I never do this- I really don't want to do this, but I wanna make sure other people see this. This is long, but I cannot make this stuff up, you have to see this before purchasing any service from massage odyssey in finneytown. For a little background; every single time I have ever dealt with this place, getting in touch with them is seriously impossible, I've called multiple different days and times, previously have sent emails trying to schedule, with no response... even left a voicemail saying "if you ever decide to check your voicemail please give me a call back but against our better judgement we decided to give them one last chance, bc tbh once you get there, generally the quality of the massage is good except you don't get a full hour or "50 minute hands on" as they would like to say (but then somehow it's 45 because you have to undress). I got 40 minutes each time not even realizing it until I was on my home and already purchased my next massage. My friend and I had bought 2 hot stone massages, as the appointment on 7/14 approached, I had a family thing come up and I couldn't make my appointment. All I wanted to do was call and reschedule. With my past experiences, I decided to do a little experiment. I was going to call basically as many times as possible to see what time was a good time for them to answer the phone. I literally was able to call 66 within the time of opening until 5 pm without an answer. I decided not waste my time by sending an email, when I know I could for sure get resolution by talking to someone in person. By the time I got there I realized how messed up this was. So I wanted to cancel and get a refund. After going back and forth for like 20 minutes with her about how long the massage is and about their means of communication, I told her I wanted a full refund and didn't want to leave before I got it. At this point, she told me that I would have to leave my number, and I would get a call back after she spoke with her other manager. I asked her if I would actually receive a call back and she responded "no need to be facetious" when I was asking an honest question. I left my name, number and wrote "FULL REFUND" so she wouldn't forget. I then dropped the post-it and the pen on her level of her desk when she stood up, said " no, don't even start, bye" I was so angry I just said "bye bitch" and walked away, considering I hadn't cursed one time during this conversation I gave myself that. As I was walking out she said "I WILL F*** YOU UP". I can't believe what's happening and can't believe it got to this point. What kind of business are they running here? I left and went home, anxiously awaiting my call. Still nothing by the way. Told my friend about this horrid encounter, and she went up to cancel hers. I'm not going to get into her story because I wasn't there when it happened, but I found out Tisha told her I was throwing pens at her (wow I am such an animal I guess haha) (this time I'm being facetious) All I want is my refund, it's pretty simple. TLDR: don't spend your money here, go somewhere that actually respects their customers, and gives you your full hour. I had two good experiences there TEN YEARS AGO, but now that I've PAID for as Memorial Day special, I cannot reach anyone to book an appointment for the end of this Month or early next Month. When trying to book online, as they recommend, there are NO appointments available outside of my work hours, going through September, but their system won't book more than two months, per a pop up box. I believe the owner replied to me via text, and said she'd see what's available. That was two days ago, still no response. I call their 513 phone number & voice mail is full, I call the 859 number they advise you to on their answering machine, and get no reply. I get no reply from a chat message to their web site, or their email. Hmm. sounds like I wasted a lot of money. read more

I used a Groupon to go to this spot. I had Ebony, who was great. I was very comfortable and she did an excellent job with the massage. I left relaxed and had just the right pressure applied. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The space is cozy and relaxing with aromatherapy candles and diffusers all over that helped me feel relaxed. Setting up the appointment was quick and easy. They are located behind a car wash so it wasn't easy to spot, even though there is a sign on Winton Ave but I missed it when I was looking for it. I got the relaxation massage and was asked what pressure I wanted. I wanted deep so it was a $10 upcharge. I also wanted the therapist to focus on my back, not so much my legs and arms. Doing that was considered a specialty massage with a $25 up charge. I opted not to keep racking up the cost. The lotion felt nice and smelled like a mix of mango and citrus. The therapist's hands were warm. I wish she didn't have long, manicured nails so that she could have used her fingers to get in around my shoulder blades, which I told her was the reason I came in. There is a hair salon next door that shares a wall, so it got loud at times with the hair salon customers talking and laughing. The therapist was very apologetic and offered a make-up massage because the noise definitely made it hard to relax and I appreciate the consideration. Overall, I was glad I tried it and would return but will remember to ask for someone that can use their fingers to dig deep into my sore muscles. read more

