While many of the dishes are traditional, they *do* have a wonderful twist on many recipes... from tapas (like patatas bravas - what a sauce!) to their casera (homemade) dishes, like their various paellas. So the steak had gone from 300g down to 225g and over half of that was pure fat that went to the garbage. There was no seasoning of any kind on the steak either. Probably the worst steak experience I have ever had at a restaurant.

Surprisingly, the hidden gem Vivinwine was open and without a crowd. It's on a small side street and we were the only ones there at the time. Our party of 5 took the large table in front of a window looking into the kitchen. The staff were all pleasant and friendly. They made us feel like we were dining in their home. When I asked what the Carne o Pescado Brasa (grilled meat or fish of the day) was, the chef cheerfully brought out two fish species to pick from. He didn't know the English term but we found it was a whole pliace (I never heard of the English term either)! I had fun watching him prep and grill my lunch. And it was very tasty, a colorful, healthy foodie dish which was the best lunch I've had on Sitges. My first course Tartar de Kumato (Tomate Negro) was a refreshing tomato salad. My friends' entrees were delicious as well, especially the Carrillera de Cerdo Rustica (roast pig cheek) Arroz del dia which was Black Paella, and the Merluza en Salsa Verde Cítrica (Hake in citrius green sauce). For dessert my selection of Crema Catalan con Crumble was fabulous. The lunch menu is in Catalan, so Google Translate camera came in handy. The menu changes daily. Lunch prix fixe 3 excellent courses plus wine for 14,90€. A steal!

Whenever we come to Sitges we almost make a pilgrimage to Bon Estar to partake in their famous and fabulous Paella Marinera, Seafood Paella. Also unique and delicious is Arroz negro con Sépia y Almejas, Black Rice with Cuttlefish and Clams. This trip we went to Bon Estar twice. I tried the Prensado de Cochinillo "Bon Estar 50" which is Roasted Suckling Pig. I'm not sure what the 50 meant and the dish was not what I was expecting, thinking it would be more like a Lechon with crispy skin. Instead it came in a pastry puff shell. Paletina de Codero Asada a Baja Tempuratura, Roast Shoulder of Lamb was nice and tender. As always, the Tiramisu dessert is a highlight. It comes in a jar, and so rich and creamy! Pair it with a Cortado!

Our reserved table for 10 afforded us the ability to order many shared starters before our own entrees came. Favorite starters: *Galacian Octopus (Pulpo Gallego) was perfectly cooked tender, and came with a delicious sauce over sliced potatoes. A friend even ordered it as his entree! *Fried Calamari (Los Calamares) came in cut strips and we are them all. *Marine clams (Las Amejas) were fresh and bathed in a fantastic white wine and garlic. *Cuttlefish with Garlic (Sepia a la Plancha) was grilled whole and I could've eaten one by myself. My entree was Grilled Turbot (Rodaballo a la Plancha). The fish was so huge it was split into four entrees. It was the tastiest fish on my trip. It was perfectly grilled and moist. I had no problem with bones. Grilled Hake (Cogote de Merluza) and Sole were also delcious. For dessert don't pass up the creamy limoncello served in a frozen lemon! I forgot the names of the wines we had but we ran through 5 bottles of amazing Priorat. Since discovering Priorat wines in Sitges, I've been on a mission to find it in the US. It's pretty difficult!
