The Tables are reasonably spaced out and clean with baby high chairs and a traditional bar area for a quiet drink or somewhere to wait in comfort whilst your booked table becomes free. Customer service was great - polite, efficient and friendly. I appreciated the fact that, having arrived on a Sunday evening with no booking, there was a 40 minute wait until a restaurant table became free so they asked myself and my 4 guests if we would like to stay seated at the comfortable table in the bar area which they then set up for food. Full marks for initiative. Drinks came quickly followed by the food all within a reasonable time period. In a way, that didn't matter as they had an eat-as-much as you like salad bar which had an excellent and fresh selection. The only let-down was the food. A number of the portions were very small (e.g. 3 small onion rings) and they decided to replace the sweet corn with peas without saying anything. The bill was about £50 for four adults and a child. All in all, a great place.

The only downside to this resturant is the size of it, its quite small inside so at peak times you cant get a table and have to wait in the bar area which is also a little on the small side. They have a car park on the side of the building which is a fair size. Ive never had a problem parking. All of the staff have always been polite and cheerful.

It is really huge inside so there is always somewhere to sit - it is open all day Sunday which is a real help if you're doing Christmas shopping and need some refreshment!

Before it was a restaurant, it was a woodshed, where my grandfather would go to buy wood. The restaurant has kept some of the original features, like the beams and high vaulted ceiling, which gives it a very rustic feel. The food is mostly French inspired, but mostly locally sourced (something I always like to see!) For my starter, I had the seared king scallops, which were served with a pea and asparagus compote, black pudding and black truffle oil. Scallops are one of my favourite things, and if it's on a menu it's a pretty safe bet that I'll be ordering it. These, in my opinion, were perfect - which is very high praise, as scallops are really easy to get wrong. These were perfectly seared and crisp on the outside, but really juicy inside - not at all stringy (which is the worst!) and the combination of asparagus, black pudding and truffle oil was divine. My dinner date had the chicken liver parfait, a pate served on toasted brioche with a sultana and sauternes jus. This was followed by a main course of duck - a seared Gressingham duck breast served with duck rillette bon bons, roasted pommes de cocotte potato and sauteed pak choi with cumberland jus. The duck was beautifully cooked, and the meat was meltingly tender. For my main course, I went for the Tournedos Rossini, served medium rare. The aged fillet of Aberdeen Angus beef was served on top of a potato and parsnip rosti, and was topped with seared foie gras, baby spinach, truffle oil and a wild mushroom jus. Basically, it was a whole list of my favourite ingredients on top of one another, and it was delicious. The flavours were delectable, and the whole dish was presented impeccably. After dinner I went for a coffee followed by a coconut and Malibu pannacotta topped with toasted coconut and sweet candied pineapple. The standard of the food and service is really impressive - and the venue has a lot of character, and for the quality of the meal, the price is really quite reasonable.

The hotel is still udnergoing some upgrade of it's bedrooms. Make sure if you book with them you have a room that has been upgraded. The beds are not comfrtable in the older rooms and the furnishings are tatty. Some of the rooms, particularly those in numbered 60-69 are in the attic. I recently stayed in Room 69, which overlooks an internal courtyard. These are not to be recommended for a few reasons (cooking smells, lack of proper ventilation and noise from other rooms) I would suggest if you are offered a room in the 60's to ask for one that does not face onto the internal courtyard. Having said that those three problems aside the room was very comfortable. The service at the County was excellent for a small hotel, the food is excellent, locally sourced and organic.

I mentioned, at the time of booking online, of this fact. Huseyin was his usual perfect host with the traditional hand spray before anything. He restricted bookings to 4 tables a night to follow coronavirus precautions. We wondered how they had coped during this pandemic but, as he said, they did take-away as soon as it was allowed. All I can say is, it worked. This fantastic restaurant was still here and thriving, thank goodness. The service hadn't changed, nothing is too much for them. There is NEVER a rush. As for the food, delicious. A bottle of good Turkish red wine takes us back to that Turquoise Coast. With bread and wonderful dips. A yoghurt dip and the other a biting chilli dip that I will have to pinch the recipe. We love it. Chicken kebab with all the trimmings for my partner and the chefs special of Creamy Chicken Guvec for me. Small pieces of slow cooked chicken in the chefs cream sauce with mushrooms, asparagus, onions and peppers. That dish is 'to die for'. So filling though. Finishing off with coffee, medium sweet Turkish for me. As if that wasn't enough, out of the kitchen came a plate of cake, with candle, and ice cream for my partners birthday with a bunch of flowers. Everyone singing Happy birthday. That brought a few tears to her eyes. A wonderful thought, and I must thank you for that, it made the evening special. What made it really special was seeing Gizem, Huseyins wife. That wonderful beaming smile of hers was accentuated by the fact that a new waiter was in the offing in a few months time. So pleased for them but we couldn't give them hugs. They know, so they were virtual. A fab couple. Still the best Turkish restaurant in the area, and in my estimation outside of Turkey. Great find!…read more Everything was fresh / cooked to order. We enjoyed Hummus, Kisir and Cacik as appetizers. For our main, we had Chicken Shish, Adana Kofte and Grilled King Prawns. Although entree portions were large, we managed to split a Sutlac for dessert. Very tasty. I would definitely recommended as both the service and general experience were incredible. We got to meet and spend a little time with the owners - which was a memorable touch.
