After being a steady customer at the Edison Master Clips, I decided to go out of my way to try the third Bound Brook location which opened 3 months ago. (Though the grand opening has already been advertised on Master Clips' website, I'm actually a little reluctant to write about this location since I'm hoping it'll stay under the radar for as long as possible before the mainstream crowds discover it, if they haven't already.) To my surprise, the waiting area was enormous, in a room at least three times as large as the one in Edison. The clipboard sign-in system here is a primitive but ingenious feature that I wish the Edison location would implement instead of using the frustrating and honor-dependent "who's next/ I am/ no, he is/ wait, I was here before all of you" triage method. Appointments are an extra $5, but there is an actual wall-mounted white board with time slots to record your appointment time and choice of stylist. For walk-ins, the basic haircut price is still the standard $15. There are 6 barber chairs, but currently only 3 guys are on staff--so expect at least a half-hour wait unless you have an appointment. I almost prefer this smaller setup to the 7-man operation at the Edison location since the stylists don't spend as much of their time shooting the breeze in Spanish and distracting each other, which hopefully helps them devote more attention to your precious hair. I arrived at 3:40 PM on a Saturday, and I waited for about 40 minutes with three guys in front of me, so my haircut didn't start until half an hour before closing and wasn't finished until 15 minutes after closing. Normally, I'd expect stylists to be exhausted, cranky, jittery, rushed, etc. at the end of the workday, but Alvin still did a bang-up job nonetheless. This Master Clips is across the street from a Chase bank and in a building shared by three other businesses, including a Szechuan Kitchen next door. Like its sister locations in Edison and Avenel, this cash-only location has an ATM, but with Wells Fargo, Chase, and Valley National Bank branches within minutes' walking distance on W Union Ave, you can pick your poison when it comes to ATM cash withdrawals. The other amenities at this Master Clips include a clean working single-occupancy restroom, a leather sofa, three mounted HDTVs, a snack vending machine, and free wi-fi that actually works. read more

Good Afternoon , everyone this is my first time doing this review but it must be done for obvious reasons , over the summer of 2024 I got my haircut at master clips in Bound Brook , New Jersey . from a barber that looks like drake yes the rapper upon him finishing he was paid and given a tip and I was in a bit of a rush that day but when I got in my car I noticed that my right eyebrow was cut at this point I was upset because if it was a mistake he could of told me , listen I cut your right eye brow by mistake right, he didn't show me the mirror upon completion thinking I was not going to notice , at this point he did not deserve the tip me being a barber and if I would have done that mistake I will have to admit the error ,so I brushed it off and just promised myself not to use that specific barber again , fast forward I recently go again and it was a disaster November 8, Friday I get my haircut and after I get home bathe and start to talk to my friend ,she told me what was wrong with my hair and I started to examen one side of the length on the sides , they were completely uneven and again I was upset same scenario person paid and given a tip I went personally and spoke with one of the brothers and he set up another appt on saturday I get my haircut done better this time but I was asked to pay and I was confused why would I have to pay again for someones else"s mistake and not given just credit for error , at this point I was using MC for at least five years I am going to wait for a response to see what happens ,I messaged thru messenger Business chat and so far have not gotten a response if I do not get a reply by this week for the charge , I will consider going somewhere else where barbers can admit their mistakes and not ask for additional monies IV read more

Made the online booking and got to Jonathans seat in 2 hours. Great service, great price and overall really felt cared for. Jonathan took the time to really understand what I was looking for in my cut, consistently asked me to check the mirror to see if its to my liking and kept the conversation going throughout. Most importantly, the shop has good safety protocol and every barber was wearing masks. Thanks for the cut, will be back. read more

I have been meaning to leave a review for a long time but after my haircut this past weekend, I put a reminder in my phone to actually do it finally. I have been coming to this barbershop for about two years now and what can I say except I absolutely love coming to this spot. I used to drive 20 minutes to get here and now that I moved, I drive 40 minutes to get here. These guys ALWAYS do a fantastic job and best of all they listen to you. I have sat with at least six of the barbers here and every single one of them does a really nice job. Their waiting area is quite big and at most I've waited here is 40 minutes. They have TVs on, WiFi, vending machines if you're hungry, everything to keep you entertained while you wait. When you enter, you put your name on the sign in sheet and write down which barbers you would like to see or you could leave it blank for any of them. To reiterate, you can't go wrong with any of these guys. What really pushed me to want to give this review was my haircut from this past weekend. I sat down with Edwin (who I've sat with many times before) and I told him about how the skin on the back of my neck is very easily agitated (ingrown hairs). I've been to other barber shops where you can tell them this and they'll just hack away at you as if they didn't hear you. Edwin took the extra time to be gentle with the back of my neck and I came off the chair with a fantastic fade, beard trim, beard shapeup, and eye brow touch up. I was so happy to feel the back of my neck and feel no agitation whatsoever. The pricing here is also EXTREMELY reasonable. The fact that you get high quality service for such an affordable price makes this my go to shop and I will keep coming back here for as long as I am able to. read more

Ever wonder what if Sweeney Todd was not skilled at all and was more of a Sweeney Juan. Well do I have the place for you. My friend and I desperate for a cut (not literally but I'll get to that) went to this place because it was 5 minutes from our job. We walk in and there are people waiting but barbers with empty chairs. As they begged us to sit like a crack head with an itchy hand. We risked it and set down in those two empty chairs. I'm done first and bleeding on the side of my face. After my cut I was like "Look at me! I'll go home and my kids will be scared of me." My boy asked for the simplest of fades and it took not one, not two, not 4, but 3 barbers to fix how uneven this fade was. It was like the first barber was trying to draw Penrose stairs on my friends head. This place is as dead to me as Alderaan. read more

No muss, no fuss barber shop with barbers that know how to cut hair. I like it here since the barbers are here to cut your hair and not to talk on their cellphones every 5 minutes like some other barbershops. There will be a wait plus it's an additional $5 for appointments but, I don't think I would ever need one - they're all adept at what they do. read more

I brought my teenage boys here based on the reviews and they are spot on. The shop is clean, the barbers are friendly, made my sons feel comfortable, they do the most precise cuts I've ever seen. They are masters with the straight razor! One of my boys chose a new style from a poster on the wall, the other wanted his to look just like his barbers, and they both came out perfect. Both boys said they prefer going here better than the salon stylist i was taking them to.
