Just had the shade installed. Was delivered to MasterMax in timeframe discussed; installed 3 days after they recieved it. 3 person team installed shade, including electrical very quickly and cleanly. No mess. Moved back everything they needed to disturb for install. Offered to paint wires to match house (my paint was dry, not their fault). Took time to discuss maintenance and recommend tips regarding use and most common troubleshooting (most oftentimes related to customer overloading electrical, or overrunning motor). They were nice and patient when my 6 year asked what they were doing. Professional folks. Would use again, but don't expect I'll need to do so re this house. Do recommend! read more

MasterMax made modifications to and extended our existing awning, added a ceiling fan and a retractable screen. What we wanted was not a simple job. They did the job earlier then expected and showed up on time each day. Their crew were true craftsmen, constantly checking with us to make sure they were doing what we wanted and suggesting options better then what we were initially thought we wanted. Our awning from Don's Awnings was completed this week and it looks amazing!!! Don is a great guy, polite, professional and easy going. I had a large patio cover built with large drop down shades several years ago when the Company was owned by Don's Awnings. The business was sold. The new owner Eugene took over and the name was changed to Mastermax Builders. I needed them to come see if they could help me with a drain problem on a portion of the patio cover where it attached to the house. I also had been thinking of getting some drop down shades for my two small dining room windows. Eugene was very helpful in explaining everything about the new shades including cost etc., checked the older large shades and gave me some tips on how to make them last longer. They also put all of the new and older shades on one remote which makes it so much easier for me to operate. Jeremy and Slava did a great job installing the shades and cleaning out that drain on the entire side of my house which was plugged with leaves and mildew from my tile roof!! We had our awning and roman shade installed on April 25, 2022 by Master Max Builder in Rocklin, (they used to be called Don's Awnings). Eugene, the owner and Mike, the General Manager, met with us at our home and went through all of the options available to us. They were very knowledgeable on the products and allowed us to weigh the pros and cons of the different systems available. We did not feel rushed, as they made sure to answer all of our questions. We received bids from 3 other companies, but there was no comparison for the quality and service that we received. Our back porch faces the west setting sun and the heat is brutal! Immediately after installing the awning we could feel a relief from the heat (and it is only April). Fantastic company to do business with. The installers were on time, respectful, and very informative. I can't say enough about this company. Everything from our first meeting with Eugene and Mike for the quote, to scheduling the work, to the actual installation all went very smoothly. They did quality work, with quality materials. Don's Awnings was acquired by Master Max. My experience with Don's was fantastic. However, I've been trying for TWO YEARS to get my screen serviced by Master Max and they always have an excuse. "This is the wrong season." "We'll call you to get you to get you on the schedule." "We have to cancel because our previous install went overtime." "We have to cancel because of the rain" (it didn't rain). "We aren't working in your area this week/month." I have offered to pay a premium to get them to come to my area (El Dorado Hills) or to come on a Saturday, but they have been scheduling appointments and canceling them. I realize that servicing a screen does not bring in as much revenue and an install, but if they don't do service, they should tell you up front. I am sick of Eugene's excuses and would not recommend this company to anyone. THEY MAY BE GREAT AT MAKING ESTIMATES AND INSTALLING THE PRODUCT, BUT DON'T EVER ASK THEM FOR FOLLOWUP SERVICE. WOW! Who knew finding a reputable, reliable Patio Cover contractor would be so daunting? My wife and I interviewed several contractors (half of which we had talked to at various home shows), and the bids were all over the map, in addition, some of the companies really came across shady (permits optional?). Others seamed to be very solid and professional, but never provided us a final bid, or returned our calls, or their bids were so ridiculous, they clearly did not want our business. We have worked on several projects that required the use of contractors over the last 14 years, and none could have prepared us for this. I am so glad, we found Don. Solid work, attention to detail, very quality build. Yes, Don was not the cheapest, nor the most expensive, but he and his crew really provided a quality install, on a project that required a lot of extra planning/work, as the install was for a paver patio, not a concrete patio.
