Mediocre massage! I have had much better. I literally felt I paid to have someone roll oil all over my body with no intent to massage. Also the front desk staff was too busy laughing with each other they missed serval opportunities to sell me on products I didn't realize were available until I was on my way out the door. if I could give no stars I would ... I have been to this massage envy before and multiple others and I would now NEVER return. Hands down the worst massage I have ever received, if you could call it that. Maria was not friendly and HAD A COLD, that's gross in general, but it's COVID times and I found it to be disgusting that someone who is now going to touch me is sick. She sniffled the entire time and who knows what else as I lay face down. Now to the massage itself, I essentially paid for her to press (not massage) oil onto my body. There was no technique, and shes seemed inexperienced massaging a plus size person. It felt as if she did not know what she was doing and that I was a burden being there. There was no communication during the entire "hour" (40 minute) massage. I had to request her to move on from my back area and towards my legs after what felt like more than half the massage was complete and I still felt as though my cat could have kneaded me better and I wouldn't have had to leave my home. I understand everyone has a bad day but when you are paying for a service that specializes in relaxation and self care, but walk out feeling the exact opposite you are doing something wrong. And is it me or do masseuses not greet you after you exit the room anymore or say goodbye at all? Don't they want a tip? So unprofessional and lack of customer service. Will never return. Lauren is a great massage therapist! I'm not sure if Ally is still there but definitely book in advance for her. I've had facials done with Anita and Mimi who are fantastic ! I've come here before and there would always be 3 girls or more at the front desk having their own private conversation about things that don't concern customers. The two times I have been lately it is only the manager and one front desk girl which makes things more professional and relaxing to be in before getting a service done. Tip#1 they don't have a couples room , so check out their lake grove location if you want to be in the same room with someone. Tip#2 always ask what room you will be in. Room #1 is literally right next to the waiting room so you will hear everything going on out there. Tip#3 always communicate with your therapist! It's a two way street , you can't assume they will know what you want or what you're comfortable with :) Enjoy ! read more

2nd time here, had a gift card to use and decided to get a 60 minute custom facial. The esthetician they matched me with was a woman named Lauren. She was super nice and very knowledgeable about skin care. I came for pure relaxation and that is the exact environment I got. The front counter service was also very friendly, the lobby - bathroom and treatment room were all well appointed and very clean. I wish I had more time and money (lol) to come back more often. Word of advice, if you are buying someone a gift card for a present and you add the tip. DON'T --- just give the masseuse a cash tip. Because Massage Envy stole the tip from the masseuse and then the management tried to tell us to give more in cash to supplement the masseuse. I feel terrible because Maria, my masseuse was supposed to get a $20 dollar tip from my gift card but only ended up with $10 added to her paycheck, so they probably even took taxes out. Maria was excellent. I was pretty appalled by the explanation I was given and then the push for us to give more money because Corp stole this girls tip. In short, I probably waited too long but I finally got to use my gift card with my friend that bought them for us in 2019. She paid $60 for the session then added what she thought was a cash tip to the gift card for a total of $80. Since the rate changed to $70 5 days ago for the session the company took that and only left the $10 for tip,,,,then the manager told us that it wasn't going to be cash it was going to be added to her check. I didn't bring any cash or my card for a tip because it was included in my gift,,,so,,,this sucks and I hate when companies treat their employees like this. read more

Massage is my 'thing' - I have had many in the course of the years.. esp in travel. One day I went here bc of the incentive of the first time customer special bc I had some back trouble and needed to relax. I was so thrilled with this place I ended up signing up for the year discounted price package where you get 1 massage a month. Every therapist I understand is very good. I have had 3 so far and I loved two soo much that I don't really want to try any others but them. I alternate btwn the two girls. If you like deep massage I highly recommended Deanna and Mimi. Very informative girls and they have helped me through terrible migraines. Staff is very friendly and they call to keep you on track with your appointments when made in advance. Only draw back is if you mess up your appointment they still charge you a fee. :( read more

Massage was fine, but the tactics they use to get you to become a member ruin any relaxation you might feel. They also seem to take advantage of members who do not use all their sessions in the required time...if you don't "re-up" you lose the sessions. It is a bit of a scam. read more

I got a gift card to this place and was very excited to make use of it, saved it until I had a relaxing afternoon to go for my half-hour massage. Judge me all you want, but when asked on the phone I said I'd prefer a woman masseuse. I got there, signed in and who comes out to get me? A dude. Okay, I thought, let me not be biased. I went in. The massage was not relaxing at all. The guy was a bit too rough and seemed to be rushing through it. I could feel his hot breath on me at one point. Too close. Anyway, walked out of there more annoyed than relaxed. I will put it down to one bad experience, but don't feel like going back. read more

