stuck open. AAA came out and employed extremely deceitful, predatory sales tactics to rip me off. After getting an initial quote to replace one door opener of $1850, I googled the price and found the average to be $5-900. I was told that the specialty nature of my garage doors and the age of them required advanced work, and that any of the other companies would quote me the same. I was also told that they have a special 5 year warranty that no one else includes that doubles the value of their service. Under false pretenses, I allowed the technician to start working. In less than 45 minutes he had completed the installation of the new opener. He then told me he could cut me a bulk deal to do my other two openers and total out to $4000. I begrudgingly agreed in an effort to lower my cost basis and update my other units to match, but also started researching more about the process while he drove to get the other motors. In all it took him 3.5 hours to install all 3 of these "specialty" repair units, including an hour off premises to get the additional supplies. The specialty part? An extension rail to accommodate my doors that are 8ft instead of 7ft. By the time he was finished working I was realizing what was taking place. He demanded on the spot payment via venmo, and said he could only provide the invoice from the office and it would be sent separately. As I was home alone with my 3 young children, I reluctantly paid him to get him off of my property. As I attempted to contact management to resolve, I realized that the company is intentionally deceptive. Every phone number is google voice, and every address is a mailing address. They advertise a 5 year warranty and 12+ years in business, while the license affiliated with them is less than 2 years old. Upon much insistence they provided me an itemized invoice to justify their pricing, which you can see in the attached image. This was NOT provided at the time of service, only over 24 hours later. They charged me $525 per motor unit, which retails for $250 at home depot. They charged me $102 for a keypad that retails for $49. They charged me $120 for remotes that were included in the boxes with those motors. They charged me $365 an hour for labor, PLUS a separate labor line of $120/hr for maintenance and adjustments, totaling $485/hr for installation. They charged me $99 for removal and disposal of old equipment, when half of the original equipment was left in my trash bins without my consent (I did agree to recycle the boxes from the motors, but later found rails and a motor assembly in my trash bin). The worst part? They installed 3 units with 2 pre synched remotes each. The pile of papers and remotes the tech left had only 5 remotes, which I later realized meant that the technician had an operable remote to my garage. This is a major security hazard as these are advertised as having 3-600ft range so now some random technician has an opener to my garage. I had to unsync and re sync everything. After informing them they conveniently claim one was missing from the box and blamed me for "confirming everything" when the work was done, when at the time I had no idea I was supposed to receive 6. By all accounts they ripped me off by well over $1000 on an incredibly simple job. I was susceptible and uninformed, and they shamelessly took advantage of me. I don't care about the money, but out of principle this company should be investigated and prevented from doing this to others. I am in the process of filing complaints through the Attorney General's office and the BBB. I advise anyone to steer clear of these scam artists. Unmarked trucks, only accept venmo to a personal, unverified, non business venmo account, no traceable names or phone numbers. It's all an elaborate mirage covering up theft in broad daylight. They pay google to be at the top of results and have tons of questionable reviews. Hope this helps someone from getting scammed.

Diamond guys installed our new garage door this summer. Gary, the owner, came to visit on-site,…read moreshowed us the options, discussed them with us, then `put up a really great quote. On the scheduled day his crew came in, built the frame and the trim around the door, installed the door, tuned up everything, took all the debris and left. Nice, polite and proficient folks. Now, we had a relatively new opener with sensors which we retained from the old installation. Diamond installers put the sensors back but mounted them relatively low because of the position of the brackets on the new door. When the fall came in we discovered that fallen leaves now confuse the sensors. It was almost four months after the job was done, but we called Gary and two days later there came two technicians, mounted the sensors on the walls instead of on the railing and voila! - everything works again. Since the opener was not originally part of the job we offered to cover the visit but Gary insisted that this is part of the service. Kudos!! I don't understand why people buy their garage doors from a big store when a proficient, affordable dependable and hassle free alternative is out there.
