Bad rating because of the following but not because of the therapists. Go to Massage Envy in Silverdale but DO NOT SIGN ANY MEMBERSHIP CONTRACTS! Also DO NOT USE THE "TIPPY" app they have at the desk. If you like the service, give your massage therapist cash. It is so very unreasonably priced, they automatically post a charge higher than the service you received and they put your first name on it so that anyone who walks in can see it. That is a HIPPA violation! If you must use it, look for "other" and put in what you think the therapist deserves. They claim they are "healthcare professionals" but where else in the healthcare fields do "healthcare professionals" ask for a monetary tip? Reasons why I am forced to go to Massage Envy in Silverdale: The extremely deceptive membership contract and the inability to get out of the contract without losing a significant amount of money. LOTS OF BILLING ISSUES & HARD TO CANCEL/FREEZE MEMBERSHIPS Business: Massage Envy - Silverdale, WA Issue: Deceptive membership setup, unauthorized billing, refusal to cancel, and unprofessional conduct by the manager (Octavia) I signed up for a 6-month membership at Massage Envy Silverdale as a birthday gift for my husband. To keep it a surprise, the manager (Octavia) recommended putting it in my name and creating a "shared" account for him. I was told I'd be charged $85/month for mine and $20/month for his. (Trapping me into paying an extra $20, because i didnt need it. It was just for him. Only HE needed a membership.) Despite this, I was charged $85 for both accounts for several months. When I contacted Octavia, she claimed she didn't know why the account was set up that way, even though she was the one who created it. After pushing for answers, I was eventually refunded only part of the overcharges, but it took months. And I didn't get even half my money back. Once the 6month term ended, I expected the contract to stop (as I had been told it would, this I'm sure becausei specifically asked), but charges continued. I attempted to cancel, but was told I would lose all unused credits unless I kept paying (which is $500 worth that I already paid for). When I explained my financial hardship after losing my job, Octavia only offered to freeze the account, which meant I couldn't use any of the credits but would still be locked in. I asked for a cancellation form on 6/2/25 and was sent a freeze form instead. When I tried calling, there was no answer... for 2 weeks. Later, two $85 charges were withdrawn from my account again on 6/13/25 (despite expecting only one $85 and one $20). When I called, the manager today 6/16/25 Octavia answered saying, "Hello Danielle (this proves they have caller ID.. makes sense why she didnt answer when I called several times). Octavia dismissed my concerns and again claimed it was all "in the contract" which was never properly explained to me, nor in any of my paper work given to me. Throughout this experience, Octavia was dismissive, unsympathetic, and unwilling to resolve the issue. I was respectful and even emotional when explaining my situation, but I was met with cold, transactional responses. She ended our last call by hanging up without saying goodbye and never sent the correct cancellation paperwork. This has caused me significant financial stress. I believe I was misled into a setup designed to overcharge and trap customers in unclear contracts. I have filed with the Attorney Generals Office and the BBB. I will seek other avenues if they chose not to help make this right. read more

Rhonda( esthetician) gave me the most wonderful facial. I loved talking with her and my skin looks awesome. When I called to make the appointment, the receptionist seemed to try to hard sell me a membership ( which I hate ). Weird that they still make you wait in the car, text you and let you know when to come in. The " Quiet" room was indeed quiet, but wish the water features were working. My supervisor gave us 150$ massage gift card. Scheduler stated that gift cards do not apply to weekends. Four different times the front desk called to cancel minutes before my appointment. The fifth appointment scheduled was finally on time but even though they asked me three different times which areas on my body I wanted to focus on, those were not honored and I felt like my three year old granddaughter had more strength in her hands than the therapist. I went for a massage today. It was more like a back rub! The therapist did not touch my arms at all, upper leg above my knee, lower back or hips. I like to have a modest massage therapist but this was a bit extreme. I typically don't like a deep tissue massage. I am a bit of a wimp. But this was technically not even a massage. I had a massage with Jennie who was absolutely amazing. I had every intention of scheduling regular sessions with her but the front desk tried to get me to tip on a price $70 higher than what I was charged saying that's what the service was worth. I had scheduled online as a repeat customer so I have no idea where this price came from. Although I am a big supporter of tipping for services, being asked for $50 on a $150 massage is uncomfortable. I have had a terrible experience with my membership here. I have tried to use credits I've paid for on my account, but this location doesn't have sufficient appropriate massage therapists or appointments. I have tried pausing my account but I still got charged for that too. In a nut shell, think long and hard before you sign into a contract with this location. You will not be able to get what you have paid for, and when you try to get out, you will be trapped and robbed. It's a no win situation. This office never follows through with what they say. Office staff seems to not be compassionate nor do they seem like they don't want to be there. They don't seem to mind taking my money. This location refuses to give the vaccination status of the people who massage you. They are also not nice about it, very hostile. I have located another Massage Envy who has pleasant people working the phones and with permission of their employees, sets appointments with people who are vaccinated. The extra drive is worth it. Even before vaccinations were available, the Silverdale location had terrible attitude in management and the front desk. One gal who gave me massage was also bad with snotty attitude while another was very nice