Highlights:

If you are staying in the area Massimo Camia is a good choice for a visit, not far of a drive from Castello di Guarene, which I highly recommend for a Realix Chateau stay.
The restaurant is full of regulars from the area but as a first time guest we were made to feel welcome. Chef Massimo visits every table. My Italian is not very good, neither is his English, but we felt appreciated for our visit.
There is a 49 page wine list presented on an iPad focusing on the region. Prices are not cheap but fair with Gosset Brut Grand Reserve Champagne at 100 Euros, for example, during our December 2023 visit, and perhaps some better values on wines from Piedmonte. What I love about Italy is that wines in most places are priced closer to retail than in the US where wines are routinely markup up two to four times retail. That's why you see wine on almost every table in Italy while in the US people will drink iced tea or cocktails rather than spend $200 for a $50 bottle of wine. I digress. Pet peeve.
The food is available as a Chef's Menu around 120 Euros or A La Carte with plates from 25 - 30 Euros. A four glass wine pairing was available for only 60 Euros pp. The Egg with potato foam, foie gras and liquid fondue was very enjoyable as was the Tortello Pasta stuffed with pumpkin and anchovy cream.
We also enjoyed the Risotto with Jerusalem Artichoke and Roccaverano Cheese Fondue.
My partner did not love the Lamb Ribs Breaded and fried with Crispy Batter but I could see how some people would like it.
Our favorite dish was not even on the menu, a delicious Pannetone with Zabaglione from Moscato. I never loved Panetone because I always ate the ones in the US that were mass produced and probably sitting in boxes for a month. Some of the Pannetones we had in Piedmonte completely changed our appreciation for them, fresh, soft, juicy, delicious. read more
