    Play structure.
    Lianne K.

Our 6 YO Sweet Granddaughter enjoys coming to this park to play. She's fond of the slides and jungle gym equipment. On our last visit she persevered and got all the way across the monkey bars on her own. The previous time we took her there she needed boosting. Not only is she growing taller; she's growing stronger. It was a totally different experience to take her there directly after school on a Monday, versus on a busy weekend day. She practically had the whole play structure to herself. She did find several other kids to challenge on the climbing areas. Then she was kind enough to push a few younger girls on the oversized teeter totter equipment. Of course she wanted ice cream when the ice cream truck came around, but we were planning to go for dinner and frozen yogurt, so we had to disappoint her desire for getting ice cream at the park. SG has previously taken beginner ballet classes at Mason Park, and likely will play soccer here if she goes back to that activity in the future. They offer a lot of varied options for children to play independently, or take formal classes. SG also attended summer camp last summer once school finished up. She has positive associations with this city park. From an adult's perspective, the play areas are mostly in good shape, although there is definitely some wear and tear in the cushioned flooring in places. It's nice to have benches for the older family members to hang out while watching the younger generation.

The splash pad is open for the summer but it's weak sauce. Only two water outlets are actually working. But kids are happy to lay and splash around and gather at the buckets that dump water on them.

Nice park with a huge grass area and an excellent and large play area for younger children. While I was here, I saw numerous park employees cleaning and caring for the park. There were 10+ kids playing in the playground area and having a great time and laughing as all kids should do

SFV needs more splash pads for the kids! This is the only one on this side of the valley. You can find better ones in Calabasas and Simi Valley but you have to drive a lot further. It's ridiculous that with how hot the valley gets, there are not more at LA county parks! Also the grass area needs to be cleaned more as there were tons of debri in the grass from parties, etc. I picked up so much trash and pieces of water balloons! Most of my mom friends agree and prefer the farther splash pads. The playground area is nice but avoid on hot sunny days as there is little shade. The trees cover the picnic area next to the playground but none in the playground area. This makes for very hot slides that can burn. There are swings and a sandbox so bring your sand toys!

I don't recommend the water park they need to fix it. They stopped the water at 2 & didn't restart it. Very sad, what are they doing with our tax dollars

This review is for the pre-school. My son attended this school before it was closed due to the pandemic. Teachers Lily and Mary were so kind, welcoming, and caring for my young son. This was my first time leaving him anywhere. So I was very nervous. But after a couple weeks, all my worries were eased and I saw that he was in really good hands. The teachers planned fun activities for holidays. They had hands on lessons. They sang lots of songs. They occasionally watched a movie. Most importantly they loved on my son. I always felt at ease when he was there. The pricing is very reasonable and I felt like the school was a good value. I personally feel like young children shouldn't be made to trace snd do worksheets or be given "homework". So I wasn't a fan of that part of the program. But it was just a small part of the day and my son didn't seem to mind it too much. If you're firm about not being into that, this probably isn't the place for you. My son did not get to finish his school year due to Covid which was really really sad. He asked about school and his friends a lot. Now he will be too old and will not be able to go back when they reopen. I will probably send my daughter though if they do.

One of my favorite things to do when I visit Southern California is see where some of my favorite movies were filmed. Mason Park is a great one because my favorite baseball movie, the original Bad News Bears (1976), filmed all of the baseball scenes there. Although it looks a lot different today, I still got a thrill from being there. The dugouts, press box, and home run fence are gone, and the parking lot is in a new spot, but I was still able to recognize the location. I enjoyed walking around and picturing the movie scenes as I stood where Tatum O'Neal, Walter Matthau, and all the rest of the cast filmed their scenes. The rest of the park is quite nice as well. A nice place to bring the kids or the dog. It's located in a quiet area of Chatsworth, and I recommend you stop by if you're in the area.

Love bringing my dog to this park! I've been coming here as long as I can remember. I prefer this park particularly when I'm alone because of how open it is, and there are enough people around to make you feel safe but not crowded. The nearby neighborhoods make for more nice places to walk if you don't wanna stay in the park. Plenty of parking too.

Had a family picnic here. Great shade trees. The kids have lots of entertains play areas. The bathrooms were gross and parking is sparse.

The park is nice. A few areas of shade to sit and watch the kids play. There is a water area that has been really nice during this hot weather. The only complaint I have is there's a homeless man living is his car. He doesn't seem to bother anyone but it's a little uncomfortable. There's also a group of older men hang out with him that don't seem to have anywhere to go as well. The restroom are kept up by the city but I try not to use it. I was told drug addicted go in there once in a while.

Ask the Community - Mason Park

Do we have to reserve the shaded picnic area for birthday parties?

All benches are first come first served. But the fill up FAST. Get there early if you want anything specific

Is the splash park open now? If so does anyone know from what time till when it is open? Thank you!

Yes it is open 7 days a week from 11-7pm

Has the splash pad opened again? It was getting repaired.

I called today 6/7/22 and they are missing a part. No date on when it's expected to be repaired.