I came here on my birthday after a long stressful week at work hoping to relax a little. I think I was more relaxed walking in than out. My masseuse was terrible, it was like a massage in fast forward. Fast frantic rubbing that felt without any sort of technique or finesse. I honestly felt like he was just some dude that thought he could make some money from massaging and gave it a try with no experience or knowledge. A couple times I thought to myself "what is happening?" He did not listen when I specifically mentioned which areas I was not comfortable massaging, and then he went to that area and I kindly asked him if he could please not be in that area he gave this huff of annoyance. The pressure at time was VERY firm to the point when I let out an audible ow but he did not seem to feel the need to adjust. It was just weird! I can't believe I paid all that money to leave worse than when I came in. The entire thing was odd, uncomfortable and stressful. I could not get out of there fast enough. read more

I had a wonderful massage with Cheryl today, concentrating on my upper body/back. The staff was friendly and not overbearing. One dollar per minute for massage regardless of how long you request. Scheduling is very difficult and quite limited. The evaluation process is approximately 5 minutes and is very hurried, so if you have some sort of injury or health concern do not go here. A 60 minute massage is actually 50 minutes, and you also pay a dollar a minute for preparing yourself for the massage as well as getting dressed following the massage. One reviewer on Yelp said they bring you a cup of water following your session but that never happened for me. The office staff tries hard to be very nice but there was a lot of confusion and unprofessionalism. The actual massage was nothing to rave about, and in the future I will go elsewhere. read more

Had a pregnancy massage in the Commack location for the first time, worst experience. My massage therapist brought me to the room didn't give me any direction and left the room so i figured I'd just undress and lay on the table. There was a cushion for me to comfort my stomach which was great but the head rest was about a foot below it, I asked if it could be raised and she said no, so I asked her what I should do with my head and she wasn't sure(seemed like it was her first prenatal massage) so I suggested if she had sheets I could roll up I guess I'd use that so that's what she did.. should've just walked out then. The room was freezing, the oils were freezing, I'm not sure if it's because they don't use any heat on the table for pregnant patients but maybe the room should be warmer then or something. To top it off the therapist wore a hoodie sweatshirt with a zipper that dragged across my body during the entire massage. I left the massage so confused over the whole experience I didn't even know what to say, along with a huge migraine probably due to my head basically hanging off the front of the table for the entire massage. I called my husband when I left and asked him if this birthday pregnancy massage was a prank. So disappointed. Of course now I have another gift card that I don't even want to use but hoping another location will have better service? read more

They do not accommodate as a massage parlor should. I got a migraine hours after having a massage there. I realized that it was because the head cradle was craned too far down. I called them up, and said that I'd like to keep the same masseuse, but someone else needs to come and check the head cradle height before we begin the session next time. They said they wouldn't be able to do that. What?! What am I supposed to do, risk another migraine?! I switched to a different Massage Envy location right then and there, and the place is great. Worst place ever trying to make an appointment is impossible and when you finally do it's just ok..

this fabulous place just opened up several weeks ago, and i in fact have been awaiting the grand opening ever since i caught sight of the sign driving by...for tucked in between a pharmacy and staples is a small piece of heaven on earth. now i am not a massage-connoisseur but i have had over a dozen in my life and never twice at the same place, for a variety of reasons actually. but i LOVE massages. so knowing that here is my take on massage envy: the place is professional, all very clean and deep-purples and creams. all the front staff were friendly and the questionaire you fill out at the start of the visit made me feel like they really have my health in mind - like at a doctor's office - as if they were keying into my real points of stress and reasons for being there today to customize my massage. my personal massage therapist was also friendly and let me know what she planned before she left for me to get under the covers. she was warm but didn't take up time talking which is nice. the table was not only soft with pillows etc. but heated - i started relaxing before a hand was even laid on me... note: there was the usual soft/pleasant music but no candles or scents - i find these to sometimes be overpowering and so appreciated the lack of them. i think the sheets or maybe the lotions had a slight, nice scent but it wasn't overwhelming. the massage itself was perfect. she was careful of my "tough" spots and asked if she was going to so anything more out of the ordinary first in case i didn't want to try it - like 'neck-pulls' which by the way were cool...the pressure was good to start with and she timed everything very well so nothing was missed. i really would ask for here again if i go back. now here is one of the really cool parts - you can become a member and get a discounted massage every month! i've never before found a place that offered such a thing. it would still be a luxury for me in terms of monthly cost but i am actually considering. the membership also offers you a discount for additional massages and if you bring family/friends. very cool. finally, their hours are fantastic - lots of nights, and i mean late, until 10:00 or later some days, and weekends, even sunday! they really are out to help fit a massage into your (!) life and lifestyle...and at least for me the benefit of being close to home is great, up until now with the prices involved i would most likely travel some good distance/even to the city for a good massage but now i don't have to and that makes a wonderful difference! so there you have it. why i am a believer in massage envy. i would definitely recommend this place as a lovely soft-spot to add to your life. *smiles* read more