I called to see if they had any specials and was advised there was a Father's Day special going on for $37 for an hour massage. I purchased that and added the aroma therapy for $8. I was asked if I wanted to prepay for my service, which I opted to do. My massage was with Jennifer who asked if there were any specific areas she should focus her massage on. I advised her of the area on the right of my back that was bothering me. She did an AMAZING job of working the specific area that was bothering me. She focused on my back as I requested. I've had two massages now at Massage Odyssey. One was a couple years ago and this one and both of them were great, so I would say they have good massage therapists here. Let me start off by saying I had a great massage. My massage therapist, Jen, really listened to my requests and focused on the areas that needed the most relief. There were some points in my 60-minute Swedish massage where I drifted off into a tropical vacation trance and felt completely relaxed. Why the 3-stars then, you ask? First, the building does not create the most inviting/relaxing environment. It looks mostly like an office building tucked back between a restaurant and an auto body shop. Second, my 60-minute massage turned out to be only 50 minutes long. Yikes! I paid for 60, I don't want to get cut short. Lastly, I paid an additional amount ($8.00) for aromatherapy. It wasn't described to me what that would entail, but I assumed it would consist of multiple essential oils being applied therapeutically to my pressure points. Turns out I was way wrong. Aromatherapy, according to Massage Odyssey, is merely scented lotion. I didn't ask, but if I didn't pay the $8.00, would my lotion have been unscented? The woman at the front desk was kind enough to give me 50% off my aromatherapy, taking it down to $4.00. I still gave above 15% gratuity to Jen, as she deserved it. I have gone to Erikah three times and every time it feels like magic. My worries just melt away-she is a fantastic, strong and intuitive professional. She has great technique, and is powerful when need be. Sure, there might not be a fancy waiting room or spa amenities, but Erikah gives the best massages I have ever had, in Cincinnati, Chicago, DC or Europe. My mind is able to relax and trust the experience rather than worry about whether or not I'm receiving enough pressure or if the body massage will be thorough enough. It's always exactly what I need. The price is more than reasonable, and returning customers can purchase a one hour, full body massage for $35, which keeps me coming back. read more

Honestly, when I showed up, I was a little wary because the building looks a bit shady. However, when I went inside, I was pleased to find a clean, relaxing space that featured a fish tank (another review said it was dirty-- today it was not-- it looked nice) and a comfortable waiting room. The receptionist was very friendly, knowledgeable and ensured that I was quick to fill out the paperwork. The paperwork was only one page and very straight forward. My massage therapist was Erica and she came out very quickly and took me to a nice, clean, dim room that had relaxing, instrumental music playing. Erica was nice and friendly and we related over being band geeks in the past. The massage itself was wonderful and I even felt confident enough to tell her to use more pressure on my constantly sore trapezius muscles. She didn't talk too much throughout the massage, which I appreciated. It was a good mix of swedish and deep tissue massage. I practically fell asleep during the massage and it went by very quickly. My only complaint is that I paid for a 1 hour massage and it was about 50 minutes because of filling out the paperwork. However, next time I will make sure to show up 10-15 minutes early to avoid this. I tipped Erica $10, but I wish I had done more because she was great. On my way out, they told me that I could pay $35 to book another massage, saving around $20. I was planning to book another anyway (I've been meaning to start getting one or so a month for awhile because of my shoulders/traps) and this convinced me. Disclaimer: I realize my experience is limited to the one masseuse I had the one time I visitied. Although, everyone I spoke to on staff was very friendly and courteous, the massage I received was nothing to recommend to anyone. I prefer medium pressure. After the masseuse established the level of deep tissue massage I like, she did the entire massage as Swedish (light penetration). I also specifically told her where my troubled areas were, thinking/hoping she would concentrate the majority of the time in those places. Instead, she gave me the most generic, lacking luster massage possible. I just want my money back since they have failed to provide the service that I had paid for (it was a promotional offer that I purchased after my massage). It takes quite a lot to get 5 stars out of me. I have been here twice. I'm glad I read the reviews first, so I didn't have any trouble finding the correct driveway. The sign is a little light-colored, but is definitely there. I have had massages from Shay and Erica, and both were wonderful. They gave me the pressure I wanted. Erica didn't ask if the pressure was OK, but I know she would have adjusted it if I had needed to ask her to. Their techniques were different, but both were very effective at relaxing me. They, as well as the receptionist, are friendly. Neither one talked during the massage, except in response to things I said. For the person who complained about getting only 50 minutes, that is standard. You get 5 minutes to undress, then 5 minutes to "recover" and dress. They now have a sign in the waiting room explaining this, so there shouldn't be further complaints. I definitely recommend this business, both for their work and their prices. Return visits are $35 if you pay in advance (which might be the lowest rate in town), and now they are having a 3-for-$99 special, which I took advantage of. read more

