Went in a couple times and was pleasantly surprised that it was a decent shop. Then I dealt with some lady named Tiffany, which is why I stopped going there. The Budtender Tiffany was rude and ruined my experience of shopping at Matawana. Plus, there are places locally that charge less for the exact same products sold there. As far as Im concerned, the sales people I dealt with prior to her were great, 2 separate experiences with Tiffany made me decide going to the Travel Agency on Flatbush or any other dispensary were better options than supporting a place who hires assholish people. read more

I've been following this shop for a while and been meaning to go by. So, when I saw they were having an event for Halloween, I had to go. Plus, its Black, woman owned? Yes, please. The staff was extremely friendly, including security. They had a nice collection of products and it was really a fantastic event. Seedy, shady, and semi-closed when I visited. I felt very uneasy entering, and their display case was nearly bare. The experience was akin to copping nickel bags in Tompkins Square park in the '60s. While the product itself is satisfactory, my experience with the staff was extremely disappointing. When I politely mentioned that the constant, blaringly loud, loudspeaker announcements were disruptive, I was met with rudeness and dismissiveness. Rather than addressing the concern, the staff responded aggressively, stating it was a "me problem" and even suggesting I should move to the suburbs. In a close-knit neighborhood where mutual respect is valued, this type of behavior is both surprising and unacceptable. I love this place! I've been to most of the legal dispensaries since they started opening but there's no other with as good customer service as Matawana. Today we had Charlie help us pick flowers. We described what we were looking for and you can see he was traveling through the vaults of secrets in his mind. Within just a few minutes he came back with a hybrid and a sative that meet our requests. As for pricing , you couldn't ask for more. Great prices for great quality and service. Hmmm... I would like to first say that the employees here have been great. I like talking to them, they are knowledgeable and real. The manager has been rather nice to me. HOWEVER, there has been a lot of turnover and probing a bit further, the experience sounds like working for a hellish retail job like Gamestop or something. "Oh you had a relative that died? Well if you leave, don't expect that you will still have a job when you get back." Or another favorite: "Oh, you asked and gave management a very early notice of about seven or eight months that you will be going to visit family for the holidays? Well too bad. You have to work regardless of whether you have paid for a ticket to fly." The more I type this the more angry I get. I will be letting other customers know that this is how this place runs and until they stop being buttholes to employees I will be limiting how often I visit until there are some changes made. I will not tolerate employees being called "peasants" by management. Oh and this is one of the only dispensaries I've noticed that nickel and dimes people with change. Other places round to the nearest quarter. Oh and one more thing: they have promised a rewards/point system, but I guess they are not doing that or haven't had the right people to implement one. read more

I'll save you guys the trip. Don't fall in love with a product cause they most likely won't have it in stock ever again. Their main product (DANK) is just cheap NYC weed. (you feel light headed for 5 mins and your back to normal, it's like wtf) And most importantly, if you go on their website and show them to their face you want a product - they'll tell you it's out of stock and they'll up price you for a different product just to make more money. Half the staff is high durning their shift One person would say they have a product then the next cashier would say they don't. However when I was an employee here, they had me until 630 and decided it would be OK to change my schedule randomly to 730 while I was on shift and while I had seen that I was off at 6:30 and when I told people they suggested to screenshot my schedule, but that was when I realize that they wanted me out because they wanted me to leave at 6:30 knowing that I had plans after work and this is the type of job this is this is the type of place that this is if they want you gone, they will get you gone! read more

Cool dispensary but nothing extraordinary, less selection compared to Manhattan but expected. Service is okay. I ordered online and they told me one of the products is out of stock - their site doesn't connect to the inventory tracking they have. We called ahead about using your card and fees - they suggested coming in and using their payment system (Stronghold). You link your bank account but when you check out with it online, surprise, theres still a credit card fee which defeats the purpose really which we mentioned to the employees. Spacious area but no bathrooms for customers & no exceptions. Worth a visit to check out if you're in the area, otherwise don't bother. Order in store, no benefit to online order unless you're in a rush but be mentally prepared for the product you want to potentially be out of stock. read more