and also informed me she was vaccinated. There is NO WAY I would ever step foot in this facility again. Recently, a very rude man named Dustin M. frightened my elderly mother by leaving an alarming post about the Tacoma Mall. This was the only near-by Apple Store, and she was terrified she'd be shot by a gang member. There is nothing wrong with the mall. In fact, the reviews posted by Dustin M. are mostly negative and really, really weird. I looked to see if he'd hit businesses in my town. Well, he found the Massage Envy. So, I'll write an honest review. The location seems clean. The receptionists are pleasant. Unfortunately, I have only bought a gift card there. Still, they were accommodating and professional. If you are interested in getting a massage, I would recommend that you look into Massage Envy. Run far away from this place. The owners of this place do not care about their paying customers at all. My husband and I took advantage of one of their holiday promotions where we received free gift cards when we purchased nearly $4000 worth of gift cards in advance. However $400 in these gift cards could not be used because they had no availability for us to book appointments. I attempted six times to get a hold of someone with no response until after they expired only to tell me I could not use them. I offered to pre-pay for massages in the future and they said no. Even worse they canceled six massages on me last minute, I understand during Covid these things can happen. But they would not honor the gift cards to pay for six more massages after they expired. All massages were canceled on me at the last minute , Yet they still would not honor my gift cards. This place does not take care of their paying customers. As I said we attempted many times to discuss this with them. No one ever got back to us in over two months. I wish I never would've bought gift cards or join the membership here. I am having a hard time relaxing in the situation to get my massages. Do not join they do not take care of you. They will schedule and then cancel at the last minute on you, and then not provide services paid for!! Friendly staff. The massages are good, however you don't get what you pay for. A 90 minute massage is really 75 min at best, I have timed it using their clock on multiple occasions. Good luck getting scheduled, unless you have a random Monday or Wednesday at 9-11AM open. As others have said, it would be great to use the services that I have paid for. We have been customers at ME for many years, and this has been the worst. Even if you can schedule, they cancel on you at the last minute and then force you to reschedule to a date that is at least 2 months out. And the major reason they are getting a 1 star rating is because, if I want to stop paying the $60 a month (x2 for me and the wife), then I can't use the hours/services that I HAVE ALREADY PAID FOR! It is not our fault that during 2020 they refused to see us, but continued to charge us. Now they are holding our money hostage! These days we have couple massages with Dawn and Rose when we can. They are booked out by months so you have to be quick to get these wonderful ladies. This was my first visit to Massage Envy Spa. It was made possible with a $75 gift card that I 'splurged' on a 90-min full-body deep tissue massage. The Silverdale branch is spotless, well-kept and inviting. You will hear the typical New-Age-cum-Ambience-sleep-inducing music playing softly in the background. I was offered--and I accepted--a free warm neck wrap and cup of cold water within two minutes of my arrival. The decor is aesthetically pleasing and relaxing. I waited approximately 20 minutes after completing the usual paperwork before I was greeted by my massage therapist, Brianna. No big deal on the wait, to be honest, because the time did not count towards the massage. Brianna was professional and diligent to a fault. Her gentle hands and strong arms melted my muscle soreness away like a piece of soft caramel candy sitting in the midday sun. She let me dictate the flow of conversation and never once initiated any dialogue, which I greatly appreciated. I dislike idle chit-chat in any situation; keeping silent during the massage allowed me to enjoy every single stroke of Brianna's qualified hands. After the massage I was given some water to drink and Brianna wisely advised me to keep up with my fluid intake for the rest of the day. Like other reviewers, I was approached by the front desk staff and given the standard spiel on the benefits of membership. I understand that everyone has to start somewhere but the lack of knowledge by the massage therapist (and I say that loosely) was amateur level. I was very specific with the muscles (even naming them) that needed to be focused on. When it was over I was shocked at the ridiculous massage. I took brought my hubby in for a massage a few days ago, the massage was an hour long-no problem there, however; the experience wasn't what we hoped. the actual massage was great but my husband mentioned his massage therapist was "too interactive" & spoke through the entire hour, making it just as relaxing as a mall kiosk massage. Upon leaving we couldn't just check out without the front desk associates pushing their membership program which we declined over and over again, after 15 minutes of explaining why we didn't want to join we were finally able to leave. A few days later my husband is complaining of extreme back pain given he's not lifting anything, or doing anything different we're have been told this massage may have aggravated the muscles causing the immense amount of pain. I'm in the Navy, so I move around a bit and have been many different places for massage therapy. I would have said Massage Envy was A-OK and given it 3-stars. The massage itself was fine / okay, not the best I've experienced, but enjoyable nonetheless. I signed up for a "90 minute" massage. A "fine print" type of sign in the massage room explains the "90 minute" breakdown includes 5 minutes prep time, 80 minutes hands-on time, and 5 minutes for you to get dressed again. I was surprised how long I spent waiting for my masseuse. I filled out paperwork then waited a few minutes in the lobby. Then they escorted me to their "quiet room" with dim lights and soft music to wait a few more minutes for my masseuse. My appointment was for 9 a.m., and so my massage should