I ended up with a mortgage that was about $200 a month more than I had been paying, but my credit cards and two home improvement loans were paid off entirely, saving me several hundred dollars a month at a much better interest rate. Due to the crazy housing market, we bought the new home before selling our existing home, which creates an interesting debt ratio and Grover informed us that underwriters would be happier if we sold our cheaper car (or paid it off). We actually ended up selling our more expensive car that we planned to sell before moving anyway, but the dealership dragged their feet starting the process (first party dealership relative to the finance company). This created a headache for Grover's team because the car financing was left open due to the incredible slowness of the dealership (it took over three weeks for the car loan to be closed out and over a month to get paid!), but he worked with us to get an exception letter for the underwriters. Unrelated lesson learned: pay off the car, then sell it, if time matters and you have the resources. Ultimately, we plan to use Grover again the next time that we move.

We initially went to see her to get an idea of what our home budget was going to be as we searched for a new home for our blended family. We were renting a fairly expensive home and wanted one of our own. There's was a bankruptcy on one side and a rental property on the other. She took all of our info in and listened to our situation. Not only did she provide advice on what we could afford, she offered options on how to improve our situation. Unlike many others, she did so without judgment or negativity. Not once did I hear any kind of comment of "you should have done this" or "if that was different." She instead offered actual, obtainable solutions which made a HUGE difference in credit scores! We ended up not having to sell the rental property for the down payment as we first thought. Christine spent the time to run thru scenarios of what to pay off and when which saved us a TON of money.
