I've had many counselors in my lifetime and this is the first time I've felt so invalidated and like every problem in my life I'm to blame for. He was very unpleasant and hardly a people person. I felt so uncomfortable trying to open up about my feelings and it was the wrong decision on my part. He said I needed professional help and I was the reason for my relationship problems. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. That is not how you treat a new patient or a human being in my opinion. I tried to give a male counselor a chance so that I didn't seem biased, and I was hoping it would help my boyfriend open up about his feelings as well. That is the exact opposite of what happened. Just a heads up, he is actually a social worker who works at Bright Path part time. I'd recommend making sure you are speaking to a licensed therapist who's been trained in the field of therapy and family counseling.

First, Alkira didn't accept my insurance so we have been paying out of pocket, Elaine has promised for months that she would turn in the code she received from my family Dr a month ago and she has done nothing with it and I continue to pay out of pocket. She then kept 2 of my credit cards and 3 of my husbands on file without our permission and ran them multiple times each, each time we had to go to the receptionist and the card worked just fine. Then Elaine claimed I missed an appointment with her and it was a huge misunderstanding and 20 minutes into our alloted meeting time she charged my credit card that she kept on file without my permission because I "missed" my appointment. The receptionist immediately refunded the $75 missed appointment fee. Finally I get to see Elaine after all of this happens, and she yelled at me and was extremely rude and unprofessional in her tone and her words. So I told her and her receptionist I would not be back and that I don't believe someone like Elaine should be "counseling" troubled people if she is going to raise her voice and talk to them in a bad tone. Elaine claims to specialize in trauma - she certainly doesn't know how to talk to people with severe trauma.

Lissa and Thrive In Healing/The Syracuse Yoga Collective are among my favorites. I know that whenever I attend, I'm in for an easy, relaxing, rejuvenating flow. The energy is always good and the mood is always welcoming. I recently enjoyed a candlelight rooftop yoga session on a downtown rooftop on a particularly warm night in October (what a treat!) and it was so restoring and full of community and self-love. Plus, fun - there was a DJ! Lissa tends to end her lessons with a sound bath, which adds an extra element. Looking forward to even more experiences!
