I ordered a prawn salad to start, which was perfectly nice, then the fish special for my main. The fish special was salmon with spices - and was really really tasty! Portion sizes weren't too big and were perfect for a lunchtime meal. The only slight gripe that I had was the veg served alongside my salmon, which wasn't great - but a bit of sauce made up for it. The only problem with Irrocco was that we were the only people in the whole restaurant. It's quite a large place - so it felt very obvious that we were alone. They also put a service charge on to our bill - which we weren't told about before hand. Irrocco is nicely decorated though with smartly dressed staff and stylish service. Marcantonio's or 'Marr-keys' rests beside Wok Express near Motherwell Library on Hamilton Road, in shouting distance of a few pubs which gets them alot of business. They thrive on the squad of schoolies from Dalziel High School down the road though at lunch time. I dare anyone to try get served in here at lunchtime. The food is great, and not as expensive as other chip shops, with a constant wee production line waiting for you in the hot plate. Sometimes the chips aren't piping hot, but that's about all I have to say as a negative point. They also do a half a fish supper type contraption which is becoming more and more common which I won't argue with one bit. The ice cream, as has been mentioned, is also excellent. There's also something slightly nice about the wee box they give you your food in with Marcantonio's on it, as if they take a wee bit more pride in their business than other places. No reason why they shouldn't either.

I arranged to meet my 'date' (we'll call him Jim) at Azzurro (never having heard of it, I did a quick google before I left). So, needless to say, I was shown to 'our' table, where I ordered a glass of wine, and got comfortable. Jim was late (surprise surprise), so I scowered the menu, and settled on an old favourite, Penne arrabiata. This was inbetween every waiter/chef/host in the place asking me if I wanted to order "er, no, waiting on someone." Jim eventually showed up 20 minutes late (doing well so far, mate). By this time, the large glass of wine I'd just drank was working it's way through my brain, so I was fine with it. So, he chose and we (eventually) ordered (where were all the staff from before?!), not before he had quizzed the waitress about the ingredients of the food, and their origins (when someone starts a question with, "I'm very carbon concious - do you know how far some fruit/veg travels!?" you know it's going to be a good meal). My 2nd glass of wine arrived, and we made the obligatory small talk "what do you do? where are you from?". Well, he did anyway. I didn't get a word in edgeways. Our food came out pretty speedily, which was nice (in fact, at this point in time, it was fantastic: the quicker the food came out, the quicker I could eat, and thus the quicker I could leave), although, mine looked like it had been haphazardly thrown into the bowl. Nevermind, the proof is in the taste. My 3rd glass of wine may have skewed my tastebuds, but it wasn't the best pasta I've ever tasted, but it did the job. Jim seemed to enjoy his Carbonara (he scraped the plate with his finger so I take that as a good sign (ewwww - not in public!)). I declined desert ("Why... another glass of wine would be just PERFECT!"), but Jim ordered one of their specials. Thankfully, before you knew it, his desert was gone (as was my wine) and we were paying the bill. We said our awkward goodbyes, walked to the underground, and was gome regaling my flatmates with the awful tale less than 2 hours after it had begun. Best part of the night. Needless to say, I never ventured out for another date with Jim, not have I been back to Azzurro. Maybe it was just the (awful) date, but something didn't seem to click with me here. I might try it again though, but for the moment, Azzurro, I think we should see other people (wine was good though).

The staff was very nice and accommodated us by making the BBQ pizza....It was a first for him. We ordered a hamburger, BBQ chicken pizza, friend mushrooms, lamb and cheese french fries. The pizza was very good with delicious crust. The French fries were cooked to order so they were hot and fresh. Everything else we would have needed more drinks to enjoy.

In addition to this, i'm failing in my quest for a cab, so end up having to walk home from Partick to Kelvinbridge carrying a guitar that started out light, then realised halfway home that it was infact a planet and thus started to weigh so. Grrrr is the word of the day, so it was with sheer joy that i spotted this old faithful and huff/puffed my way in for a pizza to drown mt sorrows. 5 mins later later I'm heading home with a hot steaming meat feast in my hand (easy now people) and a happier head.
