She has to talk the entire time or she falls asleep. The massage isn't good because she physically can't do it. Not clean, ants crawling on the floor, I'm 100000% sure none of the tools are even cleaned person to person as I saw 0 cleaning wipes or chemicals of any kind. She's a nice lady. But yikes. She fell asleep multiple times during MY massage. And didn't listen to my problem areas. She also did traction chiropractic on my NECK with 0 warning and no conversation prior. That is SOOOOOO beyond dangerous it isn't even funny. Thank goodness I'm going to my doctor in a couple days because anything she did to "relax" me was ruined by her messing up my neck...I even told her I have a bad neck......also she isn't going to care about your body privacy.... read more

Worst massage I have ever received. I would never recommend anyone go to this place, as Mary was incredibly unprofessional from the very beginning and made the entire experience very uncomfortable. My girlfriend and I came in for a couple's massage and we purchased the DELUXE package. She began by offering a lame little charcuterie board, and after we had picked a couple things off of it and they had just finished our foot massages, Mary decided she would have a little snack from it as well, picking from it right in front of us both without washing her hands. Her hands went from my foot, to the food, to her mouth. During the massage, she would not stop talking, and during the few times when it was quiet, her hands became still, so I imagine that she has to talk to keep herself awake. She lifted my body awkwardly and twisted me uncomfortably, to the point where I had to ask her to stop. She even asked me to hold an awkward position with one of my legs pointed at the ceiling. Keep in mind, we are nude, so my schlong is hanging about, like 5 feet in the air. She just tossed the towel over me. I was so incredibly unhappy at this point, but for some reason I chose to be polite and finish out the massage. During the aromatherapy she covered my mouth and nostrils, making it difficult to breathe. I also asked her to focus the massage on my shoulders and she did nothing but grope my thighs and butt for the large majority of the time. The other thing that bothered my partner about the upselling was that she mentioned weight loss benefits to some of the products/services several times, despite our weight not being an issue. Speaking of that, do not trust Mary's profile pictures either. I do not know how long ago it's from, but she does not look anything like that anymore, and let me tell you, it was jarring. Extremely unprofessional - the person at the front who checked me in was on a Zoom meeting which was loudly happening on speaker phone. Strike one. Then, during my massage, someone made food so that smell mixed with the aromatherapy smells. Strike two. Masks were either not worn correctly, or quickly pulled up when a customer was in sight. Extremely unprofessional and harmful- Mary was problematic (ie making unsolicited comments about my body, pushing services and doterra oils, making comments about wanting to "marry an African American man to have Oreo babies", and sharing traumatic/inappropriate stories that made it hard to relax). From the initial phone contact, there were red flags. Mary, who scheduled me, seemed distracted and unprofessional but I let it go as perhaps they were super busy during our call which I understand happens. I remember hoping I wouldn't get scheduled with her as the phone interaction was off-putting but unfortunately I ended up on her schedule as her availability was the only one that matched mine. When I arrived, Mary's mask was not worn properly. When she asked if I'd prefer her to wear it during the service, I said yes as I work with vulnerable populations but the mask remained worn improperly which was concerning as she was coughing a lot throughout the appointment. The mask was completely off when I we went back to the front desk to pay. Mary began the appointment oversharing about her life (including about her friend that had been kidnapped and worse... NOT trauma-informed whatsoever) and talking a lot which I wasn't interested in because I wanted to relax quietly but I engaged politely and tried to find areas of commonality between us to help the appointment feel more comfortable. At the start of the appointment she made an unsolicited comment about my body. She also continued to sample various oils and it felt as though she was pushing her doterra products to make a sale. She also promoted some other pseudo science that I was not interested in. When she was working on my feet, I wasn't quite sure what was going on. She would suddenly stop for a minute or more at a time- I wondered if she was falling asleep or distracted. Towards the end when I mentioned my partner, she asked me what race he was... and then proceeded to make the comment I mentioned in my first paragraph about "Oreo babies" which was weird and inappropriate. The actual massage was good but I could not relax due to the comments my masseuse continued to make. I did not feel safe enough to relax. The appointment concluded with Mary mentioning needing to leave for a Zoom meeting. It was a really uncomfortable experience and I'm still processing why Mary though this behavior was appropriate. read more