I was a member with Massage Envy Commack for 8 years. When I first joined, I had my favorite therapists and my husband and I would schedule a monthly massage. In the past 3 years, the turnover has been horrible. If I wanted a massage I had to call a month in advance. They rushed you in and out and cut out the nice things like hot towels. On 2 occasions, Fathers day and our anniversary, we had treatments scheduled where one of the therapists called in sick. They cancelled my husbands appointment but expected me to show up. We started traveling to Lake Grove and Plainview just to get appointments. After the last cancellation (we received the phone call 2 hours before) We contacted management and were told 'Sorry'. We cancelled our membership and I would not recommend. There are plenty of places that offer great services. read more

I should have listened to my friends, who warned me not to go here. The whole process of just making and confirming the appointment was stressful! The opposite of what the experience should be. First, they called to confirm with the wrong appointment time. I finally got that straightened out but it definitely added to my stress. I asked the man on the phone what a typical gratuity was, and he told me $25 to $45 per massage. That sounded like a lot since the massage itself cost $90. So when I looked online every site, including Massage Envy's, suggests 10% to 15%, even 20% depending on how good your massage was. ME Commack's front desk would have me leave a 50% tip! How can they realistically say that to a customer? I'm glad I looked online for the facts. It's okay when you get there and my appointment started on time, but the room was really bland. The room I was in had a huge drywall patch on the wall like it was under construction. The worst part was the room was cold! Like really cold. It was a 52 degree day outside and there was no heat on inside. I asked a few times if they could make it warmer but I was told they can't control the temperature in the room, and the front desk said, "they don't want us to turn the heat on yet." While my masseur was nice enough, it didn't really seem like he knew what he was doing. Plus, he was breathing so loudly during the massage that I couldn't really focus on relaxing -- all I could hear was his breathing, and occasionally the girls at the front desk giggling and gossiping. The cold was the big thing. It was so uncomfortable. My masseur felt bad and got another blanket, but could tell I was still cold because my fingers and toes were cold and I had goosebumps all over. He over compensated by "tucking me in" but he kept jabbing me with his fingertips and pinching my skin as he forced the blankets around and under me. The whole experience at ME Commack was just disappointing and stressful. From making the appointment, to the inexperienced masseur and his noisy breathing, to the freezing cold room and being told they just can't put on the heat yet, it doesn't seem that ME Commack has their customers in mind. I certainly didn't feel relaxed and was actually glad when it was over. I don't recommend this business. I should have listened to my friends. Oh well. read more

I originally was given a gift certificate for a massage and after being pressured by the sales force agreed to a yearly membership. DON'T DO IT!!!! Each month $59.99 is deducted from your bank account or charged to your credit card, which ever you agree to. This yearly membership entitles you to a monthly massage. However when you make an appointment they don't have time available. So each month your montly massage rolls over to the next month. Also the yearly membership does not end at the end of the year. You have to sign a form requesting 60 days in advance to end the membership. Then when you sign the form the sales force informs you that any massage(s) you have left must be used by the end of the following month (60 days) but then when you ask to schedule a massage, they don't have anyone available to give you a massage. On top of that..... you don't have two months (60 days) to use the massages you have left, you have 60 days from when ever you signed the form. So if you sign the form on the 10th of the month, you only have until the 10th of the following month. But the sales force tells you have until the end of the following month. Do you see how they manipulate people!!!! DO YOURSELF A FAVOR!!! DON'T JOIN MASSAGE ENVY!!! THESE BUSINESS PRACTICES WILL BE SHUT DOWN BY THE NY ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE SOON!!!!! Yes, the 60 minute is actually 50 minutes hands on service but this is also stated on website so not a surprise. The booking was super easy- I used the website. Donna was superb, she focused on the areas I told her I needed the most attention. I will likely go back. I did not purchase a membership but may do so in the future after I try out a facial. Granted, I haven't been there for some time but the times I had, I enjoyed the time spent with Amy, Michelle, and Raven respectively. Michelle in particular was an A+ experience; great hands, warm, and even offered to include some reiki techniques, which I was open to and which was phenomenal! The lobby was nice as well. read more

I took me a LONG time to find a massage therapist that I actually think is good. I tried about 10 of their massage therapists, and most of them were average at best. I get the feeling they have one hour of training and are set to work right after that. I find it very annoying that an hour massage is often cut down to 42 or 45 minutes. I now found one massage therapist there that I like, but when I complete my massages I'm discontinuing my contract. read more

I've been a member here for about three years. Although I don't live in the area, I work nearby and it is convenient for me to go to this location. I experimented around when I first joined and hit on a therapist that I do like. You do have to make your bookings in advance to insure that you get the therapist and time you need. I make my appointments about a month in advance. Using the therapist I do, I am completely satisfied. Place is clean, and she never "shorts" me time, as has happened with other therapists. One Achilles heel to this place is the staff at the front. I've had the experience of coming for my appointment, and finding out that it was not booked. This hasn't happened lately because they now have an automated system to verify appointments. Their main problem is a HUGE turn over on front desk staff. I rarely see the same faces from month to month. They always seem to in "training", and therefore mistakes can be made. I would recommend this place, but watch your time on massages, make sure you get your full 50 minutes, experiment with different therapists, and make your appointments well in advance if possible. read more
