I was pleased with the service at megabowl, as because I have large feet, I often expect to be disappointed when i get there, but nevertheless, they did have bowling shoes in a size 15! Overall, megabowl is a very relaxed, and fun place for all the family. And for the ones of you who want to stay late, it much cheaper if you go after 10 as you often get free games.

Basically, what happens is you go in and after a brief training video your fitted with a plastic shield and given a 'laser' gun. (don't worry it's totally harmless!) and then you go into a darkened room (don't wear white as they're are lots of ultra violet lights which add to the atmosphere). you're separated into 2 teams and given a base to guard, the idea is that each team attack the other base and score points which are all recorded and the score is given out to you at the end. You can also shoot each others which renders you unable to fire your gun for a few seconds and scores points for the other team. Not so good for little kids, but great for teenagers and I've seen quite a few stag parties have a go! Back to the bowling - it's tenpin and you can chose to go it alone or have bumpers, there's also the use of cradles for the less able bodied folks and little kids. They have a fully licenced bar aswell, and you can order food and drink to be delivered straight to your bowling lane! easy!

Where Roxy Ballroom treats the city of Leeds to a grown-ups only arena of ping pong, pool, and beer pong, this new venture is all about the adults-only bowling. No longer must we Leodians (or Loiners, if you prefer) visit those chain bowling spots, complete with the familiar sticky floors, food so salty and microwaved it'd survive a nuclear war, and the pesky annoyance of them young 'uns. No -- we can bowl in style. I popped along for the press night and have been back once for a bowl, and I have to say that I'm a fan. I love bowling, even if I'm useless for the first few rounds, and as much as the aforementioned spots do the job, they really just don't cut it. (Especially when the mouth eroding salt bombs that are deep fried mushrooms burn your mouth like lava. I look at you, Merrion Centre.) This is a place where you can enjoy all the silliness of trying to channel Jesus and The Dude, whilst actually enjoying a great drink, some great food, and some pleasant patrons. I couldn't be happier! The space is rustic -- you know the type, with exposed piping, brick work, and such. I like it, although I'm aware that everyone's doing it. The drinks are fantastic. There's a decent range of up-scale lagers and craft beers, an inviting cocktail list ranging the whole gamut of spirits, and a damned fine mocktail or two. (I know this as when I came back I was too poorly to booze. The non-alcoholic mojito -- winner.) I believe they even do milkshakes, which rounds off the American-style experience. The kitchen, open, has a small seating area and a lovely selection of bites. I tried the pulled pork pizza, which was every bit as tasty as you might expect. The sizes are very good -- even the small is respectably big -- and they're freshly made, naturally: not too doughy, generously topped, and flavoured well. I'll need a second try before declaring them in my top five for pizza here in Leeds, but they are absolutely solid. So solid I shook the chef's hand on opening night. For those with meeker appetites, grab yourself a selection of their Mediterranean style bites: olives, delectable houmous, pita, and more. Again -- all fabulous. And the bowling! What can you really say about bowling? It is, of course, just what you'd expect. The lanes are fresh, the system works well, and the balls are... well, balls. Fortunately, the small ones work even with tiny wee hands like mine. There's even ones with shiny, flashing LEDs, for those that bowl all fancy, like. It's £6 per person, per game until 5pm, then £8 per person, per game after. Really very decent, in my opinion, considering the lovely space and experience. And if you get enough of a crew together, that'll make for a few awesome hours of entertainment. I can see myself back for many more rounds. Love the place.

It's clean, the staff are nice and there are plenty of lanes - a few on the ground level and plenty more upstairs. Unfortunately, though there are lanes on the ground floor, there are a few steps leading down to them from bar seating area, making it difficult to access for people in wheelchairs - Doncaster or Castleford are better for disabled access. The superbowl's got a little bar and a cafe (a wimpy I think) as well as a few video games. It's not in central Wakefield but it's only about 15 minutes walk, there's a bus that goes right past, and it's got its own carpark.I'd recommend going on one of the party, where you get all night bowling with a DJ on and a free basket meal for about £12. Cheesy, but fun.

Prices are cheaper than the Hollywood Bowl chain and the facilities are good, with video screens, neon night bowling and decent music played in. The only downside is the food..it has a Wimpy..who has a Wimpy any more? Wimpy burgers are strange and soft and I'm scared of them. So eat before you go. Other than that, a great night out for all the family with free parking. Maybe not Superbowl but certainly Fun.

Anyhoo, an excellent compromise or combination, of green, flowers, pretty, play areas, etc is Pudsey Park. My idea to take friends kidlets here stemmed from the glowing reports this park has. Prior job projects included something on open spaces in West Yorkshire, and Pudsey Park comes in top of the list with regards to awards and such. It's been a Green Flag award winner every year since 2003, a worthy acheivement. The park is always clean, and I've never had any trouble, plus in half term and Summer holidays, there's plenty of families about, which is nice for the kids to play about, without being too loud and annoying for anyone enjoying the park sans child. So what's to do here? If you enter the park at the Car Park side, you'll immediately notice the playground, and there's a basketball court, and a skate park. Wandering through there's a bowling green, flower gardens, a glass house filled with exotic plants and a pets corner and aquarium and aviary. For replenishments there's also a little cafe too. At the moment the park is undergoing some regeneration, so there are some major developments going on, and the structure and layout of the park is changing. But when it's all done and dusted it should be even better than ever.

Since I'm on a park ting (getting all street again, word up), I thought it'd be rude not to look this bad boy up. Now most of the parks have been reasonable to good it has to be said but this one is a perfectly formed package. It should shout about itself, it's a Greenflag winner and has been on many occasions. That's probably because it's very well maintained and has loads of stuff for the kids. Pet's corner is a nice touch and they keep on reconstructing areas left, right and centre so it's only going to get better. You've got exotic fish and birds and a tropical greenhouse. So get your best silly hat and cargo shorts out and go jungle trekking in your own back yard. There are plenty of flowers and tree lined walks. Plus, skate park, green bowls and a bandstand. Altogether with some air trumpet now.
