What do you have to lose? ;) Julia has different service options for matchmaking include being a paying client, where she will make finding a match a priority and find you multiple dates (if needed) within your specifications. She also works with other matchmakers in the area to help find your perfect match. The other option is being a member in her database for 1 year, which is $210. So! How the process works: first, you must check out her website and fill out a signup form. This will probably take you around 10 minutes, and asks the basic questions about you (education, do you smoke, want children etc. ), and a few short questions about what you are looking for in a partner. Also, this asks you to attach 2 photos. No selfies! If you have no good photos, worry not. She has a photographer that can take some good shots for your profile if you decide to sign up. From here, you wait for an email and possibly get on a call. Once you interact with Julia, and if she decides to take you on as a client, she let's you know that she will inform you once she has someone for you or is meeting the database members. The 1-on-1 meetings are approximately 30 minutes at her office in Mission Viejo. This meeting is for her to get to know you, see what your personality is like, and see what you look like since photos can sometimes be misleading (sometimes people look way better in person, and visa versa). Originally I went in wanting to be a paying client, but Julia was very honest and straightforward with me (which I love), and told me that she did not have a lot of options in my age range in her database at the moment, and did not want to just take my money. This spoke volumes to me, and showed that she is not in this business just for money, and that she truly has integrity. So from here, I went with the 1-year database. And I'll be honest, I felt that it could be months before I was matched with someone, I did not know what to expect. But boom! I paid over $3,000 expecting real support with job applications and networking but instead, I was left doing everything myself. They kept giving me tasks: build your LinkedIn, grow your network, search for jobs. But no one was actually helping me. I was told what to do, not supported. I had to look for jobs myself, send them the links, and then wait and even then, they were often late to apply, and I lost real opportunities because of it. The worst part? After I got no results! They later told me the networking service "hasn't started yet." After I did all the work and followed everything they said they still said it hasn't started, but they charged me anyway. And when I finally canceled, they refunded only $750, which doesn't even come close to what I paid. Yes, the resume writing was solid. But let's be honest: that's the bare minimum when someone pays thousands. What followed was a total lack of support, slow communication, and a feeling that I was completely on my own. I thought I'd be treated with care and integrity, and instead I feel scammed. I don't recommend this to anyone. I'm walking away with no interviews, no support, and a huge regret.

(Since that time I finished my graduate degree and am working in a suitable career.) After our second meeting, I was ready to move on and not give career therapists another thought. I have not had that luxury, however, since Julie LaCroix has spammed me and stalked me on social media ever since. Every couple years, I get re-added to her email list which I have never given her permission to put me on, and she has not responded to messages asking her to desist. She also periodically tries to connect with me on social media (she is undeterred by my refusal to connect with her, and, again, does not respond to messages asking her to desist in contacting me). I understand that she thinks networking will help grow her business. I don't understand why she thinks harassing people and ignoring them when they object would be beneficial to anyone. Given her systematic abuse of my personal information, however, I am no longer surprised that she could not process my objection to an unethical career. **Regarding Response** Notice the non-denial regarding the abusive email practices I describe. Also note the absence of a statement that she would address this matter and make sure I am not re-added to her list again in the future. The rest is a matter of he-said-she-said, but why, after 11 years, would I have reason to think of her--much less make random false claims in a review? I would encourage her to check her email (julie@julielacroix.com) to see that I have, in fact, contacted her multiple time over the past 11 years to ask that she stop re-adding me to her spam list. She has also found me years after using her (dis)services and tried to get me to engage with her professional profiles on Facebook and Instagram over the years.
