Visited the Dragon this afternoon for Sunday lunch. Unfortunately we arrived at around 3pm and they…read morewere fully booked (so book a table in advance). But we stood at the bar with a drink and admired the beautiful husky that was visiting the pub and after 20minutes were seated. The food was absolutely delicious and cannot be faulted in any way. The only reason why I've not given 5 stars is because I was really looking forward to a lamb shank and unfortunately they had sold out and hadn't told me when I sat down. The service was very pleasant and we were even offered extra gravy half way through our meal which I think is a great touch. Great pub, not cheap but definitely worth every penny.

A popular pub with a largish car park, in a good location right next to the canal. A good variety of outdoor seating, both at the front of the pub and in prime location next to the canal, perfect for a summer's evening! Inside the pub is modern and spacious, with pictures adorning the walls from Willington in bygone times. We visited on a Bank Holiday and the Dragon was very busy with diners and drinkers alike, sheltering from the incessant rain! Menu wise, a good variety of dishes, both traditional and more modern. As it was so busy on the evening we visited, we just went straight for the mains. We went for the 'Dragon burger' and the Moroccan Tagine; the burger was tasty enough, with a pleasant accompanying side salad and great chips. The tagine was the pick of the dishes though, full of flavour and a sizeable portion, with cous cous, but could have done with a portion of veg, but that was an extra. Other dishes included steaks, fish and chips, homemade pies etc. A good meal, and we will definitely give the starters and desserts a try on another visit.

First the good - the owners are a really friendly and sociable couple - from Lithuania it turns out. Really nice people. The place is spotlessly clean, and not busy. Also a cute old water mill (and a stuffed fox that a local kid found an eye-catcher) encased in glass as you walk in. The drinks were OK (we both had cider) however the food offerings could benefit from a little more love. The yelp page shows a link to menu but it does not work :(

A large well set out car park leads you to the entrance, with its magnificent working water wheel - a great window into its past life as a working water mill. The bar has an informal type setting, large comfy sofas, and an eclectic mix of different type tables. Along with the roaring open fire, it all adds to the sociable, chilled out and relaxed feel of the Mill Wheel. A variety of bar snacks and a good range of hot of cold drinks, make it an ideal place to have lunch. The upstairs restaurant area has more formal classical air to it. Bathed with light during the day, it has a very contemporary feel. The menu is a la carte and has a great variety of different dishes, which are refreshed with daily and weekly specials. Although there is a deal on two courses from a restricted menu, the restaurant is still fairly pricey. The food is of a high quality though, the vegetarian Lasagne with a Swiss Chard base and the lamb tagine are particular favourites. Some of the dishes can be a bit style over substance though, but on the whole the food is full of flavour and very individual. A great place to go for a special occasion.