I have known Mary for over 20 years, and she is the only one I go to for massages. She is extremely intuitive, and has been instrumental in keeping my body functional over the years. She does great stretching work, as well as deep tissue and hot stone work. She is always very generous with her time and is a selfless caregiver, and has helped me through periods of injury and stiffness. As a practicing martial artist, I can't recommend her enough. As I have gotten older, I have gone to her more and more to stay functional and deal with the stresses of my life. I am really troubled by some of the recent reviews. I won't accuse anyone of dishonesty, but it seems that they have misread her in a dramatic way. She does talk, which I personally love, and we have become friends over the years. If you don't like that, ask to be massaged in silence! Has she overshared? Probably, but not as much as I have! (During COVID-19 protocols) I received a Groupon for a 60 minute sports massage here with Karen for a Christmas gift. Upon entering, I filled out a form noting illnesses/injuries, goals, etc. I marked that I have post-traumatic arthritis in my right ankle and had a broken bone in the same foot so to please be gentle in that area. The atmosphere was extremely calming, I almost fell asleep in the two minutes I was waiting after I undressed and got on the table! All employees (I only saw 2, including Karen) wore their masks at all times and offered me hand sanitizer on my way in. I was allowed to have my mask off for my massage, but I am sure whatever you are comfortable with they will work around the mask! The entire massage was amazing, Karen was awesome. Very friendly and reassuring! She was extra gentle with my right foot, but did not neglect it! She added a special oil to that ankle which made it feel amazing (without me even having to ask!) and suggested some oils and gels to use on my joints for pain relief. Whether you are interested in coming here by yourself or buying a massage as a gift, do it. Great place, friendly staff, overall wonderful. I bought a Groupon for me and gifted the other to my mom. The mom one went OK, though we had to call back due to her not getting a call back the first time to schedule. When I made my appt I asked for someone who does deep tissue. No mention of up charge. Then a day or two before my appt they tell me I need to pay extra $10 for deep tissue. As I was already planning on having to leave a tip, and I was using Groupon to save money, this was not cool, so I canceled. I asked if an exception can be made under the circumstances and give it to my mom since she likes gentle massage only, but they refused. Groupon has since added "gentle" to the description, yet tell me I should have read that before. Relaxing or gentle should be in the title because all other masseuses consider Swedish to be a type of deep tissue massage. Because Groupon power trips when it comes to offering a credit, and their robot customer service don't read your email concerns in full, I decided to try to work with this place. Groupon claims to have a satisfaction guarantee, but that is untrue. I have yet to hear back regarding making a new appt. The last time I asked was on 4/24, but I asked for a time prior to that via email and phone too. I had a decent rapport with the owner Mary before, so it's unfortunate how things turned out. I was forced to contact Groupon even though I really hated to. As expected, they are giving me a heck of a time even getting a credit (not even a refund, but a credit, one that expires!), being I can't seem to use my Groupon. I am disappointed all the way around about having to deal with not one, but two businesses that let me down. P.S. Yes it's true about the falling asleep and her sharing of personal info. I don't even know where to begin but let me tell you this has been the best decision I've ever made was going to Mary... She is so kind considerate and Actually cares about the well-being of her clients she's personable, professional and she makes you feel calm and relaxed and just centered by the time you leave.. My first visit to her I had a frozen shoulder socket which meant I was not able to lift my arm above 3 to 4 inches and I went in there and she worked her magic and when I say magic by the time I left my arm was almost at full reach above my head I continued to move my arm and did like she said to keep everything moving and going and my arm was back to normal in 35-48 hours later after not being able to move for almost a week.. I recently went on a search, via Groupon, to several massage companies in the local SW Portland area. My results varied as expected, but Mary at Massage On the Go was special. Mary is the proprietor and masseuse extraordinaire for several reasons. First, upon revealing a couple of tension spots to focus on, she delved into several questions that revealed some of the root causes of my maladies, making suggestions before moving on. I then was sequentially stretched in several leg and back movements I'd never experienced before. As someone who is degreed from UCLA in Psychobiology, my curiosity got the better of me, so more of my modality oriented questions followed. It felt quasi-massage and quasi-chiropractor rolled into