have lasted until 10:25, but as I was getting dressed and reading the sign, I looked at my watch and noted it was 10:22. I didn't mark what time I went in to begin the massage, so I can't say for certain, but I question if I got the full time I paid for. The reason I dropped one star was because this is the first massage place I've been to that has put the full-court press on high-pressure sales tactics trying to get you to sign up for their club and to schedule your next appointment before you walk out the door. My wife and I decided to treat ourselves with a massage at Massage Envy Spa. We chose this place because of the very affordable $39 introductory 1-hour massage. At the end of the massage you're offered a 1-year, $59/month membership which includes a 1-hour massage every month. Every additional treatment is where you start to see a savings, but you would have to be able to afford the additional costs of each treatment. There's a pretty good push at the end of your first visit to get you to sign on for the year...I recommend you go home and see what fits in your budget before you commit. My impression of the place is like a chain restaurant. They put forth a mediocre attempt at providing a relaxing environment, but all it really contains is soft music and cool lighting. Compared to many other places I've been to, Massage Envy just doesn't make the grade when it comes to mood setting. The service received can be drastically different depending on which therapist you get. I was lucky to get someone who was very attentive to my requests. My wife on the other hand, felt that her masseuse lacked the kind of calming attention you would expect. Meh.. Me thinks not. If you are looking for a relaxing experience this is NOT the place for you. The saying is true "you get what you paid for". $39 for and introductory 40 minutes at best massage. The hr includes dress down and dressing up. Then up selling their membership like no tomorrow. I went beyond my better judgement and gave this place a try. I should've gone with my gut instinct. I knew not to expect a spectacular massage, maybe even an average- nope. Didn't happen. My mother is in town visiting, and she had a gift card to Massage Envy. I booked our appointment about two weeks ago, you need a credit card to hold the reservation. Very, very friendly staff..receptionist was very friendly and informative. We were taken back to a dim, relaxing waiting room where we went over what we wanted out of our massage...what areas need attention, etc. Our therapists were great. Very friendly and professional. Very relaxing 1 hour massage. At the end we were asked to join their membership program, but they were by no means pushy with it. If I had more time I would definitely look into joining the program, highly recommend! read more

So I only made an appointment because it was a military free event. I had the 60 min massage. I didn't like it that I had to wait in the front lobby for 10 mins until someone gave me paperwork to read, fill out, and sign. I could have got that when I first came in. Then I had to wait in a quite room, which was not so quite because the waterfall was loud. When I went into the massage room I did not know undressing and re dressing was apart of the massage time. I think that is a rip off. 60 min massage. Where in that phrase does it say undressing and redressing?! AND talking before and after the massage?! I know in the end, the people in the front desk as just trying to make a sale. The massage, however, was great! First time at this and I felt good afterwards. My skin felt so soft! read more

This is the fourth time that I have walked into Massage Envy. I am not a paying member, but I was told today this is only for members only day. The four times that I have walked in I've been in extreme pain and they have been able to fit me in If I Were a member otherwise I'll have to wait for a few days. This happened again today, that she could have gotten me in in an hour, if I were a member. I am sure that if I would have bought the membership, she would have worked me in. I appreciate business models. I appreciate entrepreneurship. I appreciate having rules and times that are specific for members only, but this reminds me more of one of those gyms that make you buy into something in order to have a Social Club of 20-somethings then it is to help people. I will never again go to a massage envy and try to get a massage. They are not in the business to help people. It's all about the money and selling memberships that lock somebody into something. I have stage 4 cancer and cannot put myself in a situation where I have to buy something that's going to last a year, or whatever it happens to be, if I I'm going to outlive my membership. I came here for a massage one morning. The front desk staff was incredibly friendly. They were attentive to what I wanted to get out of my experience and my preferences. They took me on a little tour of the place and it's pretty standard. I think they said they had 12 rooms and some of those rooms accommodate estheticians. Trevor did my massage and was great. He listened to the areas I wanted to focus on (mostly my lower back and neck) and did a great job working out the tension in those areas. The massage itself was pretty typical - 5 minutes to undress, 50 minute massage, 5 minutes to dress for a 60 minute time slot. Massage Envy does a membership program which can be a good deal. I come here for facials with Rhonda and she is wonderful. She has great hands and really knows her stuff! It's like she can "read" my skin and know exactly what it needs. I trust her and her recommendations and always look forward to my appointments. For my deep tissue massages, I was super happy with Kelsey. She was amazing! Then I got pregnant and things got weird. I couldn't see Kelsey anymore since she did not do prenatal massages which is fine. But then I got Barbara who was supposed to be an expert... it felt like she was stroking my skin and that was it! Got nothing out of it. Waiting now for my contract to expire. So you may get a great therapist or a really lack-luster one. Go with a recommendation! read more

I know when it comes to chain type massage places that it can be really hit or miss, and sometimes lacks that personal intimate feeling, but I have never felt this way while visiting the Silverdale location of Massage Envy.