My sister purchased a massage and facial for myself and my mother as a Mother's Day/birthday gift. My mother suffers from multiple sclerosis and has very limited mobility. I was very nervous about coming but we called before buying and the receptionist, who was super friendly, assured us that they would be to accommodate my mother. Upon arrival I could already see it was going to be tough to get my mom, who uses a scooter, into the building. There's no wheelchair ramp or dip in the sidewalk! Fortunately, two men came out to help and I was so thankful to them. From there our experience was nothing short of wonderful. I started out with a full body, deep tissue massage while my mom got a facial. They made sure we were both comfortable which was important for my mom. The services were great end they were even nice enough to give us a sample of the oils they used during our facial. I made an appt, got a babysitter and started driving to my massage. Got a phone call that it was cancelled. I asked for someone else to do it instead and she says she was the only one in that day. She said she would call to reschedule, that didn't happen. I waited a week and called back and was told the person who was doing my massage quit and they would have to call me back to schedule, I waited a week and nothing. I called again and told them a day and time that would work and she said she would make it work and would let me know and I still didn't hear back. I had purchased a Groupon. changing/rescheduling my exisiting appointment was difficult as I was not able to get hold of any one besides their answering machine service. Finally, I got hold of someone who was able to help me out. Finding the place can be tricky since it's tucked behind Donatos and sign is not really visible. Customer service is awesome and friendly. They have fair pricing and deals going on for the massage package. my massage was however not good. my neck and back muscles are completely sore 12 hours after massage. I had to end up taking Tylenol OTC for the soreness.There was no checking on me during the massage to see how I was tolerating the pressure. I have had massages before but I have not felt soreness or pain afterwards. I am not sure if I want to comeback or recommend this place after my experience today. read more

My lady was kind enough to book a massage. She paid for it online. It was a special promotion they were offering. Facial and massage for a pair at $90. The challenge? She was unable to get a human on the phone, unable to book online, and everything that she tried led to dead ends. She asked me to go to the establishment to talk to someone in person. I went to the front door and there was a sign on the front door likely because everyone had the same difficulty booking an appointment. Please don't knock on the door. Please don't call. Respect the time that you book and leave us alone was basically what was on the door. When we were able to finally reach the owner named Tish, she challenged us on the phone and indicated that there would be no refunds. We asked for a time when the special could be granted. Tish didn't have an answer. She had a very bad attitude. Yes, she did refund the money. However, I want to make sure that everyone knows that you cannot trust the promotions offered by this place. This place is a complete joke -the owners have no idea how to run a business! I got a groupon and had a tough time booking on their website as they demand you do! The first appointment I made 2 weeks in advance for my mom who was visiting from out of town - the night before, the owner called and said they could only do the massage not the facial as the appointment I scheduled should have included - that was over 6 months ago, still waiting for them to answer the phone or update their online system to get that facial. The second time, I scheduled appointments for my dad and husband - I requested female massage therapists, when we arrived NO ONE WAS THERE!!! Their appointments were at 1pm and the place wasn't even open!!! We waited for nearly 15 minutes and finally the owners arrived... they first LIED and said we didn't have appointments and then after several minutes said they "found them" but then proceeded to try and give them both one male - so one would be waiting until the other finished to get a massage and it was a male when I requested a female. They declined the service clearly! I'm still awaiting my refund. I've contacted my bank but too much time had passed so I must go through this company! They are no longer answering the phones, opening up their business nor returning phones! I've been calling for 3 month now THREE MONTHS with no response! I've gone to the location 6 times during their "business hours" and they are never open!!! My parents referred me to this place after hearing about it on Groupon. They had a great experience so I had to try it. My massage was fantastic. The woman at the front, Karen, is responsive and even has phone calls forwarded to her house during off peak hours. She is organized and courteous. My massage therapist (I think it was Kialah) was professional. She spoke to me in the beginning to gauge the proper pressure. This massage was FAR better than anything at Massage Envy (which is a rip off) and the price is right. I really hope they keep their prices low because it allows me to get massages more frequently. I purchased two gift certificates ($30/hour) and hope to give them out this xmas. Definitely go try this place out yourself! read more

