Wonderfull evening in Arroyo de la Miel. We (three typical looking male tourists) sat down at Matahambre by accident on the last day of our vacation. It turned out to be the limelight of our culinairy trip through the Costa del Sol.
The menu was very extensive, and we studied it good. In the mean while we saw beautifull dishes flying by to our neighbours tables. I wanted to just point them out to the the waiters. But there was also an element of surprise, so many different little dishes, we had to discover it ourselves.
We orderd 3 little chicken burgers for EUR2,- each. and the chicken was made with herbs, the bread was smeared with mayonaise and spicy sauce. it was so tasty, that we decided to put the bread away and save more room for what was coming.
We ordered Ibereco meat, I cant remember the name, but they had it put in a bread roll with soft spicy green pepper. The flavours were very much in balance.
Then we had a chicken sate with peanut sauce, so subtile. Together with a lamb skew, it was so tender it could melt on your tongue, together with the spices it was pure heaven.
We als had codfish in vegetables, to me this was a wrong choice, probably because I had too much meat before, the taste of the fish dissapeared. My own fault.
After we were sattisfied we saw so many sweet looking deserts coming by, we where like Charlie in the Chocolate Factory and wanted to see the menu for a fourth(!) time.
Desert was just as good as the rest, chocalat hot brownie with soft icecream. Its been 3 days but I can still recall the taste.
All dishes where made with love, love for food, you can really taste it.
The waiters where very professional, just like they should be. Working with respect towards the beautifull food they are serving.
And last thing: As Dutch tourists we where so happy to experience this, because at home we pay triple for the quality they serve at Matahambre.
