There's seating inside, but it's mostly occupied by friends of people who work there (from what I gathered, they all seemed to pretty friendly with each other, but I could be deluded). Their pizzas are kinda interesting. The one I like is one that has garlic butter and potato and red onion on it. I mainly like it for the novelty of having potato on pizza. It is kinda strange, right? But I also like getting pizza from here because they give you yummy garlic mayo with your pizza. What can I say, I like garlic. Definitely beats many of the takeaways in Marchmont, and it's pretty reasonably priced.

We were dead beat on the Friday so decided to get a takeaway. I popped into the restaurant earlier on in the week to pick up a menu and found it very clean & traditionally decorated. They offer a delivery service to Kirkintilloch for £1, Lenzie £1.50. Reasonable rates. There is a bar opposite the kitchen ( you can watch them cook your meal ) with a few stools so you can have a drink while you wait for your order. And so onto the food! Quite a large range of starters ranging from traditional prawn toast , pork dumplings and the interesting sounding crispy gyosa -a deep fried vege dumpling. Soup is also on offer. Main courses - curry's 5 dishes with chilli ratings,ranging from Thai green curry to a Panang curry to name a few. Stir fry's with similar ratings on offer, 8 to chose from .There's a choice of either chicken, beef, pork, prawns , vegetable or tofu for the curry&stir fry mains. Fried rice dishes and noodles also. Thai rice, sticky rice and coconut rice to accompany as well as the good old "French fries" Unfortunately - for the Thai Cafe we had have a few glasses or 4 of Proccecco so "the edge" had been taken off our appetite, so only had room for a main course each :( I ordered a chicken Pad Khing - stir fried ginger in yellow bean sauce, spring onion and mushroom with 1 chilli rating. My friend a Thai red curry -chicken also with 2 chilli rating - described as an "authentic red curry" bamboo shoots,courgettes,peppers,green beans, coconut milk. Coming in at £6.95 each. We chose 2 coconut rice @£2.95 each. Delivery arrived on time (30mins) not bad for a Friday night. And arrived with a "free bag of thai crackers" yum :) And so onto the food!! I opened the red curry first and found it as described, but disappointingly swimming in an extremely watery thin sauce :( Unfortunately my Pad Khing had a similarly thin sauce..the consistency of which resembled soup :( I've had these dishes before several times, both in Thailand and also UK and so were expecting sauces to be thicker, not as thick as an Indian ,but not as thin as soup :( ! I decided not to complain, that night as it was too late ,so would leave it to Monday. Problem was solved by reducing liquid to a thicker sauce which was actually very tasty :) The coconut rice was delicious. I popped into the restaurant tonight to tell them how disappointed we were. To be honest they were a bit at a loss for words. They stated that nobody had complained about food to date - they've been open for approx 3wks. I'm not in the habit of complaining, I told the manager, i was just very disappointed,as I was so looking forward to my meal. And that I felt the need to give the need to give them feedback- whether it's good or bad its always useful. I was niggled at her dismissive attitude, but just put it down to the fact she hadn't had to deal with a complaint before :( She apologised and offered me 50% off a meal in the restaurant and said they would "look into it" . I feel they are genuinely lovely people,and we should do all we can to support new local business. . Hopefully this was just a "bad night" and will put it down as a "one off" :) I look forward to trying out a three course meal in the resteraunt in the coming months :)

Burgers, pizzas, and most importantly kebabs, are the main dishes on offer, as well as the sacred falafel wrap! What does confuse me is that half the menu has the name Palmyra right next to it. I know the name isn't exclusive to kebabs, but I get the feeling Palmyra may supply a lot of the food Istanbul Kebabs serves. Could Palmyra be so cutting edge in the market, other take outs want their food? I will be investigating this. However, as far as taste is concerned, there's little to complain about, and whilst the place is far from glamorous, I was pleased with my doner kebab! They're not too expensive, and veeery conveniently located if you're a Pollock halls student (which I was at the time) so good for a quick bite.

The only down side is that occasionally they are a little dried out, and the staff just throw in everything without asking if you want salad, sauce etc. This is not a problem for but I know a few people who are not too keen on their lettuce and it always causes a little bit of hassle. It's either one or two slices and you can see in the hot plate how much you're up for. The pizzas LOOK good, I have never tried them. Even with good intentions of getting something different, I always get a fish supper. It's a nice enough wee chippy, clean and tidy. It can get a bit intimate at peak times as it is pretty tight in there. You can top up on coffee and other essentials too, but Duke Street has plenty of shops with products like that on offer. The reason you go to Claudio's is for good old fashioned no nonsense Chip Shop food with hefty portions of salt and vinegar. Yum.

I opened it as soon as I got home and was surprised to see that it was like shredded chicken mixed with the rice. Nonetheless, I dug in. I could tell a lot of the spices and flavors were there, but in truth I got sort of over the taste after digging into it a while. The restaurant itself seemed really nice and the actually quality of the food was good, I think the plate just wasn't for me. However, I'd still be willing to go and simply try something else. I do think it's worth a go since any complaint of mine solely lied in a personal preference as opposed to anything to do with the service!
