Through VT I have worked with several students, for test prep and general course assistance. Varsity Tutors has clients who care and students that are motivated to learn. I have also been very pleased with Varsity Tutors' communication; they respond quickly and helpfully to any questions or concerns that might arise, and have always been very supportive of me as a tutor. Even though it is such a widespread, national company, I have always felt that my local Varsity Tutors staff cares about me as a tutor and genuinely wants to match me with students. Little Scholars left our elementary school high and dry after agreeing to provide two different…read moreafter school programs. We got an email the Friday before the classes were to start to tell us that they couldn't find a teacher so they needed to push the classes back. The email went on to say that perhaps we could help them locate a teacher. The end of the email stated that our contact person would be out of the office the rest of the (Friday) afternoon. I spoke with the owner, Rodney Jefferson, who was exceedingly rude and condescending. I was told that the situation was "disappointing and an inconvenience to you" by Mr. Jefferson. I attempted to explain that many of our parents were counting on those after school classes as childcare coverage, Mr. Jefferson suggested that I "just hire a babysitter." He spoke over me repeatedly, and refused to apologize for the last moment communication. Mr. Jefferson said "last minute would have been an hour before the class was supposed to start." I am simply appalled by his behavior. He also made personal attacks against me when I voiced my displeasure with the situation. I would certainly NOT recommend this business to any other school programs. They are neither dependable nor professional.
