I disclosed that I use tretinoin on my face, including the amount, that I had dermaplaned one week earlier, and that I wanted absolutely nothing abrasive, peeling, or exfoliating. I specifically requested a gentle, soothing and calming facial. During the facial, I was asked whether I was allergic to cucumber or papaya. A product was then applied that I was told would "eat away at the dead skin cells." I immediately reminded the esthetician that I had recently dermaplaned and could not have anything exfoliating. I was told that it wasn't a strong exfoliant. It began tingling and burning, and I had to ask for it to be removed. Later, an LED mask was placed over my face without anything covering my eyes, and I was left alone in the room for approximately ten minutes. My eye began burning while I was lying there. When the esthetician returned, I told her. When I mentioned my tretinoin again, she appeared surprised that I was using it. That was especially alarming because I had specifically disclosed it on my intake paperwork before the appointment. My facial was ultimately stopped, and I left with my face visibly red, irritated and burning. I have photographs documenting the reaction immediately afterward. I'm an esthetician myself, which is precisely why I was so careful about communicating my skin history and restrictions beforehand. I cannot understand the purpose of requiring detailed intake paperwork if the information isn't reviewed before treatment. There were other strange details that added to the experience. Upon arrival, I was required to place my belongings into one of the spa's tote bags. I was also offered what was described simply as a "bottle of water" and handed an aluminum bottle. Nothing indicated to me that the bottle was property of the spa or was a reusable vessel. Only when I was leaving, after I had already been drinking from it, was I told that both the tote and the water bottle had to be returned. Learning afterward that the bottle was reused immediately made me wonder about the cleaning and sanitizing procedure between clients. Had I known beforehand that I was drinking from a reusable spa bottle, I could have made an informed decision about whether I was comfortable using it. I paid nearly $300 today expecting a relaxing, gentle spa experience. Instead, I'm spending the evening of my trip in my room with a painful, burning face, unable to go to the dinner I had planned. I have emailed the owner directly with photographs and requested copies of my three completed intake forms, my treatment records, an itemized receipt, and the exact products that were used on my face. I also called afterward and left a message because knowing what was applied to my skin is important to me right now. I sincerely hope the owner responds and addresses what happened. If the situation is handled appropriately, I will update this review accordingly.

At my last massage she mentioned we were in a different room because she was doing a barefoot massage and the poles were best for her in that particular room. Of course I had to try it and it was wonderful. I did a 90 minute massage with about 1 hour Swedish and 30 minutes barefoot. The barefoot massage felt like a deep tissue massage but better, no not better but deeper and the coverage was more all at once. It's the only way I can describe it. When Erin hit my shoulders it was like the sweet spot, I made sure to let her know too, got some extra footsie up there I believe. I can't describe how good the barefoot massage was! It's not a massage I would have regularly but it will be a specialty I'll do ever so often. Love going to Massage Theory and having Erin as my massage therapist!

Buyer beware. They sold me a gift card, during their promotional period, and then a few months…read morelater... with no notice... shut their doors. They moved almost an hour away from me and expect me to drive an hour for their services. They tried to "make it right" by offering me CBD upgrade that has zero value to me and cost them next to nothing. The gift card has $390 on it and cost me $300 to get it. They told me gift cards are not refundable and they posted it on their walls. Why would they let me buy the gift card if they are going to shut down? if they didn't know... then why didn't they do the right thing by their customer that doesn't have easy access to their location? When they move locations... they are changing the terms in which i bought and intended to use the gift card. She let me know that if I would have just prepaid the service (which was never offered) instead of buying a gift card... that they refunded those. So what is the difference? It's just a way to screw over their customer. I would not give them a single penny and I never will again. I stopped in their office yesterday because it was a coincidence that I was in that area. I'm never out there and only was because I wanted to see Amelia island for my 1st time. She let on like I drove all the way out there just to ask about my gift card balance... which would be stupid considering we have phone calls. Any business that shuts their doors and then holds their customer hostage on a gift card he can't use without a huuuuuge inconvenience... is not a good business to support. They won't even make an exception when they changed the terms. I will be taking further action with this unless they fix the problem immediately. Please spend your money somewhere else unless you don't care about your own money. There are plenty of massage places to go to and don't fall for their gift card promotion scam either. Because if they decide to move to tallahassee... they won't let you know and then tell you they don't refund gift cards. So they get to keep your money. Horrible business model. Clearly does not care about their customers at all, despite the smile on their faces when you walk in. Just know... when they change the rules... it will always screw their customer over. Attorney General's office is currently looking into this for Consumer Protection.

I don't normally get facials since I have a regular skin care regimen that I follow thanks to my primary care physician and dermatologist, but I do go for facials once a year and twice if I feel like I need extra care or just to pamper myself. So far the times I have gone I get the one that is tailored for my skin (lotus signature facial for 60 min) I am able to mention problems I currently have and Leah gives great recommendations. I don't trust anyone else with my skin. She is so knowledgeable and always able to recommend creams and face care products according to my concerns. Before she applies anything she explains what it's for. The massage in between is always relaxing and I always manage to go to get a nap in. I have not had an issue thus far and always leave refreshed. I cannot speak for massages or any other face procedures since I try not to do much to my skin and just limit to maintaining my skin texture and hydrating it as well as using products that will help me age gracefully and heal acne scars from past outbreaks. I always follow up with dermatologist about once or twice a year as well to track how my skin is doing. I have recommended this place to my mom and bf and they both have received facials courtesy of me since I love to treat them to a nice facial yearly as well.
