There were also various class projects based on cultural aspects of the French speaking world. Plenty of homework, but overall, it was a fun experience, especially coming from not knowing any French before. This class actually did come in handy in one instance. When I took a taxi from the airport to my hotel, the driver knew no English. Fortunately, he had a GPS and I knew how to say the address number in French.
