It's a great big space located right in a cool and casual part of College Park just north of Princeton Ave. But, there are a few downfalls - mainly that there are no bathrooms, and that it's super close to I-4 (perhaps the current I-4 renovation plans will block the park from the view/sound of the highway?!). There are certainly more peaceful parks in Orlando, but most of the ones tucked away in our neighborhoods aren't quite this big. There's so much potential here for this one.
There are numerous playground equipment pieces for the kids, baseball field, small basketball court, water fountains, and a good-sized open green space. The basketball court is only a half-court (and a small version at that), and features a hard rim with ZERO give - good luck ever thinking you'll get a lucky roll here. The baseball field seems to be in use nearly all of the time, so plan accordingly. In my experience, this park is either jam-packed or nearly empty. It's a good area to go for a walk or run, take the dog out, or play something where you need a good stretch of open green space.
The place could use a few more benches, but there are some good shaded areas throughout for lounging around depending on the time of day. Lots of parking on nearby streets, and a good place in general to factor as a resting spot on a bike ride, or to take your kids and pets to burn some energy. read more