When does the splash pad usually open and close for the year? Will it open this year with the pandemic?

I've been going here pretty regularly for the past 3 years and haven't seen it open.

Is the park open for this Easter weekend?

Is splash pad open this summer 2019?

Yes I've seen it on. I believe it closes 2-3pm for cleaning

Does anyone know when splash pad will be open?

I just called 6/13/22. They are still waiting on a part to get fixed, the same part they say that needs to get fixed every year.

    Is the splash pad open?

    Yes.

Why is the splash area closed?

Well, probably because right now it's COVID - 19 that's stopping specific things in parks to be closed. Again, I'm not sure when this question was posted but..here is an answer!👍🏼👍🏼

Anyone know if you can reserve the shaded picnic table area for parties? Or just first come first serve? Thanks!

Did you ever get an answer for this? I know it was asked 2 years ago lol but I'm interested now too. Thx.

I love the scenic outlook of the park and feel like I get really nice bouts of fresh air here. Sometimes the park entrance gates are closed, which is weird, but it may be due to the weathers so keep that in mind as it's more of a private community park. The set-up of the park is great and the parking is super large. There is a large stage and I just know that this park has big prospects in mind for the future!!! We came here with our rackets to play some pickleball and for the first hour it was just enough with the 4 courts. After past the hour mark, it started getting more full and groups were waiting outside the court. Regardless, my boyfriend and I were super happy to have finally checked out this new park after hearing about it from my roommates. Also want to note that the spot has a large stage and ampitheatre-like set-up and we would love to see if there are any community events that pop up here. The sign of the park also just says Porter Ranch Community Park even though it says differently online. Hopefully the name confusion can be fixed. Anyways, this is definitely a wonderful addition for the community and I hope it stays how it is with the maintenance and care! - kid-friendly apparatus area - one basketball court - 4 pickleball courts (looks too small for tennis) - clean bathrooms

Even non-Cali residents are aware of this scandalous 'fun fact'. But there is more to this city edging the 118-freeway than just a perverted satisfaction. Chatsworth is also the home to some of the most gorgeous geolithic structures in the Valley. Anyone who has driven on the 118 has seen these glorious rock structures comprising of Stoney Point, Santa Susana, and of course Garden of the Gods. What is Garden of the Gods? Garden of the Gods is located essentially in a Chatsworth neighborhood on Redmesa (a very aptly named street) and isn't a park in the traditional sense of having a lot or ornate entrance. Rather, this entire acreage of Chatsworth is basically one large rocky, cavernous, geographic wonder making Valley residents feel like they are at a national park in Utah. Okay, it isn't on the level of Utah but it is pretty damn good for Los Angeles. After parking on the street, a sign welcomes visitors to the glorious area. A plaque proudly boasts of the Hollywood history of Garden of the Gods: it was part of the ranch that filmed countless westerns on the grounds from Buster Keaton classics to the opening credits of Lone Ranger hence Lone Ranger Rock. Garden of the Gods can also be seen in several big-budget films creating either an African or desert backdrop. Pretty cool, right? The 'trails' (if we want to call them that) vary from light rock climbing to open spaces and from bushes/grasses to sand stone outcroppings. Garden of the Gods is simply breathtaking and you can't help but take a moment to truly think about the amazing-ness of Mother Nature and the age of the rocks. There are several cave-like spots, smooth eroded boulders and stunning views of the SFV and the neighboring rock formations. One can see all the way across to the Verdugo Mountains and the tip of the LA National Forest. I visited the Garden of the Gods with a crew for a lingerie modeling shoot. That's right: I was basically naked here (and actually completely 100% naked when changing). I suppose that is fitting for the Porn Capital? We didn't come across many people (golden hour on a Wednesday in November) so Garden of the Gods was peaceful, quiet and serene. This place is perfect for a modeling shoot or for your IG with various nooks and crannies that make love to the camera. Or perhaps that was me doing that. Be careful though, because there of plenty of snakes and mountain lions who call Garden of the Gods home. So why am I not giving this gorgeous wonder of the world (or at least LA) 5 stars? Simply because people are assholes and decided to use Garden of the Gods as a garbage can. You will come across a lot of trash, bottles, and broken glass EVERYWHERE! These losers also defaced some of the beautiful rocks with tags and graffiti. News stories run rampant in the Stoney Point/Garden of the Gods/Santa Susana area of murders, fights, drugs, etc. Geeze Chatsworth, calm down. I would suggest, for the ladies out there, to not venture here alone. Although Garden of the Gods was quite empty during my visit; we did come across some hikers, families with small children and even mountain climbers with legit gear practicing on the rocky faces. Garden of the Gods caters to a diverse cast of characters. Side note relating to Covid: some people wore masks and some didn't but obviously there is plenty of room here for social distancing. Chatsworth may be known for porn but the rocky topography of the area is much more orgasmic and certainly worth more of a visit than just from from your car window when driving on the 118. Hey you never know: you might see someone modeling in lingerie!