a single 60 minute session. I booked a 90 minute session on the spot. Mary is truly educated in anatomy and the art of healing in ways I have never encountered. When you talk with her, you find out just how much she cares about her profession and those she works with. This is no massage factory. It's a place of uplifting purpose, guided by a wonderful woman with hands and techniques you will crave more of. I can't speak for her staff, but I gather from her penchant for perfection that hiring practices weed out those who can't make the grade. I asked to feel like Gumby and Gumby I got. Yesterday was my second session and my first of 90 minutes ever. What a difference that makes. I confidently booked out 3 months in advance for 90 minute sessions, prioritizing my budget to adjust accordingly. I think that says it all. BTW, if you like conversation while enjoying a massage, she's got quite the knack for banter, not to mention humor. If not, just tell her and you'll get what you ask for. Yelp naysayers sometimes fail to communicate their needs in advance for such a personalized service and then complain when things don't meet those very expectations. I just got another wonderful pain relieving hour with Shane ! Words are so inadequate to express the wonderful sensations of relaxation and pain relief...like floating on a cloud !! and after being barely able to get from my bed to the bathroom with a knife like sensations cutting through my spine forcing me to rely on my cane just to get out of bed without falling, it is difficult to adequately express my gratitude for Shane's extra wonderful skills today. Shane even made extra time for me today when someone else canceled. Shane Ritter, LMT and Mary Dalton, LMT used to be my secret dynamic duo ! (not so secret anymore though and appointments are getting more precious each week) I discovered them through Groupon more than 2 years ago and I've been seeing them at least twice a month ever since. Each of them has a unique style, but being able to experience each of them each month allows me to keep ahead of my very serious pain issues that continue to worsen 50 years after an experimental life saving spinal surgery that my MD had hoped would keep me pain free and functional for 20 years. Both Mary and Shane are frequently booked a month or more in advance, so in addition to my regular monthly appointments, I even keep my name on their cancellation list so that when someone else cancels, I get a call and am given the option of an extra appointment :-) :-) :-) :-) ;-) A word of caution: Their massages are not for wimps who want mere back rubs with lotion. Both Shane and Mary do excellent deep tissue and truly therapeutic work. Mary's aroma therapy is also wonderful. Real cozy clean linens and heated blankets await those who enjoy them or cool ones for folks like me who don't. Unlike some of the other reviewers, i actually had a pretty good experience with the customer service. They were very respectful and great to deal with. I bought a groupon a few days before scheduling my appointment which went smoothly. The only hiccup was that they called two days before my appointment to ask if I could push back the appointment 2 hours because the therapist had person issues to handle and was afraid they wouldn't make it back in time for the appointment which I thought was courteous of them and gave me enough time to adjust my plans. Once there, the front desk was very nice. I had Shawn who did a good job and you could tell he really knew what he was doing. The only downside was that there was a lot of talking going on, which I can imagine some people like, but I would have rather not. All together, the experience was fine, I got a good massage with relatively little stress involved. They have a decent operation going. But I would not be deterred by comments about poor customer service because I personally didn't experience bad service. read more

This was my first massage, so I don't really have anything to compare it to, but I had a wonderful experience with Karen as my masseuse. She was friendly and personable, but definitely didn't "share too much personal info," as one previous reviewer complained! I have mild pain in my neck, upper back, and hands, and she was not only great at pinpointing those areas to provide relief, but she also gave me some stretching tips afterwards that I can do at work to help relieve the pain daily. I appreciated that very much. The massage room was quiet, except for some nice instrumental background music, lightly fragrant, and clean. No complaints there. I subtracted one star because of some scheduling issues. I wanted to schedule by phone, and I had to call four times before I got a pickup. That is frustrating to me, and, honestly, if I didn't have a Groupon, I would have given up after the second call. After such a nice experience (and I still have $30 credit towards my next massage), though, I will definitely try them again. read more

