Honestly I'm so disappointed but I should've realized when most of the reviews were from 3+ years ago. This place was walking distance from my house and still had a decent rating so I figured I'd check them out. To save on spending I have a habit of getting things like shoes & bags refurbished to last longer. I've had these heels for awhile and there was some spongy material inside the strap that started poking out - so I took them in to be repaired. I know there's a language barrier but we acted the whole scenario out - all I asked for was for him to close/sew the seam closed. As you can tell by the photo - the strap is supposed to look like a tube almost - cylinder. The seam came open on one side. I pick them up - and he completely removed the inside material from the opened part and just added 'real leather' to the backing. I think he assumed I would be happy with the real leather. But it completely takes away from the style of the shoe so now I regret bringing them and will prob just order a new pair at some point. On top of that - he didn't change the corks as shown. He offered to do it on the spot but I was already irritated that the result was not what we discussed. I will not be back read more

I dropped my very favorite pair of Steve Madden boots off because the toes were beginning to turn up, asking to have them straightened. When I returned to get them, I found my boots ruined. The trim around the tow of one of the boots had been completely notched out with a knife, there is no repair for that. It's hard to know what the man was saying, since he speaks no English, but when I told him I wasn't paying the $20 he was demanding for ruining my boots, He began trying to pull them out of my hands. He then locked the door with his keys and told me I wasn't leaving until I paid him. I attempted to call the Hollywood police, but was unable to reach their dispatch. I can't say how thrilled I am a neighbor referred me to this place. I'm super picky with my shoe repair and had a pair of boots I adored that needed to be re-soled. Last quote was about double what I paid here and they couldn't guarantee they'd look original. Total bonus...owner is the sweetest person. read more

I have been coming here for years. My dry cleaner on Hollywood Boulevard referred me here. A couple things you need to know when coming here it is cash only and you pay up front. So as I tried to come here on Monday not realizing they are closed that day as well as Sunday. I usually don't carry alot of cash so I tried to guess so I will be prepared. So I figured $20 for the heels on dressy boots and shoes. When I came today it came to $16. for both and I can pick them up on Saturday which is great as he is right next to the Scandinavian Bakery that has great cappuccino on Tyler Street in Hollywood. He does great work and I probably won't have to go back with those two pairs for at least 6 months if not more. Now he doesn't do suitcase repair I asked and they sent me somewhere else for that repair in Aventura. read more

This is the worst shoe repair place I have ever been too! I took my purse I for three missing screws. I informed the man at the counter that if he couldn't match the screws to call me and let me know. NO ONE CALLED ME!!! Then when I went in to retrieve my purse after a week, he precedes to tell me that it will be $20 for some screws!! I only paid $30 for the purse. I asked him why and he said that they were custom screws. LIES! I now have off colored noticeable screws and caked up glue smeared all over and my strap is glued to the hanging from the handle!!! read more

I have been here on two separate occasions. The man is nice, and it's always good to support local business. The first time I went I was unaware it is cash only. I dropped my shoes off and paid at pickup. This time I took cash, knowing the cash only rule. Warning!!! Make sure your ticket says 'paid'. I paid at drop off, but my ticket did not say so. I paid the $8 again, figuring it wasn't worth making a big deal. But this was highly disappointing. I would still recommend them, just make sure both tickets say paid! read more

I brought my favorite pair of embellished Vionic sandals in to have both thong strap posts replaced because one had broken. Since the sandals were well worn, I also asked if he could reinforce the under-straps so they would be stronger and last longer. He said he would add leather under-straps and posts and they would last a long time. When I went to pick them up, he did not do what he promised to do for the $25.00+ 5.00 TIP I paid him... No leather straps or "posts"... just GLUED the existing post to the strap. He also put a horrible leather insole over Vionic's awesome textured orthotic insole, and when I questioned why he covered them, he said he wanted to make them "look like new". I took them, wore them for 1 month and the post broke. I brought them back and he lied and said I only paid to have the leather insole put on and did not pay for anything else... "not broken posts or reinforced straps." He took them and said he would put leather posts, and when I picked them up, once again, he had glued the existing post. After lying again about me "paying to put a new leather insole" covering the orthotic insole, I took the sandals and left. Wearing them now is so uncomfortable because the leather insoles sweat and I'm sure the resewn posts won't last a few weeks. I have been coming to his repair shop for years before he left Downtown Hollywood, and was so happy I found him again on Dixie Highway. Unfortunately, he seems to have left his honesty and the great quality of his work at his Downtown location. If you decide to go to him to fix anything, make sure you take a picture of the item you're dropping off and have him put in writing what you hired him to do. If I could give him "0" stars I would.
