After years of being in pain and neglecting myself, i decided to do a search for a local massage therapy company and start addressing some of the issues i was having. I couldn't be happier with the services i am receiving at Holden Hands. I am fortunate enough that i can get an appointment there about once a week and Jackie, my massage therapist, is very passionate and knowledgable about what she does. I never have to tell her where i am experiencing pain and discomfort, she just finds it and addresses it. She has used a number of techniques over the weeks to help me work out some of the issues i have and i leave there every week feeling renewed, relaxed, grateful and ready for another work week. If your looking for a place that specializes in "extra curricular activities" then move on, this isn't your place. If your looking for somewhere that is professional, clean, and really focuses on helping you feel better and gives you a quality experience, then i recommend giving them a call and setting something up. I cannot speak highly enough about Holden Hands Massage in Pawcatuck, CT. For several years, I have suffered with pain in my lower back due to slight scoliosis, hips due to arthritis, and myofascial pain in my neck and shoulders. I have been to physical therapy for these ailments on many occasions. Though it brought some relief, it was limited to the one area the script written by my rheumatologist specified. So, I just created a Yelp account for this review, because it was much needed! This was by FAR the best massage in the New London County area that I've had, and I've tried a lot of places. Jacqueline not only took her time working each problem area (and I have a lot of them) but also taught me a few things about what I should and should not be doing to improve my shoulders/back. Most massage places you go to feel like stopping at a gas station; you stop, fill-up, and take off. After multiple surgeries to my hip and core, massage therapy is the only way I can function on a day to day basis. That being said, I do not go to massage for relaxation but for targeted work to release muscles in my lower back, legs, and core. Jacki is truly gifted. I went to CCMT/Cortiva where she was trained and have had no less than 80 massages from 2012 until May 2019 when they closed. How would I find a great massage therapist ? Hands down, one of the very best massage therapists around. After my first pregnancy massage, I walked out of the office with a calm, relaxed energy, feeling lighter and standing a bit taller! I have been going to Jackie for eight months, and am amazed at how my migraines have lessened. Before starting massage with her I was having daily headaches and taking medication several times a week. I went to Jackie for a sports massage to ease the tension in my muscles caused by weightlifting. It ended up being one of the best massages I have ever received (and I usually get at least one massage a week).