I hate it when a massage therapist wants to talk the whole time, and the only time she talked was to make sure the pressure was good. Massages are pretty good, but good luck getting an appointment! I prepaid for 12 last Christmas (one a month) and have only been able to get in 3 or 4 times now in 10 months. Every time I call to schedule they don't have any openings for 4 to 6 weeks then what they do have is during the day which doesn't work very well if you have a job. They need to expand their hours to include appointments after 5pm (currently they do not offer ANY evening appts) and they need more Saturday hours. Either hire more therapists or quit pre-selling more massages than you can accommodate!!! I'm concerned they are going to go out of business before I can use what I purchased last year!!! All of the staff were very welcoming and did a fine job- Shay the masseuse was great- the two stars came down to a few different elements. I arrived 20 minutes early- filled out paperwork, and told the receptionist I would like to add the deep heat treatment, aromatherapy and the sugar foot scrub - ($8 ea). Save your money!! The deep heat was heated towels - not stones, which lost their warmth very quickly and left the skin cold with the fan in the room blowing. The aromatherapy was some sort of humidifier with (I'm assuming) a few drops of lavender added. No oils were used on my skin or any other part of the treatment. The sugar scrub was a very light scrub... With very little actual scrub. Aside from this - my massage began 17 minutes after my appointment was supposed to be- I was seated in a room with a sad and dirty aquarium - no music nor comfortable chairs until quarter after then led to a room. They apologized saying it took them the extra time to set up the "extras" ---seriously? A towel warmer, a tin of scrub and a humidifier? Anyway- the massage actually began at 18 after and ended on the hour! The groupon I paid for was a 60 minute massage and 55 minute facial. I got a 45 minute massage and half hour facial where the aesthetician left the room 3 times. It was awkward. This place has terrible business practices. My daughter had purchased a Groupon for me (and one for herself) for Mother's Day 2017. I have yet to be able to get in and get my massage. Every time I call, I get no answer and I can't leave a message for a call back because their voice mailbox is full. The one appointment that I was able to make for October was cancelled by them because of them not being available and I haven't been able to make an appointment since. A friend and I visited Massage Odyssey after purchasing a Groupon. The deal was a 55 minute massage for $27, which is a great price. The building is nice inside, but very hard to find. It's located behind Car-X. The receptionist is nice and informative. The massage in itself was nice, it was my first time, so next time I'll do things differently. There will be a next time though, apparently they run Groupons frequently, and it was an enjoyable experience that for that price, I'd try again. read more

I saw Ed who was a soft spoken guy and let his hand do most of the talking. I got a deep tissue massage and could not be more satisfied. The business is in a weird place behind a tire shop and from the outside is not impressive at all. Once you go inside the receptionist was warm and welcoming and it started to feel like a spa. It smelled good and the decor was conducive to relaxation. I filled out one short form and was taken back to my room soon thereafter. This was key as I used my lunch break for my appointment. My paperwork was reviewed and I was given a much needed much overdue massage. Ed focused on my key areas and was able to provide some insight when I inquired. After it was over he provided some basic instruction for staying hydrated and I was able to pay. This is a high end spa with low end prices and none of the fluff. The therapists here are EXTREMELY professional. If you want a deep tissue, try out Ed. There are a few prenatal therapists here with my favorite being Jen. Kelsy, Erica, Nikki and the rest are all fantastic. They ask you what you're looking for prior to starting your session and adjust accordingly. They don't talk while giving you a massage and don't pressure you at the end by asking for a tip. Every time I've gone, I've tipped at least $10 (which I think should be the bare minimum). I've seen others give $5, which I think is totally inappropriate. I took advantage of a Groupon deal that was offered and decided to give it a shot. It was a little tricky finding the place at first. I accidentally drove right past it, but I eventually found it. This was my first ever professional massage and it definitely won't be my last. Ebony was was my masseuse and I highly recommend her! She was very sweet and attentive to my trouble areas. I can't believe I wasted my money on this place. I bought two Groupons ($124), one for my mom for Mother's Day and one for myself. When we called to make an appointment, they weren't able to see us until September! Okay, maybe they're just overwhelmed and busy. However, we have yet to receive our massages and it's nearing the end of October. They've canceled on the both of us several times. I called and finally got ahold of someone (no one ever answers and their voicemail is full) and she "rescheduled" me for the following week at the same time. When it got to be the day of my appointment, I called to verify because I never received a confirmation email or text. Whoever "rescheduled" me, forgot to put my appointment in the system! I gave them the benefit of the doubt because that's just the type of person that I am. The lady that I talked to told me that they'd call me back in a few hours to reschedule once her manager finished with her massages, so I waited. It's been a week and I've heard absolutely NOTHING. My mom and I are fed up with getting the run-around and we will never return or recommend this place to anyone. This is horrible business practice and super unprofessional. I also CANNOT believe that the Groupon is still up to purchase. If you can't keep up with it, take it down!! It's sad because I originally bought it based on the great reviews.