My girlfriend bought me a Groupon and I thought it was going to be another bait and switch Groupon deal, but to my surprise, it was not. We had couples massages and then last year I was in a car accident. I had a pinched nerve that Mary told me about the the doctor missed and them was confirmed by an MRI. Mary's deep tissue massage as well as the hot stone one were fabulous!! Although I was originally there for the Swedish massage, she offered me to sample her deep tissue and hot stone massaging styles as a complimentary service. I could not be happier! Mary is very friendly. She's also talkative yet respectful and professional. I enjoyed both our conversation and the massage. However, if you prefer having a quiet massage session, she will be more than happy with the request. All you have to do is let her know. Maybe it was me, or maybe she was having a bad day, but sometimes you just have to fake it. The massage therapist was also very pushy and trying to sell hard. I came in with a neck full of headache producing knots and matching under my shoulder pain which she skillfully worked right out. Yep it was painful which is how I know it is working. I highly recommend you NOT go here! This is like a kind of skanky place without feng shui for sure, and no comforting atomosphere. I bought this in Groupon and what a mistake. I know what a massage and 'spa' experience should be like. I felt like it was going into a tatoo parlor. Weird creepy vibe, I agree with other reviewers. There was no comforting design, it is in a strip mall. I called to make an appt., then a sort of irritated woman called me at the end of their work day I think at least a day later. I never got a call back the 2nd time. Absolutely NO customer service skills! She sounded like I was bothering her. I should have known by that what the experience would be like. My mistake was I did not check out Yelp for reviews before ordering, i will give you that. My BF finally got in after he had to call. His massage "just ok" he said. Not a very nice place he said. So disappointed as this was a special Xmas Gift and he never gets to do things like this. I wanted it to be special. I went in and they said - they gave me the wrong coupon, it wasn't free for 30 min like they had given him when he left. So, now I was being charged for what was supposed to be free? I felt like it was one step short of Marge Simpson's sisters the ladies who were in charge. I asked for a chair massage - I was stuck out in the middle of a hall - tho a good gal worked on me. There was extra office equipment lying around, there was no ambiance. There were people coming and going in and out around me, a dog running back and forth at my feet, another lady came up during the massage, the owner I guess and starting rubbing my other shoulder - it was startling and unrequested! Mary Dalton is an excellent masseuse. I'm on a budget so I don't frequent much this industry but I had a pain in my back in 2010 that needed some attention. I didn't want to go to my doctor because he may have just prescribed muscle relaxers and I don't like taking them. In addition, chiropractors never make me feel better but worse. So, I started to call around for someone specializing in deep tissue massages. Mary was the only one that answered the phone that day. Her prices seemed reasonable, competitive but she has a reward system that earns you points or dollars when you spend money with her. I must say my appointment (only one) cured my back pain and the pain was gone. Today I went back to Mary because of now a lower back muscle pain due to a moving sale I had over the weekend, again, she was quick to get me in. The massage was very good, it certainly released some of the pain and tightening I had. Still too early to tell if it helped all the way, but it most definitely helped. I am able to bend over somewhat without strain or the sharp pains I was having. I would say I have severe back pain. Mary is also a kind of person who is generous. She gave me a mini facial with this machine that she threw in, which left my face smoother, and cleaner feeling. In fact, she is letting me borrow one before I buy one since it's a bigger investment like (290). She says she wants me to make sure I like it and will use it before making the investment. She also gave me two jugs of this water, it's called ionic water or something like that (kangan??water), it's suppose to detox, I think. Mary also said my tip was too much and gave it back to me..now who does that? So I cut it in a 1/3 and she took it. I love Mary and her services..I sure wish I could go all the time..I know I would feel better and probably look better. She is excellent at what she does. Also she is a nice person, her place is clean, and I usually hate talking to someone when I am getting a massage..I find her conversation extremely interesting, as I just listen. I got a "coupon" from one of those sites and went in for a massage. Leslie was the person that did my massage and she is unbelievable. I had problems with the muscles around my knee after extensive training for a half marathon. Leslie was both knowledgeable about the body and muscles as well as educated on healing and nutrition. After 2 appointments with Leslie my knee felt 100% normal and I was able to start running again. This injury had been ongoing for 8 weeks and I had seen a chiropractor and another masseuse and it didn't seem to help much. I would highly recommend Leslie and Massage on the Go. I am now a regular customer and enjoy getting my relaxing massages and well as the deep tissue massages when necessary. read more
