Tutoring U

Tutoring U

Excellent!!! Tutoring U is amazing! My daughter had issues at school because of a bad (bully and…read morelazy) teacher. It got so bad I, and a couple other parents, removed our children from the class and put them in another school. The new school informed me that she was severely behind the rest of the class. She finished out the year at the new school, but because of the stress from her previous teacher her confidence was gone and her attitude changed drastically. I spoke with Michelle and her husband at Tutoring U, and they explained how they work with the students. I walked out of that meeting and could not wait to get my daughter started! Later that week I took my daughter in so she could be tested so they could see what her strengths and weaknesses were. They immediately gave me the results of her tests - no waiting - and they set her up on a tutoring plan. Immediately I started to see changes in my daughter! Her confidence was returning, she was happy and her stress was gone. Most important she was learning - A LOT! She was caught up on all the previous year's lessons and she was ready to start the new year. Currently, we are a few weeks into the new school year and her teacher has commented how advance she is math and reading and that she knows how to properly study. We previously tried the other national chain tutoring centers; they were very expensive, did not have one on one teaching (it was more like 4 to 1) and all they seemed to care about was having you sign a lengthy contract. I love that the tutoring is one-on-one. The curriculum focuses on the student's weaknesses, but will also review their strengths. I was always told what my daughter would be working on and how she did on the lesson. I was so happy with the progress my daughter made that half way through the summer I enrolled my younger daughter so she could get a start on the new school year. I will continue to use Tutoring U and I highly recommend their services. Thank you so much for helping my daughters!!

I am a homeschooling mom, and math has been become frustrating. Mrs Stephane comes to my house to…read morehelp my daughter with Algebra. Mrs Stephane is friendly and arrives on time. Her disposition is always cheerful. Mrs Stephane is encouraging and patient. My daughter can get so upset and stressed that she shuts down; Mrs Stephane has the ability to pull her out of her head and get her back on track. She helps my daughter not only learn math but also helps her feel math is something she can do. And I know this will help my daughter set up for success in mathematics. I am very happy with Mrs Stephane and would encourage any homeschooling family, or anyone at all to call her up.

I have taught Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus. I am also currently certified for 8-12th grade Mathematics in Texas. I have worked with students of all skill levels which include but are not limited to dyslexia, ADHD, ADD, autism, deaf, blind, English learners from throughout the world, mental health issues, and gifted children. This year I have decided to leave the school district and tutor full time. I've been tutoring peers since I was a sophomore in high school and prefer the intimacy of a one-on-one or small group sessions over large classroom settings. As female minority in STEM I hold a positive influence of inspiration to children who may not see adults that look like them in this industry.

I had never visited this newly built campus, Coach Archie Duran Elementary School!…read more It's a beautiful school with friendly, kind, and super-smart students! I substitute taught for two days, and the class made me feel welcomed! Loved the office staff! They were extremely supportive and helpful! I hope to be back very soon.

This 23 million dollar school is in its 3rd year of operation. The facility is nice but the grounds…read morekeeping has room for improvement. The front desk staff gives the school a good image. There is a new principal in her first year at the school. She has a different approach from the prior administration. I admire both and we will see what is the better leadership style. The academics are taught and some teachers go above and beyond. Some teachers profess to care about the students but actions seem to be often mismatched. Sometimes programs get discontinued and no explanation is given-- such as no science fair this year, not a continued emphasis and competition among grade level for the best rate of attendance, the afterschool groups don't seem to be emphasized as much as they were the last two years, although the school has a school uniform, the staff and teachers need a uniform as evidenced by the attire of some of the staff. I have seen faculty with sneakers untied. The parents are not too involved as shown by no PTA. The faculty has a nice, paved parking lot but many choose to park parallel on side streets obscuring vision. The dismissal procedure is utter chaos and quite dangerous with no observed security measures and there is no crosswalk guards. Tutoring is available and snacks are provided for students who attend the tutoring sessions. Parent conferences have to be short like 5 minutes due to the large ratio of students per certified teacher. When the school got a waiver for classroom size, I doubt if parents were notified as TEA recommends. I look pretty closely at my child's backpack and I did not see a letter giving information of the classroom students exceeding 22. There is a choir teacher and an orchestra teacher this current year and both seem invested in their programs. The art teacher is stellar. There are often delayed announcements such as when photos will be taken. Each week there seems to be a least one day that students don't have to wear the school uniform. The parent engagement liaison is exceptional and is good to pass on information. This school is having its growing pains and the school's overall report card grade for 22-23 was dismal. Educators can do a good job and results can remain undesirable if there is not the parental reinforcement and I believe that Coach Archie Duran does not have a good handhold with the parents.
